Clue #1 You've joined the hunt for the regal runt
To prove searching does pay
Don't dig a hole or knock down a pole
And the golf course is out of play

Last year Jake took home the cake
With a clue a bit off level
This year we'll rinse off all our prints
Lest this hunt go to the devil

Clue #2 The point of all this is so that you won't miss
Your big chance to grab all the cash
Now gather your guys and a gal who is wise
You'll have to do something quite rash

Clue #3 We've scanned the county to hide our bounty
And keep you on your toes
It may sound risible, but our puck's invisible
Although it might just stick to your nose.

Clue #4 How fun is the snow how far will we go
You really ought to go see
Get up for the mission and not just the wishin'
Get into the game-it's all free

Clue #5 There once was a clue that drove you-know-who
To threaten a heinous act
We'd use it again but we're afraid of his pen
My friend, that's an unfortunate fact

Clue #6 All ye who look should honor the book
As one who stood for hope
Much was built in the name of the kilt
Look sharp now and never mope

Clue #7 If you should go look high then low
One could see it from a bower
If it's your bent you might seek a tent
To protect in case of shower

Take note of the wood and do what you should
To extract the prize for yourself
Build a bridge to your dreams as high as they seem
Leave nothing behind on the shelf

Clue #8 Look at the buck to acquire good luck
In finding the grail this year
Link a jar,a line, a star lawyer divine
While crying in your beer

He won, then lost and the nation was tossed
Into strife that was far from civil
The point I'm making is yours for the taking
Believe me - not the message board drivel

Clue #9 This name brings tears, elation and cheers
And occasionally even outrages
It sits on walls and rides the halls
And fills a dozen pages

The hills are alive and you'll have arrived
Refrain from the very injurious
Be bold and be brave but your skin you must save
What's off-limits should frankly be obvious

Clue #10 Look for the sight you hope is just right
You're doubtful and you're torn
Make the rounds for what rhymes with grounds
And part of a rose with a horn

Through flames and flow this park where you'll go
Is the site of sacred relics
Stay away from these and the cliffs if you please
Or you'll be in a heckuva fix

Clue #11 Air and river sounds lead all to Mounds
Far from the graves take your entourage
Twixt Burns and Thorn, an icy pathway is born
Across Mounds from a gray house and tan garage

Hell no fury hath as those on the wrong path
Mounds and Warner form a woodsy perimeter
The path not official contains footprints beneficial
Some 300 trudges in - quest for a quitter

This trail you must follow goes down a narrow hollow
Under a fallen tree to an old rusted drum
From here you must search for a hillside path perch
Wherein lies the center of fun

If that was the only thing pointing to Keller I'd say Keller is a possibility. But to me lots of things point to Keller and they point to Keller in ways that make sense from a cluewriting perspective. So unless Horton hears another frickin who, my money is on Keller or Phalen.

I agree- Keller or Phalen. I just can't decide which. My best guess is that area North of Round Lake in Phalen-- but Spoon Lake is quite a distance from there.

Home. Now. Was too busy at work to even think about getting on. Had to get a ton o'stuff done since I won't be back until 2-4-08.

It just feels good to sit here and relax and know the next 9 or so days I can be in a different, wonderful world.

But I tell you, you guys are leaving me in the dust this year. I'm not seeing how - but for the spoon - you're getting to Keller. Well, and maybe Sophia and the guys. I need to start doing Hunts during the summer. You guys are like super good!

Oh, it feels ssssoooo good to be on vacation!

I'm going to head over by the park for a bit, then go to my parents in Maplewood and drop off their copy of the movie, and then I'll likely be at Matty B's later tonight.

I just looked up Ryan Park in the street Where you live book. It on Thomas and Avon. Just posting because someone mentioned the Regal Runt=little king=Ryan thing.
Tue, 01/22/2008 - 4:15 PM Permalink
Art Vandelay

This is a real stretch, but maybe they are saying that it would have been rash for Helen Keller to try archery? I think I need a nap.

Gotta go to dinner with a client, then I have no further obligations until the hunt is over. look out large field of snow here i come.

just me and mmmmm 50 acres.
Tue, 01/22/2008 - 4:15 PM Permalink
Andrea

I brought up the Ryan/Little King thing... I don't know if that is even what the cluewriter is refering to-- but if he/she is, I don't think it is for Ryan Park which is tiny. If they did hide it somewhere small, they would never give us the location this early. I think it might refer to Ryan Ave near Phalen and Keller though.

mrmnmikey

hmmm Ryan Ave (ryan=little king=regal runt) runs into Irvine park like someone else posted.

Its also where Dr Justus Ohage (of Harriet fame) lived. When he complained about the condition of Harriet the parks dept sent a crew to spruce up Irvine park so when he looked out his window he'd see what a nice job they are doing.

This regal runt = Ryan also fits harriet very well via Dr Ohage.

SEE PAGE 119 of the book "The Street Where You Live "and read it for your self.

heres a link to the page:
http://www.behindthename.com/name/ryan

RYAN

Gender: Masculine & Feminine

Usage: Irish, English

Pronounced: RIE-an [key]

From an Irish surname which was derived from Ó Riain meaning "descendent of Rian". The given name Rian probably means "little king" (from Irish rí "king" combined with a diminutive suffix).

I don't think it will be at Irving, but I hadn't caught the connection for Harriet. Interesting. I am still leaning towards Keller/Phalen but Harriet is still a contender.

At this point I may as well be looking at Nokomis...

You too Randy! Have been sicker than a regal runt today. Home from work. Probably will not be downtown tonight. Will see you tomorrow though.

I just keep finding more for the harriet argument. Too spookey.
Tue, 01/22/2008 - 4:40 PM Permalink
mrmnmikey

That would be rash to give clues to harriet and then on clue 11 send us to Irvine

I keep remembering waiting at Harriet for the caravan of cars - and then getting the word the hunt had switched to Como.

Caught up on slogging -- I *love* the noodle about gather your guys and gal who is wise being the street names. Keller is looking better and better. "Spoon" was the first thing that popped into my mind reading last night's clue for stick to your nose. Keller golf course is no where near the park part of the park and therefore "out of play".

I don't have access to these forums from work, so I only get whatever time I can steal in the evenings and then from about 4:30-5:15 am. Sux. One of these years I'm going to have a bunch of vacation days saved for the hunt  Pretty amazed that I have a couple half days left this year!

The Justus Ohage House is a Romanesque Revival design with Germanic features from 1889. The house was supposedly designed to resemble the childhood home of his wife Augusta from when she grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. Unfortunately, Augusta died at age 34 just a few weeks after the house was finished. Dr. Ohage raised the couple's five children and made several other accomplishments, such as establishing St. Paul's public health service, built public bathhouses at Harriet Island before donating the land to the city, and performed the first successful gall bladder operation in the United States in 1886

we're on dial-up that doesnt even work, most of the time at home... so thats why i've been pretty absent from the boards lately...

been out and about though...

me and steve/monkey/shaggy/whateveryouwannacallhim were at Harriet yesterday for a buncha hours...

went with Iceman and Monkey over to Phalen/Keller (the area where the archery range is, and the upper picnic area) last night.... we liked it... some stuff seems to fit...

I hiked back out there, for a couple of hours today, to have a look in the daylight....

I find myself more drawn towards Harriet, still...

dunno...

see you guys in a few hours.

Forgot to mention this earlier when folks were talking about Keller's lots plowed out....

They are always not plowed during the winter. To have them plowed is unusual to say the least.

Wicked Nick

The upper back lot/road by the playground on the back part of Keller, nearest the archery range didnt look plowed, when we were there last night/this morning....

It looked like it hadnt been touched since winter's been here.... as far as I know, that part is usually chained off.... has been for the last buncha years...

we used to sled there, back in the day, before they started putting up that orange, plastic, saftey fence thingy, down by 61...

I think the entrance to Beer-Can hill is usually chained off too... although I'm not really counting on them using that part of the park.....
