I will miss my buddy on them cold winter nights when no one else wants to hear my drivel and seemingly useless banter on clues

bummer  will need to get my neighbor more into it or hang more with the crew - i like to fly under the radar tho - you know me
we could get a filmed police chase down - i willget my neighbor to chase the clowns in a high speed chase.....we coudl figure out ways to film it - could be fun
I used to work in the old building - those "look" right. I think the building may have been known as the Pioneer Press Building, but also housed the St. Paul Dispatch evening paper as a joint entity. I know the newspaper(s) underwent several name changes through the years. When my mother worked the switchboard there, they answered the phone based on which paper was being prepared at the time. Once the papers hit the streets, they switched over to the other name.
what I thought was odd though was they were advertising the building as being demolished.
Its still there. These were probably from before the company merged together. they are pretty cool just wrong about the building.
I always think of the little girl who was killed on that corner. She asked her dad to buy her some ice cream that was being sold on the corner -the dad said yes (my memory fails me- he coulda been buying a nespaper on the corner but I really think it was an icecream story). I think she was about 4 and roughly 1904-1906 if I remember the story. A 16 year old boy steared out of control and hit the girl on the corner. :frown:
I just always think of how back then cars were so new and he probably didn't need a license to drive.
soooo I'm looking at Eags avatar and wondering what the joke is with the second city (I get the 1st line but thought there was more to it)- maybe if over a few times looking at it that I'll catch on to the pronuncuation and find the joke...
never heard of Houghton before - so sounding out the joke - hoot on - who ton - whootin' - how ton
ok, maybe when I come back on line and stare at her avatar again I'll get it.... so I'm dinking around on another website and at the top this is what it reads:

  53° Scattered Clouds in Houghton
WoW! Its really a place- hahahaha
even crazier is I was on a Minnesota based news web-site and it had that at the top. Why would it have a city in Michigan over a city in Minnesota? weird.
Is that a BM Eags?
I havn't had one of those in a long time  :ooh: :goofy:
Houghton is a town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - sister city of Hancock. Home of Michigan Tech. Gateway to Copper Country. About 2 hours northwest of where I live. At times can feel like its not far from the end of the earth.
Only the BB editor claims to have the authority to bestow BMs. But I'd say, yeah, if you'd never heard of Houghton before and then came upon that website right after you saw my avatar, that's a BM!
also went to a garage sale up the street from us, that an asian family was doing... we ended up getting a nice set of plates for only a couple of bucks, and a nice stock pot too....
the family was also making home made egg rolls.... we hung out and talked to one of the guys for a little bit - where the family is from, etc - and he gave us a good deal on all the stuff.... even threw in a discount on the egg rolls, which were really good...
we also hit up an estate sale near here too.... got a couple of nice wine glasses....
gotta love eggrolls sold at a garage sale.. I wonder how long they keep those things around.. maybe hey're covered in engine grease and that's why they're so yummy!
we can arrange this I think at matty b's - maybe sell tickets to it

[ oh my god, what a fabulous room!
    Are all these your guitars?
This place is bigger than our apartment.
Uh, could I have a drink of water?
    Ya want some? huh?
Oh wow! look at this tub!
    Wanna take a bath?
    Whatre you watching?
    Hello?
    Are you feeling ok? ]
Day after day,
    Our love turns gray,
Like the skin on a dying man.
    And night after night,
    We pretend its all right,
    But I have grown older,
    And you have grown colder,
And nothing is very much fun, anymore.
    And I can feel,
One of all my turns coming on.
    I feel,
    Cold as a razor blade,
    Tight as a tourniquet,
    Dry as a funeral drum.
Run to the bedroom,
In the suitcase on the left,
    Youll find my favorite axe.
    Dont look so frightened,
This is just a passing phase,
    One of my bad days.
Would you like to watch tv?
    Or get between the sheets?
    Or contemplate a silent freeway?
Would you like something to eat?
Would you like to learn to fly? -- would ya?
Would you like to see me try?
    Ooohh. no!
Would you like to call the cops?
Do you think its time I stopped?
    Why are you running away?

Momma loves her baby
    And daddy loves you too.
And the sea may look warm to you babe
And the sky may look blue
    But ooooh Baby
    Ooooh baby blue
    Oooooh babe.
    If you should go skating
On the thin ice of modern life
Dragging behind you the silent reproach
    Of a million tear-stained eyes
Don't be surprised when a crack in the ice
    Appears under your feet.
You slip out of your depth and out of your mind
With your fear flowing out behind you
As you claw the thin ice.

Early one mornin' while makin' the rounds
I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down
I went right home and I went to bed
I stuck that lovin' .44 beneath my head
Got up next mornin' and I grabbed that gun
Took a shot of cocaine and away I run
Made a good run but I ran too slow
They overtook me down in Juarez, Mexico
Late in the hot joints takin' the pills
In walked the sheriff from Jericho Hill
He said Willy Lee your name is not Jack Brown
You're the dirty heck that shot your woman down
Said yes, oh yes my name is Willy Lee
If you've got the warrant just a-read it to me
Shot her down because she made me sore
I thought I was her daddy but she had five more
When I was arrested I was dressed in black
They put me on a train and they took me back
Had no friend for to go my bail
They slapped my dried up carcass in that county jail
Early next mornin' bout a half past nine
I spied the sheriff coming down the line
Ah, and he coughed as he cleared his throat
He said come on you dirty heck into that district court
Into the courtroom my trial began
Where I was handled by twelve honest men
Just before the jury started out
I saw the little judge commence to look about
In about five minutes in walked the man
Holding the verdict in his right hand
The verdict read murder in the first degree
I hollered Lawdy Lawdy, have a mercy on me
The judge he smiled as he picked up his pen
99 years in the Folsom pen
    99 years underneath that ground
I can't forget the day I shot that bad bitch down
Come on you've gotta listen unto me
Lay off that whiskey and let that cocaine be

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
    I focus on the pain
    The only thing that's real
    The needle tears a hold
    The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
    But I remember everything
    [Chorus:]
    What have I become
    My sweetest friend
    Everyone I know goes away
    In the end
And you could have it all
    My empire of dirt
    I will let you down
    I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
    Upon my liar's chair
    Full of broken thoughts
    I cannot repair
    Beneath the stains of time
    The feelings disappear
    You are someone else
    I am still right here
    [Chorus:]
    What have I become
    My ssweetest friend
    Everyone I know goes away
    In the end
And you could have it all
    My empire of dirt
    I will let you down
    I will make you hurt
    If I could start again
    A million miles away
    I would keep myself
    I would find a way
