Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Recent Clues:

Clue #1 Congrats to the finder, to all a reminder
To hunt hard from first to last clues
Medallion I is history. Now a new mystery
Begins -- strap on your hunting shoes

To some its demented, for all unprecedented
But hunters’ thirst must be quenched
Tell sister and brother we’ve hidden another
In a park where a body can be benched

Our 2nd prize? Don’t laugh -- 10-thou cut in half
So get out there even if it’s snowy
And as a special bonus -- some might say an onus --
A meal with our own Clueless Joey

Good hunting to you, let this be the first clue
Think of a woodsy retreat
It won’t be so hard if you channel the bard
You’ll get warm and smell pretty sweet
Clue #2 If you\'re thinking big you\'re sure to dig
Near flora with growing pain
Winter or summer is never a bummer
A menagerie of fun wild or tame
Clue #3 Success on the third clue will never do
We had to stash a second
Round you go if you seek to know
Where swatters of orbs are beckoned
Clue #4: A walk in the park can be a lark
If cell phones are left at home
Heed the siren of your desirin\'
And do not revolt against this poem
Clue #5 Over hill and dale hit the trail
With a handy locating device
Fulfill your wishes like loaves and fishes
And put your victory on ice
Clue #6 A famous singer and a diamond dinger
Might put you oh so close to the spot
With the whites of your eyes you should look for the prize
Within this convenient plot
Clue #7 Don\'t turn up your noses at the city of roses
The home of the park that you seek
It\'s just north of town so come on down
Our hunt is not for the meek
Clue #8 Don\'t go mental just head for Central
Lexington Avenue will show you the way
Your spirits won\'t sag when you see the big flag
Into the trees you want to stray

I am working on anagramming some of their names as we speak (or type as it may be).

Trying to find a siren of my desirin'

Right now, I think we're getting many things that are in the park - but no real direction or confirmation as to where in the park the medallion is resting.

Hamline is a boundary to the park as is Jessamine. Lexington borders the park in areas and goes through it in others. Midway runs into the park. The cell-less part is to the south, the fountain and falls is more north, the audubon thingy is to the west, the Larry Ho significance is in the middle, the orbs may be referring to McMurray Field also to the south, and the references to the conservatory, zoo, etc. just put you in the park.

McMurry field is to the south as izz the cellless place...

I'm going to get cleaned up and think about where we might dig today.

See yaz later!

No. No buttons. You do NOT navigate well with buttons.

Ever notice around here when you do a good noodle they go to that other place and chew it over?

lilslim

ahem? the other place? is there somewhere else I should be?

if so, someone PM me.

Well, the only siren I got anything halfway interesting out of was Parthenope.

North a peep.

You know, noodling the literal of siren could work, too. And I don't mean BC or Mounds. Still CoNo.

Like Edgcumbe, but the 4th clue sinks it!

Go to her

reminds me of an old song "run to him..." Bobby Vee or something like that...

If you heed a siren, you're gonna seek shelter. Hunters enkneeweigh. Argonauts will go to the rocks.

The Pioneer Press Discussion Board, lilslim.

I'm not so sure ideas are being brought over there from here though. There's only so many ways to noodle a clue to death and you're bound to have similar interpretations. It's kind of like the old axiom, "even the blind squirrel will eventually find an acorn".

I feel like I'm back a square one. Sucks.

Siren and revolt to me mean police station. I checked the map of stations in the city and there are suprisingly few. The one near Highland is the most notable.

I don't even know where to look today. Maybe I'll just stay in and noodle the clues a bit before heading out.

Just to clarify when people are discusing celless.....were talking about where the pool is......or did we noodle celless to mean something else.......I think alot of things point to the South western part of the park
Sat, 01/27/2007 - 9:55 AM Permalink

FWIW

Midway was a battle.

Lexington, while still a (quote) "battle" (end quote) was a revolt.

No, the acorn I was referring to is a good noodle. Not the medallion.

Now I'm hungry for spaghetti. :pbpt:

Personally? I think the whole celless thighy is just 1) a jab at today's Hunters, 2) to make The Lark Walk more hidden. In that a "What a lark! I took a walk and actually left my cellphone at home!"

To me what's important is heeding the siren, the walk that could be a lark, and don't revolt.

Downtown park maybe?
Sat, 01/27/2007 - 10:00 AM Permalink
green

No. Not downtown. Can you see thousands of people converging on say the likes o'Mears? They'd spill into the streets and get picked off!

Ittiz at CoNo. But where ittiz I don't know. Ask Jake.

That would be a riot.

Could turn into one!

They need to add a new rule for the hunt.......no high sticking. :goofy: But checking is allowed.

A walk in the park can be a lark

If cell phones are left at home

You won't hear bird calls or be able to bird watch if you are on your phone. I bet bird enthusiasts HATE cell phones, the rings scare the birds. Maybe there is a "no cell" or turn off cell sign out there?
Sat, 01/27/2007 - 10:10 AM Permalink
green

I agree, Lil'SlimX2.

Or it means nothing and is filler - the cellphone-thighy. No matter what, either way it points to the Audubon place to me.
Sat, 01/27/2007 - 10:14 AM Permalink
green

No, there's no turn off cellphone sign.

Where are some places that might ask you to turn off your cell phone? Like a movie theater or a play or something like that....is there any theaters or anything around any of the parks

Didn't know if anyone posted this yet or not...

Sounds like serious growing pains to me!

Victoria water platters from the Amazon were introduced to Como Park in the 1880s. They were grown in a Lily Pond under a stone bridge. The warm water required to successfully grow these water lilies came from the boiler at the park superintendentÂ’s house nearby. Como Park gardenersÂ’ considerable skills were demonstrated by this healthy colony of exotic tropical water plants. Victoria water platters were kept in the pond until the early 1920s.

I'm just curious as to why everyone thinks Shakespeare is the bard....

Robert Frost was just as bard-y.

Shakespeare was The Bard, but there are many other bards, heck the cluewriter is a bard (though not a very good one...stinking 4th clue).
