getting to go out for a lil bit last night with some friends. We met up with the out of towners for a lil bit. I was only out for about an hour and a half (almost took me that long with my lazy shower and takes-forever-to-dry hair to get ready.
I thought it was hilarious when the sandcrawlers pulled up to one another, and the Jawa passed the grey poupon to the other. And the other hilarious part is when Peter says they came out into an asteroid field, and the screen shows the Asteroids game. But yeah, there were a bunch of funny scenes on there. And for those who haven't seen the Robot Chicken Star Wars episode, you need to look it up on YouTube.
As some of you may know - I have a geeky side of me where I've taped every single Simpson's beginning ever aired on American TV since the beginning. I just found this one made by some guy that is Star Wars related. Pretty good stuff. Now to figure out how to get it on the compilation DVD.
I know what is all this fat talk you want to see fat!!!! Look at me I am afrade to look at myself in the morrir so I dont I do my hair in the dark and shower where no one can see me!!!
I want to be healthy tho. I have a specific goal body fat % wise now - and I am going to hit it.
There are few things I've wanted as much as getting thin again. Too much bad stuff (heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, thyroid, high blood pressure - yada yada yada) run in my family.
On the news yesterday they said that bmi isn't for everyone - that you can be fat and be healthy. One of the things that caught my attention was that they said be sure to keep your waist smaller than your hips.... NO PROBLEM HERE with that one :eyeroll:
AND they said you can eat before bedtime too - just keep it healthy food-
it's not my BMI that I'm worried about - that is well within the normal range for me now. It's my total body fat - which BMI doesn't account for. BMI doesn't account for total bodyfat or the location of it.
as for the hip to waist ratio .. my hips are barely - BARELY an inch larger than my waist - yet - even at like 14 when I was a little stick - I had the same problem. - I have no hips.
One of my co-workers and I are going to try to measure our BMI's today. I tried to do it last night myself - but I was tired from my game, and I kept grabbing muscle when i'd measure - cause it's hard to grab & hold and squeeze the caliper at the same time on yourself.
I went to the midnight release of Halo 3 with a friend of mine. Heh, it was funny to see all the teenagers/college students without a care in the world there.
We got the game and played it for a bit, up till about 1:30am. And I still made it in to work today.
After working at this job for the past 1 1/2 years and eating lunch with the same co-worker daily...today we were talking about all the down bursts of rain we've been getting, which brought memories of a flood back in the late 70's where she remembers swimming in the streets... I said yeah me too - so I asked where she was from.. she said Richfield!
Wow I lived in Richfield (thinking she was a couple of years younger than me) to find she graduate a year after me! We both attended the same middle school (there were 2) and that her husband (also from Richfield) hung around with the guys that I hung around with..
Brought a smile to my face for the rest of the day - remembering fond memories - got home and dug out the old year books and began looking at the pictures...I remember her!!
I was just thinking about a "100 year rain" that hit the twin cities one summer evening in 1987. I think we got about 10 inches of rain in a very short period of time. I have a lot of stories about that night, but the most amazing thing, to me, was the water on Crosstown 62 almost all the way up to the overpasses in some places. I think there was a photo of the Gleason exit, showing the water level. I've tried to find those photos online - no luck. Might have to stop in at a library there sometime and see what I can find.
I don't remember that particular rain storm, but I do remember one in the very early '80's that resulted in 494 being shut down for several days from Bloomington to Eden Prairie.
I was shopping at Southdale that night with my daughters and we almost got stuck in that mess. In places I drove through water up to the doors, and from news reports later, the road was shut down shortly after we drove it.
That was the super storm. Thunderstorms stalled and kept circling over the Twin Cities for hours and hours. Started late afternoon and continued and continued way into the evening. My in-laws out in Kandiyohi and up in Sunburg, (west central Minnesota) could see the thunderheads and see the rotation.
Inks and the guy next door would go out and try scooping water out of the window wells to keep the water from coming in around the basement windows. Then some lightening would get too close, they would feel the hair rise on their necks and come back in.
Eags, I think your guessing around 10 inches is about right.
Well, today is my wedding anniversary, and for the first time in seven years I'm going to the cemetery to release my balloon in a different frame of mind. I'm going to reflect on what was and not on what could have been. It is what it is and it was good. A lot of people don't even have that and I was blessed.
Mags was playing soccer that evening. The coach wouldn't call the game, even when lightning was appearing to get really close. The parents finally started just taking their kids home.
I was at work - at St. John's Eastside hospital - that evening. We moved any patients who could be moved out into the hallway. I had a new surgical patient who could not be moved, so I sat with her in her tiny room, with the huge windows.
A couple of times, I tried to call home to see if everyone was OK. No answer, cuz they were still at the soccer field at that time. That was Mags' second close encounter with lightning. Interesting that he's an electrician now.
I have a pretty good story too. We lived in an apartment at the time and it snowed so much the snow was up to people's car hoods. No one could get out of the lot and there was no traffic on the roads at all. Everyone in the apartment got together and we set up a bar in the hall. Eventually the liquor ran out and someone had the idea of calling a liquor store to see if they delivered. They did! I think the liquor delivery guy was the only person out and about, as there was no paper or mail delivery that day. :goofy:
actually its more than .4 - but thanks to the fact that I know the weather is going to be getting colder and colder - I wore pants rather than shorts for my weigh in today - so I had a little extra clothing weight.
I'm ok with that. figured it was a strategic week to do it - and next week I'll be sliding further down the scale!
My mother used to tell us her story of that blizzard. She had been shopping downtown and was coming home on the street car when it became bogged down in snow. Everyone had to get out and walk home. In her case it was about a mile in that storm.
After days of looking at this amazing single serving, fancy coffee making, state of the art piece of equipment that looks like it would take a pilots license to operate... finding a good old fashioned 12 cupper under the cupboard and for the first time in days.... enjoying a great cup of coffee!

Robot Chicken Top 10 Star Wars Scenes
I used to drive my forktruck up to people at work and tell them that, then drive away.
I thought they did a good job with the animation on this episode. They recreated it pretty good in Family Guy style.

Not sure if that should *really* be on the ENJOY page, though!
Although it was fun and exciting while it was happening, cuz I was able to stay home, and we didn't lose power - fun being snowed in.
But it was NOT fun driving to work in Minnetonka for the next few weeks - the freeways were like washboards and the side streets were even worse.

What you said - "it is what it is" - has been my new motto recently!
Wishing you a day of beautiful memories, OT.
