Pre-Dig Gig, Rehash Bash and other Cooler events

same here, I think you guy's are further up than us though.

I had a great time at the rehash! Thanks to everyone that showed up.

Yes, I think it went pretty well. The food was great (and not frozen!) and it was nice to be able to talk to people without feeling rushed.

but, i wouldnt be able to do it without tc. she's my inspiration.

now, this year i have a couple of plans i want to put together for the site. 1) i really want to get my email system set up so that people can create @coolercrew.com email addresses and 2) i want to get some sort of photo gallery up for folks to submit pictures for the site that can be embedded within or without the individual med hunt pages.

Where did everybody go? Thought it would be a longer get together being inside.

We finally made it down there @ 4 (2 hr drive and 2 stops later) and everyone was gone! Not a car in the parking lot. :frown: There can't be more than one mason lodge with the same address and fitting the directions, it had to be the right place. either you all have invisible sheilds on your vehicles, or it was an early day. :chagrin:

So we went to the park, checked the spot and put back a cache. Then we went shopping and out to eat for my birthday (was yest.) :smile:

Really disapointed that we missed everyone (again). We have tapes for a few people, maybe we can run into Jana next time we're down. Hopefully we can make it for AW's hunt.

I asked Allison yesterday if the use of his lodge is something we could do again next year. It was very wonderfully fabulous to be indoors where it's warm and comfy. He thought that would be okay.

We may have started a new tradition.

And speaking of Allison - that scarf belongs to green and it was a gift so she would like it back.

Although if you think about it, it's kind of odd and a little sad that some sports competition between people we don't know and probably don't even really care about, is more important than spending time with our friends.

I was setting up and attending a superbowl party on Sunday, in which I spent time with many many friends. I would wager that many people watched the superbowl with friends as opposed to alone, and that the friends were more important than the game.

After seeing mikey's video, I can't imagine the PDG being anywhere but McGovern's ... but that's probably just me.

I still think it's the people more than the place that makes the event. I guess the real question in the end is did anyone stay away from the Pre Dig because of the location?

I wouldn't miss it for the world. It just feels right.

I really liked AW's place for the RHB. If not there, then I thought Obbs for the RHB?

I think the main thing is that someone has to take responsibility and reserve the basement at McG's early enough that we don't get hassled about it.

CM was lucky this year to be able to get the basement.

The problem was not calling early enough to reserve the basement, it was that if there was other business that was more important then ours (i.e. Wild Game), then they did not want to limit themselves to having us in the basement.

I think if we can get the basement every year it works out perfect. The problem comes if we cant get the basement. IMO.

problem was many of the coolercrew members complain'd about the $15 they paid for parking...

why pay it if we can find an alternative....

I did hear that parking was another issue.

Just a question. Matty B's was so good to us this year. Wonder if they would close it for a private party for us for the Predig next year???

I thought I found free street parking. I got a $25 ticket. I thought I had 30 days to pay. I had 21. It's now up to $30

I liked Matty B's....I don't care much for the parking around McGoverns either...I either drive around for ever to find free parking or have to pay more than I'd like...I'll show up anywhere you guys decide...

If there's a Wild Game that night, I don't imagine Matty B's would be that much better for parking. I also wonder if they will even still be open next year.

As far as I'm concerned, parking is THE problem with McGovern's. Everything else seems to work out fine there, even on a crowded night.

I can't recall if its that you spend $8+ or just buy anything at Matty B's and they will stamp your parking ticket for the Victory Ramp so its only $2.

let me know and I'll talk to him again about it. I like McG's but I also like Matts - and Matts has the Capitol Room and Ganster Ally that I know he'd give us.

I used that trick the other nite....I just ran in and bought one drink and left.

after my $25 parking ticket the first night I was there - I used the Matty B's special parking every other night. sure was nifty.

Funny you mention that. I had to go to the Army's website today to change my password so I could access my email. On the page that you use to edit your profile, it has my correct MOS, 63B20H8 (mechanic), but has as my second MOS (I don't have one) Dental Something-or-other... was weird...
