Wicked Nick

After hitting Mounds, Phalen, and Como, we got stopped out there, at Central, last night too....

the cop gave me some attitude, after I told him why we were there.... insisted that its not there, and he "knows that for a fact"

so I my words were: "I've showed you proof of why i'm here....you dont know that its not here... and unless you can show me some proof of that fact, then we're done talking"....

....then I picked up my stuff, and walked away....

If I find the medallion at Central, and they arrest me, for being in the park afterwards, I'm gonna call the Pioneer Press, and ask them to pay my bail. :goofy:

So much drama with the few goofs at the PP site.

I see the clues fitting Central, but I'm not convinced yet that it couldn't be Como.

Todays clue said dale stumbeled over a cleaver device. Dale is a street, and Sextant is an other street that runs into Dale along the southside of Centeral Park. A sextant is a grandapa's version of a GPS.

Talking with Coco, we had a good discussion about why it wouldn't be in Central (or another non-St Paul park). They are worried about us doing stupid and destructive things as it is. Why would they send us to a park in a city they don't haev a good working relationship with? Look at the reaction last night to the treasure hunters by the Roseville police. St Paul police know about the treasure hunt, they're ready for it. Other police departments are not going to be. In this day and age of being worried about being sued for sneezing the wrong way, you would think they'd be really hesitant to hide it somewhere other than St Paul. I think this hunt will be a learning experience for both sides, to see what the reaction is of cities and hunters.

Okay, I know this will mean doom for all of the geocaches in Central, so if you find one and want to grab it, just let me know, and we'll find a way to put it back later...

BTW....The wishes, which seem to flow like the multiplying loaves and fishes, refers to the street next to Avon and Grotto....ALADIN! and his lamp which produced wishes seemingly endlessly for those who summoned the djinni.

See you in Central

At this point the clues lead directly to Central, but Kids, I agree with you. What happens when the park is overridden with nighttime hunters and the Roseville cops go crazy? Or, what about the map in the paper that only showed the city of St. Paul?

I think the Roseville cops were probably responding to some complaint last night and didn't really know how to handle what they found since people have been generally wrong about Central in the past. My guess, or maybe it's just a hope, is that someone from the paper will talk to someone from Roseville and get the cops to back off. If they really don't ever want us hunting anywhere other than a St. Paul park, then they need to finally change the rules and say St. Paul instead of Ramsey County.

But if you'll remember back to 2004, there was an article in the paper that year that talked about the medallion being hidden outside of St. Paul and how other cities, including Roseville, and even Maplewood, were fine with that.
Sun, 01/28/2007 - 8:32 AM Permalink
OT

I agree. I think seeing as it is the ST. PAUL Winter Carnival, they should limit the hunt to parks in St. Paul. The whole Ramsey County thing should be eliminated.

Did that article really say "fine with that," Allison?

Did I read that? Maybe that's why I was in the dog park last year??????

You shure, Allison?

Because that would SURE shed a different lite on my noodles...

How do you argue with Dale, Victoria (Victory), Sextant, and Aladdin, all following on Avon? Those streets are all in the same part of the same park and came out in the same clue. Lexington was a revolt, but don't look on that side.
Sun, 01/28/2007 - 8:35 AM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

I don't know if they would make it that unless they absolutely had to (really negative reaction from another city to something treasure hunters did to a park of theres). The PP is having a hard time making some of these hunts go longer. Having the possibility it could be in a park outside St Paul is one thing that does help them make it go longer. What if it is Como this year? We have at least one clue where a ton of people were searching in Central, delaying the finding of the puck by a day most likely.

l and a mommy

does anyone have this PP map that shows the hunting area? I don't have the original paper and I can't find a map online
Sun, 01/28/2007 - 8:37 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I don't recall the exact wording of the article, but the point of the article was to debunk the myth that they couldn't use suburban parks because they have been somehow banned. They could find no record of a ban anywhere and they quoted one city official of some suburb saying they'd be happy to host a hunt.

I guess it's this feeling in my gut that I don't like Central. I could be way wrong, but I just am sticking to what I'm feeling. It's the same feeling that made me think that it wasn't Harriet in the year it was at Como. I don't like the Central noodles as a whole to comfortably convince me.
Sun, 01/28/2007 - 8:40 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I wonder if there's anywhere to find a copy of that article? It was prior to the Phalen hunt since they probably knew there would be controversy about it possibly being on the Maplewood side.

Because they're jerks.

But is it the same feeling you had that told you the Mock Hunt wasn't at North Dale? Sometimes trusting our gut is a huge help and sometimes it just means we ate something we shouldn't have.

Although if I was going just by some of the things I read about Central, I'd be a bit dubious, but the clues all make sense to me there, in the "this is what the cluewriter is trying to describe" sort of way.
