it is funny but If we really want to go there I don't suggest havening me do it!!! lol

I usually set us up for McG's but I have no prob heading over to Matty's. McG's people were a bit nicer last year compared to other years. It all comes down to the Wild schedule.

IMHO.....

PDG = McGov's

Pre-clue = Matty's

RHB = park (or if super cold/below zero = ???)

ps....Happy Winter

I agree with diggs

hhhhowever....... I was at the Hat Trick (5th & Robert) last night and I wouldn't mind dropping in there for a drink or 4 on one of the clue nights.

I wouldn't feel right ditching Matty Bs for clue nights... They seemed really cool and they even opened the place for us on Sunday last year.

I liked the rehash inside at the mason lodge. I would like to do that again if Allison Wonderland can set it up again. I see no need to be freezing outside.

I 3rd the diggin idea I like it out side if it is nice but cold I think We should have it in side!!

Allison said we could use his mason lodge for the rhb. I actually preferred having it indoors. It seemed more cohesive, much warmer and more fun to visit with folks.

McGovern's is the tradition for the PDG. The only reason I hesititate to change that is because folks that don't otherwise get online, know we'll be there that evening and just show up. I'd hate for them to miss the festivities.

is this the first???

1998 was the first rehash bash. The first predig gig was 1999.

Ice - that was one of our shoot the breeze-live gatherings.

Talked with MOD Eric tonight at McGoverns. I guess that all three rooms are booked up for the 19th. I seen the book. There's a 60th B-day party in the basement until 9 or later. He's gonna check but it looks like we won't have a choice but to move it this year.

I just received a call from Jean, McGoverns GM, and she said that the birthday party can't confirm that they will be out by 9. So it looks like we have no choice but to move the PDG somewhere else. Ideas? I know me2 is in talks with Hassan at Matty B's.

I kinda like Matty Bs or some place close to the PP. Instead of one or two of us going down to pick up the paper like usual, we could have a couple hundred of us show up for the first clue. They wouldn't have enough papers. HA!
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 12:39 PM Permalink
tim_the_hunter

Matty B's in a runaway.

They treated us really well last year.

Parking is easier.

There is a lot of room.

Right by the PP.

That would be awesome! I agree Matty Bs would be a good place for the Predig.

Matty B's?

I didn't notice that they were expensive...
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 5:35 PM Permalink
Clue Master

They are. But not much more than any other downtown pub.

It's nothing like Buggs. Hey, maybe we can do it at Buggs?!  :ooh: :goofy: :barf:

should go to OBB's
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 9:11 PM Permalink

both buggs and obbs are too small

however both are good places for afterclue fun

KITCH

75 person party room is 2 small?
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 9:21 PM Permalink
me2

is that in their basement? cool

not bad but out of downtown

I still think there will be people that show at MG's

personally if I went to MG's and noone was there I would go looking downtown for everyone. That has happened to me before too... I went walking to Wild Tymes, Great Waters, Matty B's and over to the Liffy. I ended up walking in circles but found who I was looking for at Wild Tymes. They just wern't there yet. I'm more persistant though than most, most woulda gave up and drove home dissapointed.

Obbs may be a good idea but I still like close to the pp.
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 9:28 PM Permalink
katsmeow

Wild Tymes is an idea too - easy to park over by PP and walk over to Wild.

They must have a room somewhere because the Royal Guard will be having their parties there this year i/o Great Waters.

katsmeow

Another idea - it's not dwntwn but close and depending on what time your looking for - Schroeders on Dale & Front is a possible... The Bar area is usually full, but there is an upstairs or the back restaurant area. This area is pretty empty by 7ish and if they knew it would be full with our group - they would probably work with us.
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 9:43 PM Permalink
me2

Great Waters bit cause they added tips to parties more than 8!

and they wouldn't seperate the check.

they wouldn't budge on this.
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 9:46 PM Permalink
barefootguy

I could go for Obbs or Matty B's. AS far as being close to the PP, on the first night I don't think it really matters since the first clue is printed in the early edition of the paper. If I recall correctly, not too many people went to the PP on the first clue last year.
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 11:51 PM Permalink
barefootguy

Yeah I agree they're jerks. Is Matty B's going to stay open on Sundays again this year so we don't have to deal with GW?
Sun, 01/06/2008 - 11:51 PM Permalink
me2

thanks for the reminder about Sunday - I'll check it out

we used to send one person over and if anyone else wanted to go they could(not like we would sit on them). Its always good to send a back up runner since one year our runner almost didnt come back because of a misprinted clue -hehe :eyeroll: whoops

had a fun idea for the 1st night - even if the clue comes out in the early edition.... if we are at MB's we can have a big group/all walk over for papers and freak out the pp - have a long line the first night - then head back to MB's

they don't even open up for the first clue...heck ...not even in the box outside...

at least they didn't 2 years ago..
Mon, 01/07/2008 - 6:38 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

I vote matty b's or obbs.

We better figure it out quick though to get the word out.

I think downtowns probly better.

Maybe get special pricing like last year.

How about the Liffey? It's a block away from McG's, same parking, etc, and people who don't hear can just walk to the right place.
Mon, 01/07/2008 - 9:44 AM Permalink
King Boreas aka Ian

I've never been there, but I guess I like Obb's because I'll be at Indian Mounds Park all day.

tim_the_hunter

Do they have a party room or something? I've only been there a few times and I don't remember.

Maybe we can get them to open up the roof!

mrmnmikey

They dont have any bottled beer. Only tap. My wife wont drink it.
Mon, 01/07/2008 - 10:33 AM Permalink
Redbear

Okay, a) I think they do have a party room, but they also have a bunch of little rooms, etc. that people can duck in/out of.

As for Penny...why won't she drink tap beer?

Clue Master

Just called The Liffey. They don't have anything near as big as we need. The biggest they have can accommodate 35 people and said the hotel has a banquet room that holds 60.

So. no go there.

I thought it was a good idea too.

Liffey

Notice the name of the room where Penny will never drink in
