I would like to prepose a addition to the codes to add that if you see me you have to give me a star sticker and buy me a beer! hehehe and if you find the medallion you have to give me 5 dollars!! lol now that I have made a complete jack hole out of myself!hehehe and made you all look in a folder no one has looked in forever!! sence we all need a reminder of the rules every now and agin! especially ME!!
My post here mrmnmikey, "NO MODERATION ALLOWED! **BEWARE OF CONTENT**" #2464, 21 Dec 2007 6:35 pm may not exactly fit the code of conduct, but its a good post to read.
• Language, Profanity and Vulgarity: While we understand the majority of members are grown adults, we do occasionally have young adults and children that visit the Cooler Crew discussion boards to communicate with others with like interests. Further, many people are offended by vulgar language. If you feel you must swear to get your point across, please consider censoring your language appropriately so as to not be overly offensive.
I know your intentions are pure Terry but you are doing more harm than good. Treating adults like children is much more offensive than a child seeing a naughty word posted on the internet.
sorry, tim, but we are then driving people away because it was a we that put this code in place. we all discussed it and came up with it. that's why there's nearly 650 posts here. in threads where kids don't read over their parents shoulders, i don't think anyone cares, and if they did and cited kids as a reason, i'd be standing right there with you. but we need to keep it clean where there is a good potential for kids to be present. does that mean that we as moderators are going to go through and edit every single post where someone says shit or bitchslap or whatever else? no. but sometimes people do need reminders.
and now, back to your regularly scheduled noodling.
The code of conduct says swearing is okay as long as it isn't overly offensive. It's my opinion that nothing said was overly offensive. I believe my opinion fits much more closely with the general consensus than whomever complained about "shit" and "bitchslap" being used in the context they were.
Its not that one person has sworn once in a great while (Kitch, a moderator, in early January when a friend passed away). I'm okay with that. Its actually validating under the cercumstances.
It's that it has become commonplace in everyday conversation lately where personally just gets tiring and really unneccesary. It's not really about the kids to me. At some point someone is going to just start posting constant swearing in their posting and wonder why we single them out after so many were able to post it once or twice. When together as a whole we do it than it becomes everyday commonplace.
Its NOT okay.
You are one of the moderators that is supposed to uphold keeping the Cooler safe overall and here you are breaking your own rule. you could have used ! of sh--
Tell you what, if I was a kid I doubt I would be reading through all of this thread! Are you kidding me?! Kids want to text their friends, watch TV, play video games...not slog through 300-1000 posts looking for tidbits of meaningful information.
Just think of the new people coming in and thinking 'oh, great, we can swear all we want around here'. No, I don't agree. This should not be commonplace and it sure isn't welcoming when it's posted in quantity by many. There have been a good dozen posts of recent. Not just Green. If we can throw the F'inheimers and sh--'s around all we want than look out...you open the flood gates for swearing and it will be taken advantage of. I refrain because I follow our code of conduct. If that rule can be broken whats to say others are okay to break to? If Im not gonna get kicked out for swearing anyhow...let the swearing begin!
:frown:

We appreciate the comment.
<------- Fighting back the urge to make a ton of posts in here to make other people worried that something hit the fan while they were away.

I was wondering why it was so HIGH!!! LOL :eyeroll:
That's cause of my illegal cable hookup...
I was hoping nobody would notice...
Can't we just agree that we are adults and sometimes bad words happen in real life?
Was anyone really "overly offended"?
To me censorship is the dirtiest word posted in the 2010 hunt thread. Let's maybe turn the sensitivity meter down a few notches.
We have always tried to be kid friendly - knowing that many kids read the hunt thread especially over their parents shoulder.
