Since some of my quotes were used in this post, I'll respond.

I did not post any opinion one way or the other the matter. I mearly posted a link to another place that you could get help if you wanted to.

Personally, I agree with you that this is a group place and we should try to do things as a group.

I also don't think it's a bad idea to have another thread, if thats what the group wants. I like the fact that we have a variety of threads here. It keeps people around here all year long when they have more to talk about than just the medallion.

But on the other hand I can see where some might want to be focused more and not have a thread for everything. But blaming one persons opinion (kitches) about it on all us guys and insinuated that we are on a power trip or something is just not correct.

My first reaction was that is was a good idea to have the proposed thread, but I guess I didn't post that thought. But I did think it.

Obviously you mistook my suggestion of an alternate place to get help as opposition to the idea of a new thread. It wasn't intended to be opposition to the idea, it was to try to help you if you wanted another place to go.

I like whatever.

If someone asks a tech question, I try to answer it. The only caveat is the fact if I don't run across said question because I didn't look in the right area, then that's beyond my control.

Usually though, I don't have to find tech questions to be answered, they usually find me :goofy:

And what's testosterone? Some new kinda energy drink? :goofy:

cluemaster,

I need to buy a new vacuum soon...

I had consider'd an Oreck..but I borrow'd one and the 2nd day I used it I had major issues with it and had to take it appart to fix it.

so...what would the pro get? I like the idea of the pro's because they have the cords that are longer than one room.

I'm even tempted to add central vac....

funny- the other day I vacuumed my bedroom when it just shut off- I thought it was a blown fuse- come to find out the motor just plain quit. I'm currently searching for a good vacuum as well.

I love my Oreck had it for over 9 years!!

Central vac's SUCK, one of the houses i clean added one when they remodled....I bring mine instead.

I also love my Oreck! I've had lots of vacuums over the years including Kirby and Electrolux which are supposed to be so good and are so expensive. Kirby is just too heavy and Electrolux wasn't all that. Oreck is light and does a great job of picking up.

Central vacuum systems just can't compare because the motor is too far away from the working end. Suction sucks. :pbpt:

I don't vacuum but Bob got an Oreck and after several vacuums over the course of years he likes it the best of all.

Oreck and Dyson get comparable ratings at Epinions.com, but the Oreck costs less. I'm all about comparable value for less money.

I really wanna know what the PROFESSIONAL SAYS....I think I know why I had major issues with the oreck...and 90% sure it won't happy any time soon if i continued to use it...was just ticked off at how it got all jammed up...it seemed like a simple fix if this plastic dohicky wasn't in the way...

I know I don't want an dyson as I don't like "bagless"......k....central vac is out...(oops-forgot they are bagless f.t.m.p)

Do you know Greg Belde? He can hook you up with a professional one that they use in their business. He used to donate one to various fund raisers (might still do that) and I hear they work well.

I use and prefer these but you could buy 6 or 7 Oricks for the cost of one.
Mon, 03/12/2007 - 1:34 PM Permalink

its about the same cost....

you should be able to get an Oreck for far less than that.

This is the one I have. Just the basic model, but it picks up better than any of the more expensive vacuums I've had in the past.

And you get the cansister thrown in. I use my canister all the time for my stairs, quick pick-ups under the table and for vacuuming my car.
