The Grand on W. 7th gets a lot of carnival action. I went to a birthday party there a couple of years ago and the owner closed the bar to anyone not attending the party. Posted a private party sign on the door.

um - Ive been on the phone with Matty B's - I dont want to call and talk with them if we arnt gonna use them. They are calling me back- I think there may be a problem - but I am suprised that you guys are trying to find a place when I thought you guys wanted me to pin MB's down.

No, I think if Matty B's wants us we should go there. They treated us very well last year and will definitely be the place to be post PDG, so it would make sense. Parking is easy there and there is plenty of room.

they did treat us well but there is a slight problem- I may need to go above the new general manager - the nights arn't an issue - its the drink deals and they won't be able to open afterhours.

Joseph's Grill is another place we talked about last year. I know they already have their private room booked for that night though and they don't usually stay open too late though they might for a group. It is cheaper than Matty B's and even easier parking, but farther away from McGovern's. But if Matty B's falls through, it's another thing to consider.

Matty B's sounds like the place most want to go.

Sucks that McGovern's can't accommodate us - but if we're going to have to break with tradition, Matty B's is a good choice IMHO.

Obb's is nice in that they do have a basement area. (Had Friday night fish fry with DDY there a couple times.)

I think we should do mattys this year and maybe obbs the next few after that, depending on how mattys works out.

I just worry that Obbs is too far away from downtown. Pretty sad about McG's attitude the last few years tho. Screw them!

who know's maybe we will spend our days at Obb's and our nites at Mattys' during the hunt :smile:

I recall McGovern's treating the Cooler Crew shabbily a number of times in the early years, too. I am kind of glad the tradition is moving on to some other place. The fun and memories were created by the Cooler Crew and just happened to be at McG's - they really didn't do much to enhance that, if anything. So, let's go make fun and memories someplace that wants us!

I haven't been around much in recent years, so I can't speak about that, but the first five years, well, not real impressive. I even recall when we were not a huge group and we could not get waited on if our lives had depended on it.

Yeah they have pretty much always treated us badly.

I tried to find the print out for some Matty B discount cards and only came up with this post. Dont know if they still do this or not, but it dont hurt to try. I printed mine from this last year and brought it in and got a card at the bar.
