Pie, while I'm pleased to see you're not ripping everyone lately, I was wondering if you could put down "Bartlett's Book of Familiar Quotations" and help us out.

Has anyone been to the part of Battle Creek that is off of 61 yet? I would really like to know if any of what people have thought that the clues mean fit.

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 10:33 AM Permalink
LLkisses

I'm not sure if I like the idea of Newell it just doesn't really fit for me. It COULD fit but I think that people are trying to make it fit.

I've done everything I can to help those most in need, but those most in need, need to get out to my top three parks and do our scouting!

In other words get to work!!

Scroll back aways to find my top three and get going!!

OK, LL, I'll stay for a bit longer...and LL, what park are you thinking of that doesn't require you to "make it fit"?

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 10:38 AM Permalink
Lindsay

LL: gave BC/61 throught: Pigs Eye Lake(well-trained eye) or well-trained eye, good hunter on attack could refer to the Eagles flying there; the crap plant (foul) is downwind; opposites: lower/upper Afton; track: old Pacific rr there; but rain??

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 10:38 AM Permalink
Electric Duane

Take it easy there, LL (cool J)

Here's some of Electric Duane's insight just for you:

Me thinks "set your own pace" means it's in a park where it has never been before. Noodle that for a while and get back to me.

LLkisses

It is just weird to me. Every park that I have been to so far doesn't really fit all the clues. I mean if you wanted them to fit you could strech the meanings and get any park to fit but I haven't found a park yet that fits all the simple things that they could mean.

My son is Trucker and delivered at that treatment plant this am and he called me to say it REALLY smelled bad this am;the stuff is warm and freezes to the trees in a fog-like mist; could be the foul and cloudy down from BC/61.....Pacific rr starts in that area...

Lindsay:

"Poop sites" is a palandrome for "opposites"

Sorry to beat a dead horse... But you know "opposites; cloudy and foul?

Clear *izz* opposite Phalen...

Yust thought I'd toss that out.

Well, my hair's almost dry and I've partaken o'some left over KFC - man that stuff's good! (Original!) So will be heading out shortly.

Hi folks, I'm new to the discussion, but not to the hunt!!! Actually I stay home with the little ones while the hubby hunts and I update via your interpretations of the clues. Right now we really like Newell for reasons already discussed by you...He was out there last night, said not too many others there, considering how sure we are that it's there.

I was just out by Newell park, and it seems pretty dug up already. However, people have been focusing on digging around the trees and benches, and it seems to me that for the last several years, the medallion has been found out in an open area. Any thoughts? I am leaning towards Newell, Highland, maybe Mounds. Battle Creek is such a big park, I think they would have identified the park by now if it's a big one.

LL what ever happened to Rice?

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 10:44 AM Permalink
LLkisses

I also was thinking that it would be in a park that it hasn't been in before. I was also thinking that maybe a well-trained eye has something to do with the other clues. Like maybe there is an anagram in all the clues or maybe it means that the medallion is hidden in the open and you just have to look to see it (like maybe it blends in)?

Green, you haven't seen that urban-legend e-mail going around about KFC have you?

Pie: I liked your #2, but was too tired last night to remember; can you repeat your list? Thanks

Like i have said I don't want to get stuck like alot of people have on one park and then not give up hope on it until it is too late

How do you guys get your text to change color and size? It seems that my only option in the "post my message" box is plain old black & white!

Half of Rice is still sculpture free (at least it was yestertday) but maybe the clues are getting read into too far. I don't know. I can't figure a way that the cloudy thing could fit.

I meant the Southwest, near the coliseum. I grew up there as a kid and we called that parking lot Marksmen park, the city would bring hay bails there during the summer for archery practice. Could this help with todays clue?

Working, put <> where I put ()

(font color=purple)

Electric Duane

Electric Duane thinks (I often refer to myself in the 3rd person) that the epic Battle Creek saga is still a little too recent for Mom to put it back there again.

Attack: would clearly support BC Ace: might also support BC by the same rationale

But if we thought Mom was handing us the Newell clues on a silver platter, if it's in Battle Creek a chimp could find it with those hints. Seems too obvious.

hey Green here's an HTML question how do we get the actual font to change (ala E&H's Mom's cool font)?

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 10:52 AM Permalink
LLkisses

Well I have to be going now I will be back later to see what insight you people have come up with now

Shovler, I *think* ittiz under "Prefrences." Think you can insert a font there...

LL Kisses

Rice park is barely bigger than my apartment...we'd never get all us diggers in there.

I can change font size there, or I can use the html for that, but I am unaware of the code for changing the actual font.

Thanks, electric....clue #5 says the first two lines are a simple truth to help extract the prize; how would opposites attract and a cloudy/foul mood be a simple way to figure out these clues?

It's not working! What am I doing wrong?

ATTENTION--ATTENTION--past finders of the treasure!!!! Many people would like to see a group photo for the Treasure Hunter's Guide "Hall of Fame". Please send me an e-mail to see if we can get together at the park. Give me your hunting schedule for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Thanks,

Steve

Shoveler: You have to tell it what font you want it to use....just like with color

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 11:01 AM Permalink
'mom'

So, along with using <> for ()

(font color=blue face="comic sans ms") and it will look like this...

'mom'

Make snese?

Are there any religious scholars on the crew? Lindsay's "simple truth" has me noodling. There is a major religion that bases its beliefs on "the 4 noble truths." Does anyone know the relgion and does anyone know the "truths." (Who am I, Alex Trebec?)

This is streching, I know...but often it is the misunderstood who end up recognized as brilliant.

That's the font I was looking for. So, fun! But on my screen, everbuddy's Times New Roman. Must bee something to do with my monitor settings...
