the garage logic think tank continues to ponder the north side of the midway stadium parking where tailgators set up tents by the tracks

Oh, I forgot, change of profession from Vikings to the Saints Stadium not far away from Newell.

Has anyone got any new thoughts on "rapscallion" I can't believe the word was used by accident...Also I like the Calvin Klein idea..it comes in a white box doesn't it??

theirs a ratscallion bar inside the landmark brewery, thats close to rapscallion

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 12:38 PM Permalink

it could just mean, not to break with tradition meaning its in a park its been in before

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 12:38 PM Permalink

The word rapscallion I haven't really worked out for Newell. A villian, dog, heel, devil, criminal, rake, worm, beast, brute, demon: just an evil person that is looked down upon. Is my only take on that.

Someone said this earlier, they thought it was "rapped" in an onion!

I think tonite's clue will be the one that gives away the park!

Denise, to be honest- I don't know, sorry.

Just a thought- If we try hard enough, we can make it fit into any park in St. Paul at this point in the game. You all have great thoughts, however, it seems to early in the game for me, I could be wrong, but I have learned over the years that it is best to wait a little bit and then go for it, good luck to all.

Heres one for you Newell fools what is the definition for a rapscallion:

RASCAL, NE'er-do-well

Not to pick you apart, doc, but the opposite of "don't be a rapscallion" would be "be a rapscallion" or "don't be a saint"

Maybe I'm reaching here but the terms serve and ace are also volleyball terms. but it might be hard to see the courts under the snow.

john - but we know they are there.

I like the reference to the Saints as well.

I have tried to make these clues fit other parks...but none seem to fit as easily as Newell at this moment in time.

When we have been at the right park, we are often there early on in the clues. Waiting is more like waiting for the press to start telling us where everyone is digging.

meant dont be a rapscallion would be a reference to bieng a saint

Can I tell you?

It kind'a makes me cry...

I was driving around. Going slow, pulling up on curbs to let cars pass me, rubber-necking every which way... Kind'a driving from side to side on the road(s) because I was NOT looking where I was going.

There was this kind'a crummy car behind me, really close... So, I mumble, "Otay, otay, give me a minute..." and I pulled way over to the rite. The car ----------------------------> sped around me.

I got bock in the lane, looking all over, and I see that particular car pulled over on the rite in front o'me, and a young male - funky hair, black leather coat - sticks 1/2 his body out the driver's window to flag me down. He was rrreeealllllyyy frowning...

I quick pulled over, figured it was annudder Hunter, and locked my door as the kid approached my car.

He leans down - and I'm expecting, "Are you green?" - and says, "You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine!"

"Well, I was worried - you were driving so slow and weaving..."

"OH! I'm looking for The Medallion!"

Blank look on his face... So I explained.

"Okay, you're sure you're not having any problems?"

"You are so kind. No, the only probs I'm having is finding The Medallion."

With another, "Okay," he walked back to his car.

Just typing this makes me cry. What a great kid. He couldn't have been more than 17. It gets me so damn mad when all of America's young are considered evil just because of a few bad apples. America's youth is WONDERFUL!!!

green, way to warm our hearts on this cold winter day . You just be careful out there while driving ok..we need your insight!

Here's my thoughts (simple as can be)

#1- No more than a Saint Paul park and NOT on a golf course...

#2- Something to do with a race... Marathon? Xcountry ski? Cars?

#3- To the NORTH will be a tower or two (two possibly being the actual NUMBER 2)

#4- Picnic pavilions and fire pit/grills

#5- from cloudy and foul comes 'fair'... and even if youre in a cloudy or foul mood the Fair will attract you, thats a fact...

#6- well-TRAINed... on the right TRACK... attack=??? (pierce?)

I tried to abstain from naming parks until #6 there... but i'm for Newell... the word WELL has popped up too much... and in well-trained is Newell... the remaining letters spell TRIAD whatever the hell that may point to...

think #2 is the only clue that doesnt jump at me for Newell... although isnt there a speedway near midway? maybe just during the fair...

You examine things that don't look out of place! Even white earmuffs in the middle of the winter.

homer, the pound is behind mcmurray fields, off lexington and jessamine, right by the humane society.

That's okay shoveler. I think I'm slowly getting over it. Sometimes I can almost laugh!

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 1:08 PM Permalink

near the end of the hunt you get excited about any piece of garbage lying in the snow. i love the hunt!

Then I almost sensed a replay of that when someone mentioned earlier about finding a vikings ear warmer in one of the parks.

The fact that the word well has popped up so much is what scares me about Newell. Though at least they haven't used New and well in the same clue like last year. I do still like it, but not sure about it. It's still my second choice.

Hello all. What are the latest thoughts? Everyone still pretty much stuck on Newell?

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 1:11 PM Permalink
the shoveler

Though at least they haven't used New and well in the same clue like last year

They have Dave, the last clue has word anagraming out to Newell Triad or Tri Ad Newell - try at Newell, also a Rapscallion is a NE'er-do-WELLer.

As for today's clue, I think "on the right track" might just be clue jargon. "stays on the attack" seems like a bizarre phrase to use that might have some meaning. Not sure what though.

When I look at Newell it just doesn't seem right. I haven't found a park that I think fits all the clues yet but I will. It just seems that people are trying to make it fit whatever park they would like to think that it is in.

Allison-- are you ready to divulge your first choice or still claiming that park as yours alone? No pressure.

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 1:14 PM Permalink
Terry

What scares me is last year I was thinking Newell as one possibility and did spend a bit of time there. But I also spent time at the capital mall before getting to Conway.

This year I'm currently sold on Newell.

So tonight's clue will send us all scrambling to a different park...or maybe no.

Has anyone been to the part of Battle Creek off of 61 to look around. I haven't but I used to be a ski jumper and Battle Creek is a former ski jumping sight and I know that when you ski jump it is VERY important to stay on the track. What do you think?

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 1:15 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Some people mentioned it last night after the clue came out, but it seemed to get passed over quickly. I still like it, but not 100% sure on it, though I was pretty sure when I saw the clue last night.

Fri, 01/28/2000 - 1:15 PM Permalink

I know which park Allison was hunting in....and I'm not sold....but it is good noodling.

I'm not even considering Battle Creek since it was there only five years ago. Plus they revealed it in clue 6 last year. I think if it was there we'd know it. But I don't think they will use it again for a while.
