Medallion Hotline 651-228-5547
Clue #1 You've joined the hunt for the regal runt
To prove searching does pay
Don't dig a hole or knock down a pole
And the golf course is out of play
Last year Jake took home the cake
With a clue a bit off level
This year we'll rinse off all our prints
Lest this hunt go to the devil
Clue #2 The point of all this is so that you won't miss
Your big chance to grab all the cash
Now gather your guys and a gal who is wise
You'll have to do something quite rash
Clue #3 We've scanned the county to hide our bounty
And keep you on your toes
It may sound risible, but our puck's invisible
Although it might just stick to your nose.
Clue #4 How fun is the snow how far will we go
You really ought to go see
Get up for the mission and not just the wishin'
Get into the game-it's all free
Clue #5 There once was a clue that drove you-know-who
To threaten a heinous act
We'd use it again but we're afraid of his pen
My friend, that's an unfortunate fact
Clue #6 All ye who look should honor the book
As one who stood for hope
Much was built in the name of the kilt
Look sharp now and never mope
Clue #7 If you should go look high then low
One could see it from a bower
If it's your bent you might seek a tent
To protect in case of shower
Take note of the wood and do what you should
To extract the prize for yourself
Build a bridge to your dreams as high as they seem
Leave nothing behind on the shelf
Clue #8 Look at the buck to acquire good luck
In finding the grail this year
Link a jar,a line, a star lawyer divine
While crying in your beer
He won, then lost and the nation was tossed
Into strife that was far from civil
The point I'm making is yours for the taking
Believe me - not the message board drivel
Clue #9 This name brings tears, elation and cheers
And occasionally even outrages
It sits on walls and rides the halls
And fills a dozen pages
The hills are alive and you'll have arrived
Refrain from the very injurious
Be bold and be brave but your skin you must save
What's off-limits should frankly be obvious
Clue #10 Look for the sight you hope is just right
You're doubtful and you're torn
Make the rounds for what rhymes with grounds
And part of a rose with a horn
Through flames and flow this park where you'll go
Is the site of sacred relics
Stay away from these and the cliffs if you please
Or you'll be in a heckuva fix
Clue #11 Air and river sounds lead all to Mounds
Far from the graves take your entourage
Twixt Burns and Thorn, an icy pathway is born
Across Mounds from a gray house and tan garage
Hell no fury hath as those on the wrong path
Mounds and Warner form a woodsy perimeter
The path not official contains footprints beneficial
Some 300 trudges in - quest for a quitter
This trail you must follow goes down a narrow hollow
Under a fallen tree to an old rusted drum
From here you must search for a hillside path perch
Wherein lies the center of fun

wow..didn't know the cooler was that large...
oh and I like your tagline...
As a few of you know my car got hit...and now I've got a rental car while mine is in the shop.
Well last nite...I couldn't find the damn rental car in the parking lot.
Not a good nite to be wandering around looking at all the cars to figure out which was it. With no hat or gloves.
doesn't surprise me....
Anyway, I had a great time with all of you. I wish we would have all been in the right park earlier and my normal bitch about the clues applies, but I still love the Treasure Hunt.
I completely called that they might do that, and I don't think they "ruined the integrity" of anything. There is no rule that says they have to wait until clue 12 to give you a very small area. I personally liked this a lot better. Although there were a lot of people out there looking in that area, from what I can tell they were all medallion hunters and not any yahoo's just coming down for the last clue mad dash. At the bar beforehand I was commenting this was one of the last fake rules we still believed in, and now they have us guessing. I for one will be ready every clue but I bet if it gets to clue 9-10 next year you'll see a lot more people. Also, not intended as disrespect to anyone but as New Daddy said there weren't a lot of coolers and no camos near the spot it was found. Although the clue was very good, it OBBviously wasn't a piece of cake.
FWIW, I hung up with the conference call at 11:21 to run to the spot. I called again at 11:34 after about 5 minutes of digging to clarify the final part, I was the one saying "Lisa, let me put it this way... we are standing ON the medallion". That adrenaline rush was amazing even though all we found was an old bed spring and about 352 bottles.
just tell us good news, bad news, etc...
Fast forward. My phone freezes just as the clue comes out. I send Ken (DRex) into get the papers while I find Chris Digger so I can use his phone. I was not paying attention to what was going on around me. Apparently, the lady came out of the place across the street and snuck in line right behind me/Ken. People were swearing at her (I noticed none of this. Ken told me).
Then, when I was driving to the park, I remembered something from last year. I think this lady did the same thing then. Tammy or Kat, do you remember? She is probably in her 50's and pretends she is from out of town.
Anyway, something to think of for next year.
And a special thank you to DRex for his help getting the paper and for keeping me company in line.
You are wrong.
Clues 1-7 were vague and could be made to fit several parks but clue 8 gave you Battle Creek or IM. It was quite obvious that the answer was Stephen Douglas, and we kindly shared that with you only to be scoffed at. Dred Scott makes little to no sense in that context. You were a victim of making the clues fit your park.
Another interesting point to consider: IF the medallion HAD been at Kellogg it most likely would have been found somewhere between clue 2-5 maybe 6 at the very very latest. Without getting into the "they don't want it to be found quickly" line of fake logic, I could have just as easily said at that point the clues fit Keller better at that point. This is because those clues were vague enough to fit many locations, but specific enough to make many different people at many different parks think they were absolutely right. To me, that is extremely difficult to achieve as a CW, and I give them kudos for that aspect.
What ever day it was we were out at the BC overlook by Upper Afton I said it's going to be either here - waving off to the right at the Mounds section - or over here - waving off to the left at the BC section. And dang wouldn't you know I'd take the low road and end up in the wrong place? Wrong-way green.
Amazing where choices lead us. Dangnabit! Wish I could rerun the film and go back to that day and pick the northern part!
I was just positive The 'Crew had would find it when I went to bed. While many took the wrong road, they were still closer than thousands of others. It was ssssoooo fun reading about what was being said and where people were being directed to go. Almost as good as being there. Almost.
It has dawned on me many a lurker could have called in and am wondering if for next year we could do something to keep callers-in to just The 'Crew? We try ssssoooo hard. I'd hate for it to be found and then hear/read, "Yeah. I was lurking over at the Drooler Crew place and called in on their number they had posted." I do believe I mite go a titch ballistic should that happen.
He has been talking about that for years

It was up on a hillside trail (top of one of the hills I believe), on the east side of the lake, in case anyone wants to try for it earlier.
I really do need the cords...as I've been all over those woods in the summer lookin' for that darn sign..
driving me nuts...
I know Nick needed a jump last night so I grabbed my cables and was going to give him a jump when low and behold...either I don't have a battery or they hide it REALLY good....I ended up having to leave him waiting for someone else to come.

That call length sounds about right, too.
I'll bet if everyone checked in, we'd find it was Cooler Crew peeps.
Explanation: Pretty darn obscure: "Game" is a reference to Obbs Sports Bar across the street from the park. Really obscure: "Far" and "go" are a reference to Wells Fargo Place downtown, which is visible from Indian Mounds Park.
So they admit their clue sucks?
Wow. That's all I can say.
lol
