Hi Me2, I'm not sure what your job is but it seems you have a lot of access to Minnesota History.
I hope it isn't asking too much if you could see what you could dig up about a Minnesota piano company. My husband and I are buying an antique piano, and I am not finding a lot of info online. Here's what I have so far:
The piano logo:
Wesley Piano
Trade R Mark
Manufactured by
The S.W. Raudenbush Co.
St. Paul
Info I've found:
S.W. Raudenbush....Samuel W. Raudenbush
wife..Alma H.
Sons... W.R.(Webb R.) and F.M.
Resided at 789 West Lincoln Ave (built in 1889 by F.H. Raudenbush)
Company also known as Raudenbush & Sons located on the corner of University and Pilsbury St.
2 dates for company 1905-1935 and 1883-1936
I found this fascinating since I never heard of a Minnesota piano compny. There isn't much on the MHS website either. The piano is beautiful and they are known to stay well tuned for decades.
789 West Lincoln Avenue: F. H. Raudenbush House; Built in 1889 (1905 according to Ramsey County property tax records); Georgian Revival in style. The structure is a two story, 3408 square foot, nine room, five bedroom, three bathroom, two half-bathroom, frame house, with a detached garage. The 1930 city directory indicates that Samuel W. Raudenbush, president of Raudenbush & Sons Piano Company, and his wife, Alma H. Raudenbush, resided at this address. The property was last sold in 2004 with a sale price of $852,000. The current owners of record of the property are Susan Silberhorn and Ty Silberhorn, formerly of Garden Prairie, Illinois. Ty Silberhorn was the founder of Chicago-based Selecterra, a material conversion company, and is the business unit manager for 3M Label Materials, the result of a 2002 combination of Emtech Emulsion Technologies, Inc. of Medina, Ohio, founded in 1986, and 3M. 3M, the former Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company, is a $16 billion diversified technology company with leading positions in health care, safety, electronics, telecommunications, industrial, consumer and office, and other markets that is headquartered in St. Paul.
Samuel W. Raudenbush (1896- ), a Private, was a World War I veteran, who resided at 2382 Doswell in 1919. Jesse B. Raudenbusch (1894- ), a Sergeant, Stacy D. Raudenbusch (1888- ), a Private, and Henry A. Raudenbush (1896- ), a Sergeant, were World War I veterans who also resided at 2382 Doswell in 1919. Raudenbush & Sons Piano Company, established in 1883, produced both upright and grand pianos in small numbers. Macalester College has a Samuel Wesley Raudenbush Memorial that was established in 1956 by Mrs. Alma M. Raudenbush as a memorial to her husband and is awarded to a Protestant woman junior music major at the college. Samuel W. Raudenbush ( -1940) died in Ramsey County. Alma Hartman Raudenbush (1871-1956) was born in Minnesota, had a mother with a maiden name of Stelzer, and died in Ramsey County. The current owner of record of the property is Kathleen A. Wilson.
I think I did a little history on that company about a year ago. When I get in to work I'll check my records. I remember the University and Doswell addresses.
I found out some info from the piano company that moved our piano.
Raudenbush made excellent pianos. They bascially copied Steinway's designs. Their upright pianos are taller than others so the longer strings give it a richer sound like that of a baby grand. The company like so many others fell prey to the great depression and closed in 1936.
If you google the company name, there are a number of sites that give info about how to tell, by the serial number on the piano, exactly when it was made, and often the serial number ties into certain features that piano has.
When I bought my piano, I was able to find out that it has a mahogany soundboard, and a few other cool details about it.
The guy who was selling it just wanted it gone - he was moving. He called my piano tuner and asked him to come and get it - either sell it or recycle it. The piano tuner called me and asked me if I wanted it. For $200 I got a piano worth around $2500.
Thank you!! again for the BOok you so didnt have to but I love it I wanted to start crying when you did!!! because it is so sweet of you!! to do something like that!!! Thank you So much!!!

So, I'm on my way home tonight down 35W towards Crosstown and I spot this nice looking shiny car up ahead. I decide to speed up and check it out. Low and behold it's a nice clean black STS. It was like looking in a mirror with the tint, rims, moonroof, grill and all. I decide to take a picture of it since I don't see many just like me on the road. After the first shot I can't help but notice the personalized license plate. Which I have as well. But this beauty didn't say Clueman. It said something that made me think a bit more feminine. I couldn't help but follow it all the way to the cut off taking pictures the entire way. Unfortunately, this was the best I could get. And had to use some PS gamma filtering to capture the plate itself.
nice find

It reminded me of someone. Huh
Thought that one was weird.
I love it
everytime I turn on ktis
Here I am Lord and I'm drowning
In your sea of forgetfulness
The chains of yesterday surround me
I yearn for peace and rest
I don't want to end up where you found me
And it echoes in my mind
Keeps me awake tonight
As the East is from the West
And I stand before you now
I feel like I'm just one mistake away
From you leaving me this way
Jesus can you show me
Just how far the East is from the West
Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Come rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
Cause you know just how far the East is from the West
From one scarred hand to the other
I start the day the war begins
Endless reminding of my life
Time and time again
Your truth Is drowned out by the storm I'm in
Today I feel like I'm just one mistake away
From you leaving me this way
Jesus can you show me
Just how far the East is from the West
Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Come rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
Cause you know just how far the East is from the West
From one scarred hand to the other
I know you've washed me white
Turned my darkness into light
I need your peace to get me through
To get me through this night
I can't live by what I feel
But by the truth your word reveals
I'm not holding on to you
But your holding on to me
Your holding on to me
Jesus, you know just how far
The East is from the West
I don't have to see the man I've been
Come rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
(The arms of your mercy I find rest)
Cause you know just how far the East is from the West

I'm wondering if he has anymore of those
it looks like an 1991 quarter..but its double headed...
and has eradicane on one side written on it..
and has fusilane on the other
Theres only one way up so your hearts got to go there
Through the darkest nights
You see the light shine bright
When heroes fall in love or war they live forever
(chorus)
This is a song for the lonely, can you hear me tonight?
For the broken hearted, battle scarred
Ill be by your side
And this is a song for the lonely
When your dreams wont come true
Can you hear this prayer
Because someones there for you
Though love dont need a reason
She can pick you up or leave you bleeding
Ive seen a strong man cry
I know the reason why
We all forgive, we all forget
We just keep believing
(chorus)
This is a song for the lonely, can you hear me tonight?
For the broken hearted, battle scarred
Ill be by your side
And this is a song for the lonely
When your dreams wont come true
Can you hear this prayer
Because someones there for you
Dont give up, so let it find you
Just hold on, wherever you may go
Anywhere, Im right beside you
You dont have to look no more
You dont have to look no more
(chorus)
This is a song for the lonely, can you hear me tonight?
For the broken hearted, battle scarred
Ill be by your side
And this is a song for the lonely
When your dreams wont come true
Can you hear this prayer
Because someones there for you
Its gonna be alright
Its gonna be alright
Its gonna be alright
