That's awesome J! I've watched that movie with Ali a few times in the past and knew what the lyrics meant but never thought about the personal relevance until now. Truly awesome! Thanks

Thank you for your support too Z. You are exactly right. Nana needs to force herself to hang out over here. And move the shrines she has up all over at her place.

Although I just moved mine last week.

I know that I've been MIA the last 8 months or so, I'm still catching up on posts in here. But WOW, such sad news for many of the cooler crew.

Friends and family of Santa Dave - I never got a chance to formally meet him but I know he was quite a character and a fine treasure hunter at heart. I bet he liked the fact that he was surrounded by all his dear friends at the time.

Nick- I know that we all dread the day we lose a parent. We usually think it's going to be much later....they were always invinsible in our eyes. In the end we can only learn from the mistakes they've made, forget their faults and try to focus on all the postives they brought to our lives.

Brad - I can't imagine what you must be going through. Sometimes life is so damn unfair. But I really believe our loved ones are never really gone. Their energy and spirit live on in us. Everytime Ali hits a milestone, she'll be there. As for the pain there is no other way around it except to walk right through it. Avoiding it or numbing it only slows the healing process. It is a long process but eventually you'll come out the other side. That's when you'll be able to remember her with smiles and laughter.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Overwhelmed by Stress?

God grant me courage to face this week

of overwhelming tasks - I can barely speak

of the meagre resources at my disposal

to respond in measure to the week's proposal.

My heart is faint, my nerves are so shaky;

I'd rather run or hide just lately.

But face it I must - it's "Do or Die!"

Surely impossible - but I have to try!

My tears well up - I feel so empty,

small and weak, with troubles plenty.

But a light shines through: "What really matters?"

"Win or lose? Dreams in tatters?"

What really matters is only this...

human warmth, a loving kiss.

If someone cares, if I'm not alone,

if someone welcomes me to their home.

The rest is just a 'piece of piss'

when measured by a heart at bliss.

And when this yardstick's done its work,

I feel my courage upwards perk.

The tasks, once huge, are viewed more lightly...

with love I'm strong - and awfully mighty!

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.

They have come to assist you through difficult times, to provide you with guidance and support,

To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are.

They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,

This person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.

Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.

They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it, it is real. But only for a seasonÂ….

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,

things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have

learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

14 years ago today I asked Amy to marry me after we were already together for 10 years. :frown: :frown:

I asked her at the alter of a small church in the Tetons. Great memory! I need to think of these more often than the ones of late that keep me up at night.

I'm impressed you remembered the date - good thing she said YES!

I would hope the good memories are what keep you up.

THE PLACE TO DO IT

IF YOU HAVE TO GET MARRIED DO IT HERE

Never been there, but it looks beautiful. I would have loved to do something cool like that, but after buying the ring, I was blindsided and had to do a makeshift proposal. Mine was the second worst proposal I have ever heard of... (but it worked)

I'm gonna try hard to make this a good day and just get through til midnight when the next day to get through begins again (not as tough though).

Does anyone have any pictures from last night's Roger Waters concert during Wish You Were Here? I have a couple of grainy shots like this one but nothing decent. I did get a great recording of the song anyway. After years of trying to make a decent live recording, I finally pulled it off for this show. But I spaced out and left my digital recorded on the floor at the end of the show. Luckily, my bro found it after a bunch of people walked by it and thought he had a bonus until I said it was mine. It was still recording and you could hear me freaking out then relieved that he found it. I think I would have gone in a deep depression if I lost that recording. It's awesome! Unfortunately, it's too big to post here.

This song along with Comfortably Numb had us crying uncontrollably. Unbelievably emotional. This was Amy's favorite song and she always said she wanted it played at her funeral. Which was done. Beautifully, I might add. But hearing it last night was crazy all over again. :frown: :frown: Especially because she was supposed to be sitting right next to me with the tickets I gave her in the hospital for our anniversary.

Here's a booklet that I've found very useful regarding the grieving process. It's written in a easy to understand manner with a soothing overtone. My Mom heard about it from a friend and ordered it from another county library. I didn't know that libraries exchange books between them. That's cool.

Friend

Don't tell me that you understand

Don't tell me that you know,

Don't tell me that I will survive

Or how I will surely grow.

Don't tell me that this is just a test

        That I am truly blessed

That I am chosen for this task

        Apart from all the rest.

Don't come at me with answers

That can only come from me

Don't tell me how my grief will pass

That I will soon be free.

        Don't stand in pious judgment

Of the bounds I must untie

Don't tell me how to suffer

And don't tell me how to cry!

My life is filled with selfishness

My pain is all I see

But I need you now

I need your love unconditionally.

Accept me in my ups and downs

        I need someone to share

Just hold my hand and let me cry

And say, "My friend, I care."

Stars out by the ocean on a clear night are the best! I love that.

lately tho - we've had fog roll in by 9pm, and it's not been good. 4th of July was an exception tho.

The best areas to view stars for me has to be either the BWCA, the Haleakala volcano on Maui or Yellowstone/Grand Tetons National Parks. Fantastic! You really feel you have no choice but to accept that we're not alone when seeing that many other worlds out there. We were up on Big Sandy lake this last weekend and you could see the Milky Way perfectly. I felt like I was at a Motley Crue concert during Home Sweet Home and stars replaced lighters. Very cool!
