Here's a thought to make things interesting for next year: $5 to pick a park, or $25 to keep your park from the year before...

"huh" good or "huh" you're an idiot?

IMHO you can have Arlington/Arkwright for $6 bucks

a better format would be an silent auction

have it end like at 11pm or midnite

have a sheets for 30 parks one for rest of the field.

and bidding starts at $5 for everyone of them. increases of a buck..

winner gets the pool

maybe do it both ways...

Huh = good idea

I like Kitch's idea too!

So what a silent auction on the main parks everyone wants then a normal drawing for the rest?
Thu, 01/31/2008 - 9:45 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

Hows a silent auction gonna work. I only want one park and bid $5. Someone out bids me for that park. I get nothing? Nope, dont wanna play that. Plus do you (CM) want to go through 30 sheets at 11 pm to find the winner for every park?

Clue Master

Or just a regular written auction with the big parks having their own sheets and a separate sheet to hold the bids for the other parks people write down.

If I want a park, I would have to write it down and bid $5. Somebody else could outbid me or I could write down a different park and bid $5 to open it up. Kinda like E-bay. 11:00 close

I like this idea. If Jake totally thinks it's going to be in Phalen, he could bid $30 right off the bat. People would pay what they want for their park. I like Mounds as you all know and I'm sure I would have paid $20 for it this year. Next year, not so much

But what happens at 11:00 when someone gets out bid at the last second they don't get anything?
Thu, 01/31/2008 - 10:03 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

personally I dont like it. I dont want to spend more than $5 and I'd like a chance of a "good park" for that $5.

I dont want to bid on more than one and then be stuck with 3 because no one else bid on them either.

you missed an evil joe there CM

This idea has potential but really wasn't it set up as a just for fun thing not a ok I have to set aside a bunch of money if I want to get my park?
Thu, 01/31/2008 - 10:05 AM Permalink
Clue Master

Yeah. And that's what it'll probably end up being anyway.

We're just trying to keep the boards alive so you people don't leave us in the off-season.

I normally stick around until April then I fizzle away until later in the year...feel free to call me back to the boards at any time if you feel I've forgotten about you at any time... I set up a gmail account last year la.mommy I've got to see if I can remember how to get into there.

KITCH

thats why i said do it the old way still..

And do an auction as an EXTRA THING..

I would suggest doing an auction with

Como

Highland

H.F.

Linwood

Phalen

Battle Creek

Lilydale

Swede Hallow

Harriet

Maplewood Parks

Roseville Parks

Alice Park

The rest

these would be the sheets...

what would be interesting is if I saw the pot was large because CM and Jake liked Como and they bidded it high...I would want to big on Highland because they over bid and priced me in..

this could get very large.

I get it now. Yea I like that idea. If I had como for instance, I could sell it for more, or just keep it right? Wouldn't each person have to put it up for auction? If they wanted to keep it they could?

mrmnmikey

BTW- I'll call it now, Highland or Como next year

well put. That's where I'll be starting my search.

KITCH

oh...now that could be an interesting twist...

but I was saying we could do the picks like normal....

and have an SEPERATE PARK PICK AUCTION...an entirely 2nd pool.

How about a backgammon rule? If you want to keep your park next year, you pay double what you paid the year before. So eventually, it'd cost 80 bucks or so to win 300, potentially, then parks can move around to different people.

tim_the_hunter

We could add that to the auction rules, so it would be effective 2010. It wouldn't be fair to add it for this year because people didn't know about it when picking parks. Although I'd love to take Highland for $10!

I think we'll always need the standard board for those who just want the luck of the draw for $5.

I like all these ideas for the second board though. With some tweaking, this could turn out pretty interesting.

I like the idea of the regular draw, then people can auction off their tickets if they want to the highest bidder. That way the board winnings is still $150, but you may be able to sell your ticket for a nice profit even though it ends up not being that park. But if people want to pay for como, they can pay big bucks. One problem is that people there early may buy all the tickets for the auction later. Should be limited to one ticket till everyones had a chance to get one.

Or having 2 seperate things works too.

I just hope we have at least the regular way

I like the reg. way...face it...most of us are broke  and $5 bucks is just about right.

I like the new way for some serious spice and fun to see what happen's even if you don't get in on it.

The scary part would be a drunkman to say I want como for $250 and be stuck with it...
