Got in right at 10:00 on the nose and they were already sold out. I know this is gonna be a new record of some sort. I hope Hannah Montana has two shows now. :frown:
My candidate - the one who I got a job for, and earned enough of a comission to pay for my honeymoon, lock, stock and barrel - it turns out she failed her drug test. So, she's out of a job, I'm out three grand, and she's also banned from my org.
Hey! Does the job pay well? I'd pass the drug test and I hardly know who Bob Marley is! Is he that guy with the funky hair? Dreads I think they call it? Do I know too much?
I just had a trucker call me to say he had grapes on the scale. I asked him - to please be more specific. He repeated. Grapes.
I said what kind? he said purple ones.
then i get back up to my office to a call - that is for someone who hasn't worked here in like 4 years - who isn't even at this facility. The man insists that THIS is the number he used to call her. I INSIST that it isn't cause it's been my number for 5 years here.
He hangs up on me - and CALLS AGAIN... and AGAIN.
I have 2 voicemails now - thanks to this guy.
do you think i'm gonna do anything with them? nope.
I have an issue with drug testing.. well - not so much with drug testing, but with the tolerance levels they allow in your system.
My roommate - who is an ass at many many things - and smokes ALOT - is an extremely competant, excellent winemaker. He doesn't smoke at or during work etc - and he is a model employee.
lucky for him - just about all the small family wineries in the area.. happen to have 'smokin' people who run them, so drug testing isn't done.
my point? unlike alcohol - which if you have a cocktail the night before - it won't register as you still being drunk... weed stays in your system for a long long time, and if you have build up - no matter what your current 'state' of mind is - you are going to fail the test.
crank, cocaine & heroine users have a better shot of staying clean long enough to pass the pee test. (and chances are - they are more apt to use at work anyway)
because of WWE's "wellness policy", and the recent bust on Signature Pharmacy - they had to suspend a buncha wrestlers, and we're now forced to watch people like the Great Khali, and even more John Cena.....
my work proxys....only one i can get to work now is google for mobile phones...allows me to get in here...but i need to click click click to read just a little bit...
I don't have a problem with drug testing, but probably only because I've never done anything.
Heck all I wonder about is that poppyseed myth and if that really causes ya to fail one.
Oh, my workplace had to let a sales guy go today. He fell off the wagon, pretty hard, and hasn't shown up in a few days. It's the second time it's happened since he started here.
Oh well, on to bigger and better things. Gonna check out monster.com today. I also looked at Geek Squad, but I have no idea what their pay rate is (since a lot of their employees seem a bit young, I'm not sure if they pay well or not).
So, my boss here is big on this whole environmental and "Go Green" thing. You know, recycling, energy saving, planting trees, carbon offsets, blah blah et. infinitum.
Anyways, he's discussing processes here today, and wants to have a paper trail for every order we process. It basically means printing 2 extra pages of paper where we used to have it all done on the computer.
Where's the sense in that, when you're trying to save trees and all that mumbo jumbo?
Irony. I used to work for a medical device company that was under policy of our parent company that there be no smoking on work property.
The company offered to pay for any and all smoking cessation programs the employee and their family wanted. It was made quite clear that by a certain date (about 18 months out) smoking would not be permitted under any circumstances.
Once the rule went into effect, people started smoking in their cars (in the parking lot, on work property) and walking just off the property to smoke on the public walking trails.
The parent company decided that since smoking is often an addiction and the people who smoke probably were addicted and unable to quit, that making them cross the parking lot might result in someone slipping and falling or meeting with some other type of accident while getting to their smoking destination, so they erected a smoking gazebo on work property, which took up a good chunk of the patio.
So, the people who wanted to eat their lunch on the patio were right next to the smoking gazebo and with so many smokers, it really did get pretty smoky smelling in the whole patio area.
And, the bakery would deliver bread before the cafeteria people got there in the morning, and they would leave it in the gazebo, so the sandwiches and bagels and donuts all smelled of smoke.
I still can't see the sense in having a rule that can't be broken by simple means, like standing outside and smoking, but can be bent by expensive means (multiple thousands of dollars for a smoking gazebo) which then allows smoking on the property. Wouldn't it have made more sense to just change the policy?
Some of us kept bring up this irritation at the quarterly meetings. If people can't help having to smoke, then what about other behaviors that are not illegal, but are not allowed in the workplace? Why not a drinking gazebo? A gambling gazebo? A blonde-joke gazebo? A sex gazebo?
Finally the VP said he would no longer entertain gazebo questions at the quarterly meeting. But they never did give us any good answers, nor did they put up any of the other specialty gazebos.
Heh, yeah that's a good one too. I loved your arguement about other gazebos. I never did quite see why certain behaviors are catered to while others aren't.
2 and a half hour power failures - brought on because last night they brought up 3 new transformers.
in the middle of harvest.
with a truck on the scale to weigh out - who had to wait - and now my turn around time to get him back is going to be forever,
and 3 trucks sitting here - cause the presses couldn't run.
oh, and when the power did come back on... the scale freaked out - cause the truck was on it - and we thought we blew the load cells (really expensive)
thankfully - my scale man - was an exit away, and came to check it - turns out we just had to back the truck off it (easier said than done - with doubles) and reset everything.
Have you tried the box office at the Target Center itself? Like stopped in? I do that with the venues here - and get tickets without the service charges - plus sometimes if they think they are sold out on line - it's not the case at the actual box office.
This is the guy I gave the tour to the other day at the winery... pepe aguilar looks like he's coming to a venue near you soon...
News interviewed 2 sisters trying to get tickets for their daughters - One worked the phones - the other stood in line at Target Center - another family was at a Ticket master outlet and a couple other members worked the Internet - they all came up empty - one got on-line 2 minutes into sale but no 4 seats were together so they revised to get 2 sets of 2 seats and it came back sold out!
Reports were that no one can do anything and with the Internet all hands are tied when it comes to regulating..... B.S...
Here's a thought - If an artist really cared - they can put stipulations on sales, like having only upper deck seats available on-line - lower level seats only sold at the venue (like at the Target center) - After the first day of sales, then go back to regular sales.
Or how about day one of ticket sales at the venue - then day two available by phone & Internet - There are ways.
But like the sisters reported - they are just in it to make a buck and they really don't care about the fans!
Welcome to the club! We married the weekend before the 4th of July and we both had started new jobs so we decided to wait until we could really enjoy our dream honeymoon/vacation....... that was 11 years ago and I am still waiting.
Alotta times, when we cant get tix for wrestling events, ahead of time, we'll just wait til the day of the event, and buy them from the arena's box office....
sometimes, people may have pre-ordered them for pickup, and then later cancelled, so the tickets become available at the last second...
Tried that for a few concerts, as well...
Its worked pretty good for getting us some really good seats....
You shouldn't. He's a lifelong alchoholic who's in total denial about his sickness. What's ruining his life isn't the sickness, it's his shame of it. I have a similar disease that I deal with on a daily basis, but it doesn't ruin my life, because I don't hide it and I'm not ashamed of it, he is.
And I don't care what people say, you look great in a pink dress Bear. People just need to understand that cross-dressing is a disease not a fetish. Unforgiving bastards!
Furthermore, when he was going through the recruitment process, he out and out lied about it. So through four interviews, all his backgrounding, and all of the conversations he had with me, he lied about it.
now thats hilarious!
I have not done that in sooo long-
thanks soooo much for reminding me what toejam tastes like --- nummy eeeeew

The area is directly next to the rear entrance so you have to walk through the smoke to enter.
how else am I to get a break at work
hahaha hmmmmmmm :ooh: :sheepish:
a guy and a girl at another winery got busted the other day having sex in theirs. :pbpt:
