"1) Talk, smile, help out, make friends and have fun - these are your neighbors and your community."
More fuel for the fire supporting my resolution. For the most part, these are neither my friends nor my community. I know no one that lives in St. Mary's Point or Nininger, which are near the extreme ends of my district.
I have a call in for my former senator, who also happens to be a friend. I want some answers and fair and equal representation, dang it! *shakes fist in air* :pbpt:
Scarlett Johansson came to Central Senior High to promote youth voting. Lexi (my teenager) wants to come to the Caucus with me tonight-pretty cool stuff.
just another site to find your caucus location. Remember, if you don't want to stay and participate for the whole caucus event (and of course I recommend participating) you can cast you ballot for president and leave:
Too much BS for me. I just want to check a box and not be bothered by some overzealous political geek later on. I hope they don't take any personal info other than my name.
You have to sign in and give your name and address in order to get a ballot. If you want to have a say in the senate race among Franken, Ciresi, and Pallmeyer, you'll most likely need to become a delegate to your senate district convention as there probably won't be competition for delegates at the precinct level.
Just got off the phone with my former senator and he agrees and said that both the Republicans and the Democrats were against the two SSP wards going to 57A. The boundaries are set by a Minnesota Supreme Court panel and both parties are working to fix it. We were pretty much throw away wards in the last redistricting. Nice.
"Registration for the caucus starts at 6:30 p.m. and you can vote on the Presidential Preference Ballot from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m., preference ballots will be tallied and certified by the caucus. The totals will be announced and reported to the Minnesota Secretary of State for a final caucus night tally."
The caucusing portion starts at 7:00, but the voting begins at 6:30 and goes until 8:00.
I just called the republican party of minnesota and they say 7pm. I asked why some think 6:30 and she said the Obama commercial said 6:30 for the democrats. If its 6:30 I dont know why the DFL website would say 7pm.
Registration starts at 6:30. Caucusing starts at 7. I *think* if you are just voting for president, at the DFL locations, you can register, vote, and leave.
I just called the DFL. They start at 6:30 like OT said. I asked why it says 7 at the top of the page and she said she has taken calls on that all day and don't know why its wrong on the top of the page where it says 7.
I got it here. Interestingly enough, at the same site you did. Scroll down to the heading, "When are Precinct Caucuses?". The second paragraph is what I posted. It is confusing, but the voting and the caucus are two different events. You break up into groups to caucus and to vote on proposals and choose district chairs, etc. The vote is an in and out event if you chose to do that. And that vote occurs from 6:30 until 8:00.
I'm excited to go for the first time in a long time. I've never missed a vote in any primary or regular election, but often times I've just gone through the motions and haven't been too enthused. I'm already bathed and dressed and ready to go!
We attempted to caucus. Unfortunately, the parking was non-existent by the time we got there. The freeway and the streets leading to the caucus site were plugged. People trying to double park or park illegally, police trying to direct traffic. It was nuts. Finally got out of the traffic mess and headed home.
It was the BIGGEST WAST OF TIME THATS 1HR Of MY LIFE I WILL NEVER GET BACK!!!!!
there was a line off cars 4 miles long and I didn't get to do the biggest reason I wanted to do the biggest reason I wanted to get out for?? go figer and not to mention the GAS!!! that I don't have to do it?? how the hell it was a JOKE!!

then I walk in to the room where I was sopse to be and there has only been 45 people a head of me and about ten behind me that where in the same line as ME!!
there was no on in there telling you where to go or anything the School was having Sports stuff going on that made them Happy!! that there was 6 million people in there SCHOOL!!

OK I feel better now!!!
Oh wait one more thing The way they take them from you and just stuff them in a big white envelope that they couldn't find half the TIME!!
I thought the envelope for the ballots was pretty lame too. The thing just sat there on the table wide open.
A lot of people from SSP came in and found out they had to go to Simley to caucus. It's their own fault for not checking their caucus site, but this is the first time in my memory that District 39 hasn't caucused at the high school. I imagine some of them didn't bother going to IGH.
Nice thing for me, I was able to walk to my caucus.
My caucus was pretty interesting. One guy put up an amendment thing and I spoke up against it. We voted and it lost.
Another guy put one in and someone else objected to it. I stood up and suported the 1st guy a few times. It went round and round for a while. Then we voted and it passed.
I got off at 76 and found a spot to park about 10 blocks away from simley...
katie was with me....went home.....she said lets go to my school..you can vote there  ...smart girl....
well..drove to the "central square" to see the republicans..and well...they had about 60 people and easy to get in...they said they needed about 16 delegates per prec. so I bolted
After spending darn near an hour in a jam of traffic, and then not finding anywhere to park that was legal - and with all the cops around - didn't want a ticket or a tow....I'm bushed.
Traffic was incredible - all over the news. Coming back from work there was a line of cars trying to exit off I-94 at Highway 95 (Stillwater Caucus) must've been darn near three miles long!
No thanks to me as I had the same problem as everyone else. Simley was a fricken zoo. It was super crazy. Cops everywhere. Media milling about. Our district was way way too big for this thing. I spent 20 minutes in my car sitting in the drive lane in the school parking lot. I finally slithered by an area where you could see inside and the line was a mile long. Plus the cafeteria was packed with people filling out a form. The flow of traffic finally pushed me back out to the main road. I decided right then that there wasn't that big of a difference between Bill's babe and Borat and went home. It was right at 8:00 anyway and I didn't know if they kept the polls open until the line dwindled down or not.
It just wasn't worth it. They definitely didn't think there would be this kind of interest in a caucus. The general vote is much better than what was going on tonight. What a joke. We Minnesotans' sure like to vote. I vote we change the voting system. Who's with me. I'll represent the Cooler Party.
I just seen that they would have kept the polls opened for people in line or trying to park at 8:00. Hillary would have gotten the nod if we knew that.

Last I checked Bush wasn't running.
