Hey Love4Vino, have you been able to surf the web again on your work computer? I know you mentioned they were installing software that would prevent you from doing that.
If you have an upgrade version, you need to have another version of windows installed to 'upgrade' to. The full version of the new system is on the disk, but when you buy an upgrade version, you are only paying for the upgrade key (The many number/letter code you need to authenticate your version versus anyone elses. If you had a full version of the new operating system you would have the full version key code and would be able to start from scratch.
Why would be able to receive emails but unable to send out new ones? I have satelite internet. They (wildblue) said it was a microsoft problem but a friend of mine said they're full of crap.
possibly your outgoing mail server is busy. If it worked before, don't change any of your settings. Maybe it will clear up in time. How longs it been doing that?
You could always send something from a different server like yahoo or hotmail.
sounds like the out going mail server is not correctly set up. Make sure there are no spelling errors or anything when checking the settings. They must be exact.
The out going mail part should be something like this. Pay particular attention the OUTGOING mail server. The other settings are correct already if they work to send mail.

Apparently the only thing we needed to do was check the box that said "my server needs authentication".

2). Then, click the Media Tab on the Page Info Windows
3). The media tab will have complete list of Images, CSS Files and Shockwave Flash files that were downloaded by the Firefox browser while loading the page of the website.
4). Scroll down the list and locate the .swf file.
5). Click the “Save As” button. Choose some folder on your hard drive and save the file.
For Internet Explorer user
1) Firstly, click Tools - Internet Options
2) In the General Tab, click the Settings button available in the Temporary Internet Files group.
3) Click View Files to open your Temporary Internet Files folder.
4) Click View - Details. Now click View - Arrange Icons By - Internet Address. Depending upon the webpage, there could one or more Flash files (Shockwave Flash Object) under the Internet Address.
5) Once you find the right flash file, right-click and choose Copy. Then paste the .swf file in any other folder,such as My Document.
Those methods above only function if your internet browserÂ’s cache file has not been cleared yet. Make sure that you did not close the internet browser before you save the flash file.
The alternative method that you can use is by using download manager such as Flashget and Internet Download Manager, which both you can get easily in the internet. For Flashget, use the ‘download all’ option, and for Internet Download Manager, use the Grabber tool. It’s faster and easier. Note: Some flash files are copyrighted. Check the license first before downloading any files to avoid copyright infringement. :wink:
Well, you can always low level format the hard drive. If you really want to follow government standards for erasing electronic data, you need to reformat plus run a utility that writes new data over the entire disk.

Case in point. An old coworker at my place, when he left, I was cleaning out his computer files and ran across, well, let's just say his extra curricular activities would have gotten him fired in corporate america. Judging from the amount of "stuff" on the hard drive, I don't know how the guy actually found time to work. I didn't have to look hard to find it, in fact I didn't need to, as I ran across it purely accidentally. I was surprised the guy would leave such compromising evidence on his computer.
However, if he had wanted to hide it, and there was any suspicions in the workplace about what he was up to all day, I'm confident I could have found it.

Check the box to the left of that text. In settings, you will find a menu. You can clear the browsing history, download history, saved from information, cache, cookies, saved passwords and / or authenticated sessions.
What you select there will be cleared each time you exit Firefox. This is one way that you can maintain your privacy on the Firefox browser.

it's probably a DNS server issue, at least that's what it sounds like. Why it would happen on both comcast and qwest surprises me, unless all your computers are setup to use the same DNS servers (i.e. setup manually instead of getting the info automagically).
I should start getting everyone to use microsoft Live's new remote support agent.. then I could fix your computer remotely.
I gotta get outta here (work). I'll do a little searching tonight to see if I can find the install link for remote desktop. It might come in handy for some of these tricky computer issues that come up.
it's fairly straightforward to change your DNS servers in windows, but I can try to walk ya through it, or find that remote desktop install page so I could do it myself, lol.
