KC - the whole Weight watchers thing has been doing really well for me.

You don't even have to go to the meetings or what ever - they have have an online version - which is awesome, much less math than calorie counting - and they've taken out a lot of the surprises.

such as 90% of the salads in restaurants ARE NOT the healthiest choice on the menu...

Thanks for the tip Vino. Actually I've looked around at that sort of stuff.

I think going month to month though, I've tried to make a goal and stick to it. Some months are easier than others. Like cutting out pop, tough one considering the darned stuff is so easy to get.

Really I've proved to myself I can do something about it if I just put my mind to it. I don't need a fancy program or anything, just enough data to let me know how I'm doing. I have noticed progress, it's just been slower than I think I could do.

Of course, if you try to do too much, you just give up, so that's why I've tried to make my goals realistic.

was doing the same thing pre WW.

But I needed someone else to hold me accountable.

Something i noticed on a bet a few years back with a friend (it was to not eat red meat for a month or something stupid..I'll take a lot of dumb bets..) I dropped like 6 pounds that month.

well - in WW books, 4oz of chicken is like 7pts. 4 oz of steaks is like 17 - huge difference.

the number 1 advice I can give - make your plate 2/3's veggies and 1/3 total meat and starch.. (and corn FYI is a starch not a veggie.. for those who don't know)

have you ever checked out the couch to 5K program ?

I'm starting that after harvest - maybe sooner if I can find some time to run

Cute story that happened today...

Yesterday I did a weigh tag favor for a small winery down the street - 4 weightags of weighing - nothing special - they brought me a bottle of wine to say thank you for it.

Well the Driver (their vineyard guy) brought in the loads (and I had given him my cell number cause I didn't want him using the winery contact - as doing so would bring down everyone and their uncle here for grape inspections, and it wasn't our fruit.. just a favor)

on one of the trips he brought me an energy drink.. which was sweet and I said thank you.

Then today - i get a phone call from him.

asking me if I am married - and if he can call me???

apparently he is 25 and has 3 kids and hasn't been in a r/s in 7 years.. all stuff that he told me in about a 30 second conversation...

then.. his phone cut out. Just like in the wireless comericals.

hahahahahaha

I am shocked - I wasn't even dressed nicely, like stains on my shirt yucky... - no make up - my hair was nasty tied in a knot -

ha.

told my office mate about it - after she finished laughing - she reminded me that many of the mexican mommacita's are real witches after they triple in size after snagging a mate from eatting several of their off-spring.

She just thinks he figures I'm less evil than what ever X he left 7 years ago... and if a man has been turned off of women for 7 years.. she must be a real winner.

hahahahahaha

I have yet to be to Costa Rica.. and I don't think my personal finances can handle both - but you never know!

This one is a strange enjoy - but here goes.

When I went to see the Dr last week about my bruise, she suggested that instead of downing so much advil like I normally do - to try this homeopathic remedy called Traumeel.

It's for bruising, muscular pain, inflammation, sports injuries etc. etc.

It works killer - I've taken it twice now, and it really does relive the pain - however it makes me feel a lil strange (in kinda a good way).. but the #1 active ingredient is 4x75mg of Belladonna.
Mon, 09/10/2007 - 7:21 AM Permalink
Wicked Nick

no wonder it makes ya feel weird - it has Belldonna....
Mon, 09/10/2007 - 7:50 AM Permalink
Love4Vino

yeah. it also has arnica, etc. etc. etc. I'm taking about 1/3 of the daily recommended dose that my doc says I can take (1 instead of 3 tabs)

but i do have to say, that my heel hasn't felt this good in quite a while.
Mon, 09/10/2007 - 8:54 AM Permalink

Are your pupils dilated? Victorian women used to take belladonna to dilate their pupils so they'd be more sexually attractive. Victorian women weren't all prudes as we're led to believe.

Making some positive changes.

Actually this whole last weekend I resolved to get a few things straightened out. Kinda took a look at my life and where it was headed, and decided I really didn't want to be in the same situation in another 5 to 10 years.

Probably means a few things, like saving some $$ to either get my own place or less likely find the right woman and then find a place. Either way, I just feel like I don't want to copy my roommates and just be comfortable living where I am. Somehow I gotta get some equity, and throwing money away on rent isn't going to do it. Besides, maybe if I did move out, they might be more inclined to better themselves (my one roommate that doesn't drive hasn't had a job in years, how he manages, I don't know).

Along with the saving money and whatnot, I don't see much of a future at my current place of employment. It's been over a year, and I haven't received a single raise, not to mention I'm fairly underpaid for my responsibilities as is. Obviously that has to change, and most likely sooner than when I can get my own place to live. So, polish up the ol resume, start looking at jobs and getting some applications and interviews in, even if they're just practice ones.

I guess that sucky day on Friday, and just life in general lately, has got me thinking about that sorta stuff.

I really swear by homeopathic stuff. I've taken arnica for injuries and apis for bug bites. The Bach flower remedies seem helpful too. I've done some reading of all the different homeopathic remedies and how one chooses the correct one. Based on very specific symptoms, such as fever with sweating vs. fever without sweating.

my Doc is really into all of it - she referred me to a lady at a local store who has been with that store - for 24 years.

Really knowledgable. I'm liking i so far - although i still feel a little strange.

Vino, do I remember you saying you use an inhaler for asthma? One isn't supposed to take belladonna if you have asthma. Maybe this is why you feel strange.

how about ear wax candles???

haven't tried them but I know people who have - they swear that they work great, feels so clean, they hear better afterwards, just not to try to do them alone.
Mon, 09/10/2007 - 11:04 AM Permalink
Love4Vino

only use the inhaler before my games, and she didn't say anything about it.. she knows of both meds - as she put me on them.

I think i just feel strange - cause belladonna is a poison, and my body is saying.. what the HELL are you putting in me.

the strangeness has gone away - of course I have eaten now as well - which may have something to do with it.
Mon, 09/10/2007 - 12:57 PM Permalink
Love4Vino

I've used them. They are totally awesome.

You do need someone else to sit there and monitor it tho - cause it should be lifted straight up and down and also, they need to check the alignment in the ear - for maximum efficiency.

I candled my ears about a year ago - it's killer. you do hear much better, and it feels amazing.
