im hanging out with costa ricans, panamaians, my boyz from ensenada, n the dominican. not to mention all my pals from all over the u.s. yesterday 22 of us went winetasting then to dinner then we all got vip enterance to hang out with DJ AM. He's prolly the best DJ Ive seen. I dont think I can put into words the love I have for all my friends. its so awesome. soon we are leaving to go visit childen in a shelter. then tonight more drinking. i almost dont mind the fact that im sooooo hung over.
Got an extremely nice fella a gig at KC's job. He's a lot friendlier and has a lot better work ethic than some of the other temps that we've heard stories about. Also, the place where they were getting their temps specializes in craptacular people, so hopefully it'll be an adjustment all around.
Some of you may remember during the Phalen hunt, we had our place up north broken into, some things were stolen - including all my music and a strong box containing much of our land owner's association paper work including the check book.
Today we got notice from Pine County that they have now scheduled a date for sentencing the dude they caught who was forging the checks at various places around the area.
It's the first we've heard that they even finally caught the guy. But we're thrilled!
Sweet! Do you know if they have in possession the strongbox? Hopefully they were able to recover some of the stuff that was taken... although justice being served (to someone else) is nice in and of itself...
thats wonderful news zeph. I'll be dealing with them sometime next week myself :frown:
interesting Terry. Im sorry that happened to you. In the end I hope somehow the man can give you those papers back. Its AWEFUL how people don't think 'after the fact' that its not always about the $ they stole but how important documents can be and to just send those back in the mail to you. I think about when Becks purse was stolen.... why couldn't they have just sent back the stuff that they would throw away by mailing it to you with no return address, that means the world to the person they took it from...like the medallion from Jakes/MedHunters Hunt- if the stealers had ANY remorse or thoughtfulness in them at all they woulda at least sent what they didnt want back. Its the least they can do if they rob you.
something Im thankful for.... 12 hours and 18 minutes of nothing bad happening. its the longest Ive gone in weeks. maybe Ill just stay sitting right here for a little while longer.
They got him on check forgery. Probably didn't catch him with any of the goods. If they had, they could have gotten him on burglary, but that doesn't seem to be the case. We harped at Pine County when they were moving so slow about this. The bank had a video of the guy for crying out loud and still they were dragging their feet.
I do know they are short of staff and there is reportedly lots of meth labs and stuff they have had to deal with, but it would be nice if they could have gotten to this sooner.
if the checks were stolen, isn't that proof that he stole them? Or at least received stolen property?
I'm telling ya, my wife brings people to court all the time (as part of her job) for theft by check and they do little to nothing to them. Even if they are convicted, good luck getting any money back from them.
Even so, it is a small comfort to know that something happened to the culprit.
I'd go one step further and probably get his address - maybe as he walks out of the court room make it known to him that I knew his address and everything about him -along with a very large man standing next to me with a mean look on his face. - thats my little ganster/mob dad in me.
After old computers motherboard became one with toast, getting to order up new parts that will put me back in the 21st century, and kick up the speed about 5X or so...
YUP!! Intel 2.66Ghz, 1 Gig RAM (takes up to 16), Duo Core Processor(?), 256 video card, built in sound card, and a bunch of other computer stuff that I don't know the meaning to... Compatible with both PATA and SATA, so I can keep my hard drives
going to the doctor today (yes really) and finding out the pain in my ass, is just a strained muscle. Getting T3 for it, and some muscle relaxers - 2-3 week vacay from soccer, and some stretches to improve the area.
I thought a lot more was wrong. This is a walk in the park.
Getting my (belated) valentine. Torgy made me... MADE me a pen and pencil set on his lathe, and the walnut box to put them in. He also sent me a monkey (mi mono) and a bear and some chocolate and (my favorites!!!) Pearson Nut rolls... and 3 cards
I totally only expected the cards (ok.. and the nut rolls I was really really hoping for, cause I um, LOVE them) but the pen set made me cry. They are red acrylic, and look like marble. soooo beautiful.
Enjoy: Passing my BLS Instructor course with flying colors, and having the teacher go to bat for us and save us from having to take the Core Instructor course online (for $35) and giving it to us as part of our regular instructor class!
Also enjoy: The nap I was able to take after my course when I got home from class. Was a long trip... drove there and back yesterday (131 miles one way) and got stuck for 3 miles of stop-and-stop traffic in Bloomington... and there and back today... I am too spoiled with my 1.5 mile trips to work and back...
Enjoy: Getting 2- 3 piece outfits, 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of velvet pants and 1 decorative hoody zip up sweatshirt for $38 at Sears tonight for the girls
Me2 - they were totally unexpected. I'm a stationary whore (I have hundreds of dollars of fancy paper and writing stuff, and still write real letters and send real cards to people) so these were the perfect gift. They are 1000x's nicer than my cross set which I've had since I was a baby (baptism gift from my godfather) That are a couple of hundred dollars now as they are the original hand lathed set)
They are balanced, and easy to write with. I (personally) prefer a little thicker of a barrel, but I will gladly adjust when writing fancy letters. The first thing I did (after I stopped weeping and thanking him like the wussy i've become) is write him a thankyou card using them.
CM - no they aren't engraved there isn't really a spot on the pens that wouldn't ruin the finish. he could have done the box I supposed. but they are lovely, and the red is from his heart. I'll never ever forget where I got them.
Snow! Blizzards bring back many lovely memories. I love snow!
Just came in from shoveling for the third time today. You can hardly tell I just shoveled, but I'm trying to keep ahead of it so I don't have a foot to shovel instead of a few inches at a time.
