OT

I worked for a guy who built a new car wash in Bloomington. He kept hounding us to go try his new state-of-the-art car wash. So one day I fight the traffic on 494 to get my car wash.

I was driving a 92 Blazer then. It was probably seven years old. I go into the wash and my car is rocking and rolling. I drive home and when I walked around the back of my car I notice that my back bumper is missing. I called him and asked if he had found a bumper in his car wash bay. He kind of sputtered and then admitted he had. I told him it was mine and his response was, "Well, it's kind of an old car anyway".

I told him it might be old, but it was what I had, and that it's illegal to drive without bumpers. So he paid to get it fixed.

should've let him hit me so I could take him to court

Trust me, you don't wanna go that route. Even if you win they appeal and then they don't pay anyways. Not worth it.

And do you really think anyone will stop and take the time to be a witness? If you do, I have a bridge I'd like to sell ya.

Being a fork truck driver for so many years, I've had the problem of turning on my blinker and trying to go backwards. I'd be turned around looking for traffic and pressing/hitting the gas and going nowhere.I always felt stupid when I did that.

Irritates of the day:

Being BROKE!!! I just paid my bills, and I am in THE POOR HOUSE - although I get paid on Friday it won't be much, cause I didn't have a lot of Vacay Time.

As much as I'm enjoying summer, I really really really want harvest to come, so I can roll in OverTime dough.

Having a good handle on getting a project done, only to have the last bit of it fight you all the way down.

Also working on said project on a holiday. It's better than the alternative come tomorrow, but it still sucks.

I'm in hell. it's 105 outside, and there are people who I am not fond of at my house. My roommate has his family over for the holiday (nice he actually cleaned the house) however, they are loud, rude, and well ... mostly loud which is annoying - it's like they can't talk, they yell. all of them.

so I've been doing my state sales tax paperwork for myself and the winery - then leaving with some friends in an hour - but until then.. it's hell.

oh, and now the son is playing the electric guitar in the living room, and people are yelling OVER it.

get me the hell out.

funny you ask that...

I called him the "no named hamster" when people ask but actually she called him baby digger the most often - we had him over a year. She had a ceremony out under the tree in Alice the other day. :frown:

we had always had female hamsters so after about a month of having him she noticed a buldge coming from underneath him and thought that (s)he had cancer like her other hamsters died from.... ... I told her "I think its a boy sweetie". :goofy:

Wondering if skipping a geocaching event to attend a grad party was a good idea.

Knowing the amount of people that will be showing up, and past experience, the few people I know at the party will be busy enough talking to all the other people they know. *sigh* maybe I'll find a person or two I can talk to that isn't too busy entertaining everyone else. If not, at least I'm driving myself, so I can skip out early...

I guess I can add, usually I feel like I'm more loyal to most of my friends than they are to me.

Boy can I relate! On both counts.

I went to a wedding reception a couple of weekends ago. The wedding was in March, in Florida, so this was just an informal reception at the bride and groom's home. I knew no one, except the bride. I tried to chat up a few people but after a few minutes of that, could see they had their own little circle of friends...

I noticed an elderly woman who looked like she was having about as much fun as I was. Struck up a conversation with her - told her I was there alone and asked if we could sit together. We both "rescued" each other and had a nice time.

Turns out, we have two mutual friends in common.

And she invited me over to see her nesting bluebirds.

Still, I was glad when my obligation felt like it was over and I could escape and go home!!

I guess I can add, usually I feel like I'm more loyal to most of my friends than they are to me.

I feel that way too! I've been trying to figure out what makes that so, in my case.

Maybe I learned it from my dad, who made a point to stay in touch with people - lifelong.

I started to type an even longer response to this part, but then realized how irritated I truly am about this!

I do know that I am almost always the person who makes the effort to stay in touch, suggest and orchestrate plans, and be on the listening end of any troubles a person might be having. My "turn" to talk? Hah!

It took me way too long to figure out that too many of my friendships were not anything resembling a two-way street.

A neighbor's son in getting married in November. I was the only neighbor invited when their first son was married a couple of years ago. They moved here from Nebraska and most of the guests at that first wedding were relatives from Nebraska. I knew no one except the neighbors. I made small talk with a few, but it still wasn't much fun. For this wedding I think I'll brush up on the NU Huskers.

_ the older I get the more suprised I seem to feel about human nature and free will in the world...and even right here with friends and aquantences. We're at the top of the food chain so to speak - some feel invincible to treat others like crap - People unintentionally and on purpose take advantage of their own human race with many naieve and selfish to their own surroundings and just waste the greatest gift given to us....life. However, there are some treasures out there... I know youre one of those gold coins in the chest. and I for one am very glad to have known you in my life. ::hug::

Though, I've found that just in the last 2 years alone that my closest friends have been very receptive to me when Ive needed SOMETHING

(wether I know what I need or not...they seem to know, and I love them for it).

I've gone to events and am going to something soon again where I don't know anyone. But thats my human nature - I want to fill my life with good memories and thoughts and try things in life that I may never get the chance at again. I make small talk with people I don't know and sometimes thats how you make a new friend... you never know where a real friend may be out there somewhere. a recent 'good for instance' was the Charles Lindberg funeral - weird reason to have the best time, but I did! it was a wonderful experience and feeling I'll never forget. I went alone- didn't see anyone I knew, however, I talked to some people. AND 2 of them thanked me for coming up and talking to them. One said most were afraid to say anything to them - he was a vietnam vet. I was able to impact his life as much as he impacted mine!

I do understand though that going to a graduation party may not bring the same satisfaction :eyeroll:

eags - It took me way too long to figure out that too many of my friendships were not anything resembling a two-way street.

been there

- however, I was never one for wanting to share my personal life right back (mostly because if I couldn't find an answer to my own problems than how could anyone else, therefor feeling it was making it a waste of their time) and I really would rather listen... until more recent, Ive opened up a little... and it feels weird to 'lean'.
