somthing irking you? pissing you off? rant about it here.
Love4Vino
here here KC. I've actually decided that I'm not celebrating this year - I didn't do xmas cards, I'm not doing a tree or presents or anything.
It's too commercialized & I'm not playing into it. I'll tell the people I love, and show them with gifts, on some random day - when they don't expect it - not on a day that hallmark dictates.
Indeed. I've enjoyed it in the past, but people are making it way too difficult.
I remember as a kid, I looked forward to making/giving stuff to my extended family. Sure, it wasn't big or expensive things, but it all had meaning. Even as a kid, I thought more of others than myself...
Then, people got tired of getting gifts for others in the family. Frankly because they didn't want to spend the time and money on it. So we cut it to drawing someone's name. That lasted a year, then they didn't even want to do that.
Now I barely see any extended family at Christmas (since they're not doing gift exchanges, they want to be off doing their own things). Then my parents decided they didn't want to be with the rest of the family at all, so I get 2 places to go, and I don't even have a significant other.
So, I switched to getting things for my friends. Now they pull the same thing my family did, except they don't even keep me in the loop on it, so I have no idea what's going on.
So I'm trying to come up with good excuses to get myself out of any of it, gifts, meals, visits, you name it. The only thing I've done so far is my annual christmas card, and I'm being very selective of whom I send one to.
Maybe you'd get the Christmas spirit back by working at a shelter during the holidays? A place where they hand out donated toys to under privileged children or make up gift baskets for families.
It sounds as though you're kind of jaded in regard to family/friends and this might be just the thing for you.
My side of the family gave up on christmas too KC. I hated it at 1st. What we do is just get together at a resteraunt close to christmas and have dinner. No one has to entertain, no gifts, pay your own way. I like it now. But we don't have any little ones around on my side either. Pennys side we do all that stuff we used to do on my side. Works for us.
They totaled Inks' truck. Too much to fix all that was done to it while it was away from home.
I'm bummed. Inks is more than bummed. He loved his crazy truck.
Regarding Christmas - I love it. Some years it has been a bitter sweet affair, but those seem to be the ones that end up with some new tradition that make following years even more special.
KC - Getting involved in some sort of volunteering for those that have little or nothing is a great way to get that Christmas spirit.
took the truck in this morning .... 2 oil leaks, no reverse lights & hole in windshield fluid tube ...damages estimate? $1100!!! :frown:
no truck til tomorrow night. My sister came and got me this evening and we went out to Kohls but I don't know how I'm getting around tomorrow yet :frown:
dont have lights put in at a shop... they're easy to do yourself... or you can have carolyn and I come over.... we've had to do plenty of that in the past buncha months.
Sounds to me like you need to book a fab vacay somewhere for xmas for yourself - that is how I like to spend my holidays - traveling. Wish I could come up with some traveling funds right now - I'd be in NOLA, for xmas / new years - or NYC - or boston, or vegas again this year or san diego, or mexico, or hell. dallas.
My family wasn't big into xmas ever. I think it's still a big crock. I like the lights and that's about it.
My irritation of the day... 1st I'd like to state that I am a selfish brat...
My friends bday was tonight, she wanted to go downtown to this new little pub and drink.. So 4 or 5 of us, plus her boyfriend took her down there at 9. We were all home (to our respective homes) by 11:30 - it was sooooo dead and boring out.
now the irritation... I could have been at the roller derby with beer garden tonight, but cause it was Alisa's bday - Imissed it, which sucks cause they have a beer garden.
The plus side? they have tryouts for girls roller derby.. thinking about giving it a whirl.
So.. one of the sales guys calls me up. He's lost in Shakopee. I tell him how to get where he's going, then end the call. He calls back 15 minutes later, still lost. So, I'm trying to find him on the map, and he's getting upset with me. Jeeze, just buy a GPS and leave me alone. I'm not your personal navigator.
when he gets to your office you should tell him that he brought the wrong items and you didn't order those.....then tell him all about google street maps.

I don't think I'm so loyal anymore :barf: Dunn Bros is better anyway.

I want to beat someone!! and the guy at the return counter didn't know what to do when I went off on him!!!
why are people scared of me??? I am harmless!!! NOT!! but come on just learn your job before you go to work!!
any one have a ps2 and want to buy guitar hero 2 with out the guitar fo 5 bucks less then I paid for it it is only a week old and been in the ps3 once!! I cant eavn save a game!! because the ps3 dosnt work for it that way!!! ARGGGGGG
just don't get arrested when the cops show up...by pissing them off...normally they will help you once they realize your upsetting the rest of the customers behind you.
I usually do the whole big sad puppy eye - dumb girl, what do you mean there is a PS2? I thought the whole thing started with a PS3? can't you please please fix this?
oh and I'd wear spike heels, the lowest cut shirt I have, with the best push up bra (and maybe toss a little extra padding in the sides of it to push the girls in)
Then I'd find the youngest, cutest, non-married manager the store had and smile, flirt and walk out of there with exactly what I wanted.
I put up one hell of a stink and they said if I didnt leave they where going to call the cops and it is in Blaine so they mean bizness!!! they dont mess around!!
you would need to buy the guitar form any store like walmart witch I hate or best buy witch I am starting to hate!! more and more!! I think they are about 35 dollars or so?? I dont know!! I just need the money! back and they would return it because it was opened it makes on since for me to keep a game that dosnt work with my system that they said would!!! I think they need to train there employees better I use to work there and told them that when I worked there!!!
Seriously. I go in with some friends tonight, order a take out solo deep dish. We get to my friends place, and as I'm sitting down to eat, I find a Bic pen stuck underneath the crust. The idiots working there just tossed the pizza dough on top of a pen and chucked it in the oven.
KC, what's the problem exactly? First you complain that you're not getting christmas presents and now you're complaining about the generous gift of pen from Davanni's? 'Tis the season, Man!
friends who drive you crazy cause they can't get their lives together long enough to function for like an hour.
I hate living my life as hurry up and wait. hurry up and wait.
I left my knitting group a little early last night - to go get dinner with some friends but ONE of them, still wasn't out of the shower, and had to get dressed etc. etc. etc.
This happened a couple of days ago, butgetting an Email from Wells Fargo saying that I had to update info for my account to not be suspended... I don't even have an account with them, so I called WF and talked with some messed up guy, explained my situation, told him I had no account (which he verified) and told me to click on the link.
Then he transfered me to online customer service and I talked to the Supervisor there and she told me it was a phishing scam and no matter what I did, don't click on the link in the email. So I told her the guy I talked to told me to click on the link and she got pretty upset and told me to run virus scans and spyware scans and all sorts of stuff, and then asked me to forward the email to their phishing dept.
So now, I am waiting to get a virus, which hopefully I wont.. but

I don't want to be deeper in debt :frown:
I hope Inks can find something unique to buy next.
Speaking of new traditions... Our neice wants to start a new one. Who has the worst christmas sweater/shirt. Who ever wins gets a special prize.

He's just a space cadet.
And a tattle tale, in fact, all the coworkers left are, so I can't say diddly in the office anymore. And they wonder why I'm quiet.

Funny name. Virginia M. Boss
It wasn't a very great system to try pulling anyways, so now I get to try and find a way around it.
Sort of like if you look behind the register, they usually have the trivia of the day answer stuck to the register. Good tip when you're stumped.
behind the register... I did not know that -- thanks

Oh, the taste testing, for some new orange flavored drinks. Can't imagine how I almost missed that one.
