New update on Dad... despite the good cat scan and the good pet scan Dad's psa is rising at an alarming rate. The doctor decided to take Dad off of the study. I am flying out on Mon night and Tues morning they are going to biopsy his liver to determine if there is any change and get him into a new program.

Thanks everyone... we meed all the prayers we can get! He had the biopsy yesterday and is feeling really good today. They need 14 days to analyze it in the lab and chart our next course of action. They are designing a treatment based on the cell structure and of the tumors and his DNA make-up so hopefully it will be a really good fit. The docs cleared him to fly so we plan on arriving in Mn. Sat evening. He is due back out here (Scottsdale) on the 9th of Nov. so he will get to spend a little time with friends, pet the dogs and hang out in his own bed. They have been out here a little over a month now so needless to say he is anxious to get home. The weather here has been perfect... in the 90's during the day which is actually very comfortable and down to the low 70's at night. Last night a herd of javelinas (wild pigs) woke me up foraging outside my bedroom window. There were 14 of them and they had 3 babies... my folks have been feeding them, throwing doggie biscuits over the fence so they are not one bit afraid of humans. I stood by the fence and watched them gobble up the food in my nightgown... thank god we are in a remote location. This morning I was making Dad some scrambled eggs and looked out the window and saw a coyote walking along the fence. The folks have seen a bobcat and rattlesnakes too... so lots of wildlife. The sunsets out here are breathtaking! I sit out on the patio with a glass of wine and just watch the sun sinking into the mountain. Really looking forward to getting home to Ares and the kids but enjoying my time with Dad.

yup... same airport.

Too many bad days... Dad going downhill and feeling sick... they weren't able to get enough tissue in the biopsy and are going to decide if they want to do another on Tuesday. He is down over 60 lbs weak and sick. Made it out for a few minutes on Sat to see my Sarah all dressed up for homecoming. damn... feel like he is slipping away and we can't seem to stop it. Helpless feeling.

Give him as many hugs as you can as I hear personal contact is a big thing in healing.

Thanks CM. It is unreal how fast someone can go downhill... scary. He doesn't even look like himself. We are trying to hold on to hope but some days are easier than others. He has had a tough time even getting out of bed this week. The worst part is that he feels so sick all the time... weak is easier to deal with than sick... and there isn't anything you can do to make him feel better. :frown:

That's hard to deal with too. I can't even look at pictures of Amy in the hospital because it really wasn't her. Big squeeze to you TC. I sent your dad an e-mail to let him know we're thinking about him. Even if he won't get it. You're still in Arizona aren't you?

I wish I woulda bucked up my feelings better and been there more in my dads last days. Four of my kids are playing in a Halloween softball tournament today. Theur tean is dressed as pirates. I'm going to go and catch the afternoon games.
