I'm SOOOO glad I got to hang out with you a little bit!!! Hopefully more next time...we can go geocaching with the gang or maybe somebody will have a mock hunt while you're here. How is everything going back home? Did you start boxing up your stuff to move yet???
I think I'm coming in August now. Matty is coming here for 10 or so days in June and I may cancel my trip to Mexico - so I can spend more time in MN in August.
Depending if I win my National Director Title - I will be moving next June. If I don't win. I may move home by Christmas.
I have to stay at my job until Sept to be 100% vested in my 401K and that is huge.
Totally. which is why I still want the national directorship position. It would put me in a good spot after I take a year to charter some clubs in MN to run for National President.
and yes. My retirement is a big goal too.
I still have to renovate the house I'm inheriting and get it into rental condition, as well as work out stuff with my roommate on the house we co-own to see if he wants to buy me out or what. (if he can) Otherwise we will be looking at either selling that house, or finding renters for it too.
But between the two houses, I should have no problem getting a loan on a house there.
Have you ever done a "passport weekend" with the wineries? Do you know how they work?
I'm doing some research on the Sonoma/Napa valley area, I see that Dry Creek has a Passport weekend the last weekend in April. This sounds like a blast....
yeah. i just poured at one. You get a ticket, and a glass, and you go winery to participating winery, and they have different stuff - barrel tastings, discounts, extra special stuff to taste. It's fun. It's a drunk fest.

Oh my. This was a bad idea to go after when I only had 15 mins before I had to be to work. Picture this: a prissy girl pulls up in a silver jetta, parks, and steps out wearing a white blouse, black capri dress slacks and open foot sandals with silver rhinestones all over them. Carrying a coach purse, she hussels across the street and starts poking around in the bushes. In a hurried state she scurries from one pile of branches to the next, himming and hawing all the way. "Dang GPSr, 5 feet, 40 feet, do you even know where you are?" Finally, 10 mins later she says to herself "Hmmm, that thing looks to have an awfully even cut across it, what's that all about?" and finally finds the silly cache. Had it not been for Vino Babe and trying to do her a favor, I wouldn't have been here to begin with, but what's a cacher to do?
Well, considering this was on an effort to my 60th find, it was a memorable milestone marker!
I'm going to repair this TB, reattach the tracking tag to the wallet, and add a buddah to protect it on it's future travels. Seems like this one could use the extra protection to keep it safe. Sounds like this one had a wine bottle opener at some point...? It's not there anymore, so if I have time I'll add a new one.
Can you confirm where your friend Matt would like to pick up? I was thinking of dropping this one at the Mall of America cache since it seems like a good half way point for me and him. Let me know!
It's still one of the strangest invites I've ever gotten...
On 07.07.07 at 7:07 pm...
...The grove will once again come alive...
...the needle....glistening in the afternoon sun...slowly....gently....drops to touch the spinning record....
...the sexy people....dressed in white...stroll down the driveway...
shhhh...can you hear it?....listen....can you hear it?
THUMP ...THUMP ...THUMP ...
it's the WHITE PARTY!
This is your official invitation to my WHITE PARTY, a private party for my friends, so if you recieved this invitation, I'm lucky enough to be a friend of yours...
Last year, the food took us to Italy...this year, it'll take us to Tokyo, the beats will take us to Ibiza and the performers will take us to Paris...
Your mention of your white trash party reminds me of my friend's annual "floozy tea party". This year we get to be queen of whatever we want. Next year we are going to rent the trolley and go partying - the theme for that will be "Trollops on the Trolley". Don't ya just love theme parties?
I may have to borrow that idea... we did a "prom again" fundraiser last year - all had on prom dresses, and wore tiara's and sash's that said things like misbehavied, and misunderstood, and mischeif, I think mine said mislead.
we did bodyshots too (for charity) and raised $500. apparently guys like licking things off girls with lots of makeup and body glitter. who knew?
Hey Vino - Have you ever been to a Quinceaños? I might be going to one on Saturday and didn't know what to expect. Should I bring a gift or is cash OK?
With much symbolism and significance, gifts are an important part of Quinceanera traditions. They denote the young lady's acceptance by the church, by God and by the congregation (her family and friends) as a woman. She wears a tiara as a sign of leaving childhood behind and facing the challenges that lay ahead and she is also presented with either a bracelet or ring (or both) representing the unending circle of life. Earrings are a reminder to listen and pay heed to the word of God and the world around her, a cross or medallion signifies faith and a rosary or prayer book are religious resources to always remind the young lady to remember her devotion to God.
Even in the New Millennium, Hispanic girls take their Quinceanera traditions seriously. Sadly, the concept seems to be fading somewhat but many Latin American families encourage the culture to remain alive and well. By the time a fifteenth birthday approaches, the plans are well under way and the community get into the spirit and have a wonderful time.
I went to one once. There used to be a store on the corner of Annapolis and Oakdale that sold appropriate presents. It might have moved though, but there must be somewhere on the West Side that still sells that stuff.
I went to one 3 years ago - it was like prom/wedding.. the girl with her posse all in pretty dresses - huge party...
Luckily my son like to dress up back then - he was the hit when he showed up in a dress shirt & tie - all the girls wanted their picture with him.... ah to have those days back...
the gift card, I'm sure was perfect. I hope you had fun. The food is always wonderful, and there is never a shortage of drinking! I love the tradtional dances and the folklore that goes with one. Also the colors that they chose for their outfits. Last one I went to was a tangerine themed event.
The traditional gifts that kitch posted about tend to come from family - not from spectators.
I have a quinceaera bracelet actually, that I did get for my 15th birthday. One of my friends parents at the time (very traditional mexican family) gave it to me. It's gold, and very pretty. I don't wear it - but I have it.
and ill be bac in may!!!!
When in May are you planning to visit?
Depending if I win my National Director Title - I will be moving next June. If I don't win. I may move home by Christmas.

I gave a charm bracelet.
pretty dresses in the window.
It just so happens that I have one in my briefcase right now. I hope she doesn't mind a little sweat on it.
Thanks all. I see CD & DVD and jumped on the Best Buy gift certificate :eyeroll:
I'm only going for the cameo anyway.
and the Modelo
Luckily my son like to dress up back then - he was the hit when he showed up in a dress shirt & tie - all the girls wanted their picture with him.... ah to have those days back...
I threw my shirt on stage and they threw it back :sheepish: :frown:
Quinceiara's - I always do gift cards for like Macy's or a store they like to shop at - they are still teens that love clothes.
The traditional gifts that kitch posted about tend to come from family - not from spectators.

Happy Harvest!
I really love the majority of mexican culture (not the machioism - that pisses me off) but the history, and the lore behind many of their traditions.
they do a fan dance at many of their formal parties, that is really nice with the marachi dancers and band.
