The phone dialers wouldn't have worked in this situation....

it used to...but internet buyers are all over the world for this.....not just local...

If a kid was smart he would not only try to buy local tickets for H.M. he would try to buy tickets for every sale worldwide...

IMHO...ticketmaster knows how to fix this as well as the promoters...how??

easy...all cities go on sale at the same EXACT TIME!!!

2nd...local ticket venues such as the box office get a hour hour headstart...

but they DON'T want to fix the problem...they want this to happen as they are going to make a ton off the aftermarket scaping as well..

He broke it playing basketball, landed on the coaches foot when coming down from a lay-up. Another looooonnnnnnnnnngggggggggg day today, but they put him in a walking cast for at least 4 weeks. Sounds like he'll be down for about 6 weeks and he'll be able to play basketball yet this year. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts!

That is very disappointing Bear. As you might know, I was a scalper for years but have never seen tickets harder to get than these HM tickets. I see this as a marketing genius myself. How can you fault someone who develops a personality into one that has a show on Disney who plays a closet rock star on TV only to become a real star in real life? I think it's brilliant. What a fat fan base that includes almost every single girl from the age of 7-17 PLUS their parents and siblings.

Then do what every successful TV music star does and TOUR! see Hilary Duff - which I was able to squeak some tickets for

I think they need to go back to the old distribution method of giving a stack of preprinted tickets to the various ticket outlets around town. Couple that with the whole tour going on sale at once, and you might have a chance of pleasing the most people. Sure, there will be those who camp out for scalping reasons only, but it'll add to the cost of the major ticket-resellers overhead to pay for those local schmucks to camp out all night. I know I didn't do it cheaply.

And as a kudos to myself, yes Kitch it's like that WTF thing, I think I was the first person to figure out that you could call long distance to an East coast city to purchase tickets by phone before the days they were available on-line. Maybe not the first in the country but the first locally anyway since there was a three year period where I got nothing but the first 5 rows to every singe concert I did or didn't want to go to. Then I started opening up my big fricken mouth and bragged how I always got those awesome tickets. Six months later that gravy train ended. :frown:

I made a ton of cash and never had to pay for a single concert or hotel room. Needless to say I USED to have a bunch of friends. I wonder where they went? :eyeroll: :eyeroll:

I love you guys. You don't love me for my tickets.

Open Office is compatible with all of the MS Office programs (that I am aware of). You can even save documents as "*.doc" files (actual MS Word formatting). I love Open Office. It is free for download and they are continuously updating it at http://www.openoffice.org

I first got it back around 2002/2003 somewhere. It is the best bang for the buck IMHO.

pushy interviewers for job openings, who dont even know what they're looking for.

add to that - the fact that they dont know where their own office is located, and they waste my time having me drive all over town, trying to find them....

and they're not even going to hire me!

people who think that just because you have a house, that they should be able to throw a party there....

and who then get pissed off when you say no, and tell them that you'll be out of town anyways...

being a terrible parlimentarian.

My girls made a decision this week without consulting me (I was at work when they met) and it was not a bright idea, nor was it good for the club as a whole.

so now I have to stand up with a bunch of the past presidents, and bring this back to the board and tell them they didn't have the authority and have them rescend the decision.

drama. drama drama. :frown:

talking it out with my fellow PP's and us finding the solution - to have the board rescind their vote.

which means there are two members who are going to be really really pi$$ed off at me, cause they are now not getting free trips to Arizona.

but I can deal with that. I just feel bad about being the one to have to stand up and say - you can't do this.

sometimes the right decision, isn't the popular one - and that sucks.

Similar situation in my old group that I found out about... there were 2 members who used the group as a personal platform and changed the budget to include a $700 Convention line (meaning the group would pay for fees & hotels for convention for these 2 members)... most of the group voted no, but they don't have a very active group at meetings so "they said" they took an email vote and it passed.... but could not prove w/any documentations, so now the NEW board has to go and try to repair all this.

Historically the group would pay the convention fee ($50 4times a year) to send one person to convention (if no one was already going) to represent the chapter, but they would pay for all other expenses incurred. In the 3 years I was there, I never saw anyone use that money because they wanted it to go into the "leftover" fund. (at the end of the year we would keep $200 in the bank for next year start up $$ and donate the rest to organizations into the community). As that is the MAIN focus of what our group does!!

I'm soooo glad I transferred out of that group or there would have been HUGE fireworks!!!

yup. same kinda thing Kat- except these girls who voted on it, weren't sending themselves. They just didn't know.

So now I had to teach them how to countermand a board action, and blah blah blah. It's a sticky situation.

This year at our retreat - besides pillow fights and making rice krispy treats and dancing in our underwear to old cyndi lauper sonds all night long, we are going to be playing a game called Parli Pro.

(it's the use of robert's rules of order) I'm going to have to make it fun tho.. otherwise they chicas will never learn it.

speaking of diets and all. These ladies on the elevator at work today were talking about their diets, listing off stuff they could eat, like grapefruit and dry toast.

Man if I ever get like that, shoot me. Just because I'm trying to eat better and exercize more doesn't mean I have to torture myself in the process.

Oh btw I had Izzy's ice cream last night, and I'm still down a few pounds from last week. So there.
Mon, 10/08/2007 - 8:42 AM Permalink
Love4Vino

good for you KC! I don't do the crash diets, but there are a lot of things out there that I just really shouldn't eat.

For instance the small 99 cent pack of cheetos flammin hots - are 12 points (i.e. 490 calories and 32 grams of fat with less than 2 grams of fiber) I get 19 points a day.

There is nothing saying I 'Can't' Have these, but in the grand scheme of things, figuring out their points - make me realize they aren't a healthy option, and that I'm better off to have something else.

I had 2 biscoti's dipped in chocolate instead, and then swam for 45 minutes to counter act the calories anyway.
Mon, 10/08/2007 - 9:21 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

Meh, I'm not going to get that technical.

I don't get the points thing anyway, counting calories is bad enough. But I do know that has helped a little. Still, I figure as long as I can drop a couple pounds a week, I can still enjoy eating whatever I want (obviously it'll just be less of it).

Anything more drastic and I'm liable to either give up or do that whole roller coaster thing, which I'd rather not do.

BTW, why would you want to eat cheetos? Yuck...

Oh and one good thing, I can still enjoy my coffee, as I never put anything in it.

Except today, I'm a bit under the weather, and coffee just isn't very good when I don't feel good.
Mon, 10/08/2007 - 10:03 AM Permalink
Love4Vino

I don't put anything in my coffee either - although as a treat sometimes I put fat free cocoa in coffee - but that's more like, hey I want cocoa, and a caffine spike too.

the points are easier than counting calories - cause you don't have to add as much. I only have to get to 19 each day - I don't have to think this has 400, and this has 200 and this has 7 grams of fiber etc. etc. etc. I just have a quick little calulator and a book that says - this is this and that is that - and poof a number appears.

what it's taught me is that eatting foods in their whole form (i.e. grains, fresh fruits, veggies) is easy, and filling. (and it's reflecting it their low point values)

I'm putting away summer clothes today. Getting rid of a bunch of things I didn't wear this year. That's always a good feeling.

I changed over my urns on the front steps from flowers to pumpkins, gourds and berries today too. They look very nice if I do say so myself. I've been looking for bittersweet and can't find it any cheaper than $15 a branch, so I broke off some of the smaller branches on my flowering crab that have red berries on them and like them better than the bittersweet.

I do low fat cheese, and FF cheese. I'm a big fan of Goat over regular so it's a huge fat% savings right there.

I also eat greek yogurt, and at 0% fat, the creamy texture is satisfying and you don't miss the fat. (I mix in honey for breakfast and fruit) I also use it inplace of sour cream now.

Grapefruit juice slows activity of the liver enzyme that metabolizes Lipitor. This can lead to high levels of this drug, raising the risk of rhabdomyolysis.

Rhabdomyolysis is a severe muscle reaction that can cause death.

its also linked to kidney failure...and lord knows I love my kidney's
