Well, that sucks. I wonder why Terry could see them and you couldn't?

I've sent them his way to others and some people could see them and others couldn't.

I'm new to Flickr - used to use yahoo photos but they made us move to Flickr or some other choice I'd never heard of. Not sure if I understand how it all works yet.

Anyway, sorry CM!

You might have the pix set to private so only people you've put in your friends or family lists can see them.

I haven't put anyone in my friends or family list. I'll have to revisit the site and see if I can figure out how to do this correctly.

I just got back from checking my MySpace. I don't go in there much and don't know how some of the options really work. I apologize to those of you who may have received a bulletin from me showing a video of my wife. I meant to only post it in my profile and I must have clicked on something wrong when trying to send it from the video program directly to my MySpace page. (3 times!) Sorry about that.

Seen Bee Movie today with the girls. We all seemed to like it. They had a number of references for the adults which seemed like they were trying too hard sometimes but were funny nonetheless. The take on a bee's life was pretty good anyway. The animation at the beginning was the cool kind where you're flying all over the place like you're in the old Mystery Mine ride.

Watched Deck The Halls on PPV which was your run-of-the-mill Christmas comedy but was somewhat entertaining. Especially when you see how Danny Devito blows Clark Griswold out of the snowbank when it comes to lighting up your house with Christmas lights.

Then watched the 1988 version of The Blob. Not nearly as good as the first one but had somewhat better effects anyway.

Now I'm watching The Mangler Reborn - I might turn this off in a sec.

The acting is terrible

I wonder what FEAR.net will bring me to next?

I didnt get it in an email however I did see it earlier this morning and its very emotional - it shows how much you miss her and love her more than anything. ((hug))

I also watched Deck The Halls - it was ok

still want to see Fred Clause though

Watched the Blockbuster 1408 its a short story by Stephen King.

Ive always been disapointed in Stephen King movies/books except for MISERY ....and now 1408! A MUST SEE! Whitney is my horror flick child and she loved it. Come to think of it she could actually put horror film critic on her resume....hmmmmmm.

Whitney & I recommend Transformers - another must see. looooooong movie because a little too much action and destruction - but worth buying.

Ice - I've done jury duty once. It lasted three days. For some that were chosen to be on a jury the first day were done in one.

Inks has done jury duty many times. For some reason, he just gets lucky that way.

Usually employers will still pay you. Some deduct the amount of the jury duty pay from your salary, but others pay the full amount and let you keep the jury pay as well.

It can be an interesting experience...and you will have plenty of time to noodle clues if your group doesn't get picked for a jury.

I loved jury duty! But at first, I thought the timing couldn't be worse. I was in nursing school at the time, and if we missed more than one clinical in any semester, we were out of the program.

And I got summoned for Grand Jury duty, which lasts one year. I could just see this screwing up my graduation.

I called. They said, come anyway, odds are you will get dismissed the first day, and if you do get picked, odds are you will be an alternate, and if you are a primary, odds are the jury will only meet a few times during the year.

I got picked as a primary jury member, and we served a total of three days, all of which fell on days I didn't even have class.

And it was awesome. I learned so much about the judicial system, and got to sit in on two very interesting cases. But since Grand Jury proceedings are secret for life, I've never been able to tell anyone about the details. One of them was a really juicy story, too!

Ice, I hope you get in on some interesting cases, if you have to stick around for the whole summons period. The good thing is that jury proceedings are during the day. Unless the jury gets sequestered, you should be done well before clue time and available for nighttime hunting!

I've gotten called twice and never got called for one case. But then I never went more than one day each time. They let us go at the end of the first day and we called in the rest of the term to see if we were needed and I never was.

First time called, went in. That same day during selection, got through the whole process, and they called me. DOH!! Three weeks later I was done. US District Court (Federal deal) downtown St. Paul. Validated parking, so that was cool.

Yep, I was paid by my work, but only the difference between salary and jury duty pay.

You are right, 27-cents a mile didn't cut it.

It was a pretty interesting experience, that I was not supposed to talk about until it was all done.

I think by law, employers are supposed to give you that time off?
Wed, 11/21/2007 - 8:11 AM Permalink
Terry

Yup. They have to give you the time off, but they don't have to pay you for that time. Most, however, will pay the difference between your regular salary and the payment for jury duty, or, your regular salary and then you keep the jury duty payment.

When I had it and my wife (twice) we only had to do one or 2 days and were done the rest of the week. Tell your boss your gone all week, show up 2 days for jury duty and hunt the rest of the week.

Good deal if its the 1st week of the hunt. Bad if its the 2nd.
