Santa Dave Memories

I thought it would be nice to have a spot for us to share our memories of Dave, just like we did with Kirk, and we can get them passed along to his family.

The Bob I knew was Hogetti's Bob, he was a delivery driver as was Dave with Hogetti's for quite a while... they were both good friends with my uncle Scott and would go puck hunting together every so often. It's funny that "Woodsman Bob" in the picture that's posted looks so much like "Hogetti's Bob" right down to the hat and hair.

Hogetti's Bob always drove around a cargo van and I know he used to live in the northern suburbs, don't know what happened to him in the last 5 years though. I know my uncle lost contact with him also.

You took the picture! lol it's post #12 in this thread.

I don't know why I put "hat," I meant to say "glasses"... I blame it on trying to catch up on posts in here while multitasking on the phones here at work.

Too funny! I did a search on "Woodsman Bob" but guess I didn't get back far enough. I don't think its the same person you are thinking of either. I don't believe Santa Dave and Woodsman Bob knew each other prior to 1999.

There is another recent pic on one of these threads that looks like the Woodsman Bob in that pic, but its not him. Also a guy in NTFCF who made me do a double take.

First time I met Santa Dave was in White Bear, can't remember the name of the place...was also the first time I met any of the Crew. He came in his santa suit after doing a gig.

One summer he was visiting us here in NW WIsconsin, and Dave and I drove in to Spooner for some shopping. We were wandering down the main street when we heard a steam engine whistle!! We headed for the Spooner train ride, and sure enough, they were running a steam engine that day. We bought our tickets and boarded, and Dave also bought some chances for a drawing to ride in the engine on the way home. He gave me half of his tickets, and we both won!! 2 out of 2.It was really fun and a great memory of Dave.

That is my all time fav pic of DDY. It is burned into my brain. The entire composition is perfect. And for Hunters, and those that knew DDY well, he was always cheerfully plugging away until the very end. It also epitomises The 'Crew and studying clues late at night by any light they can, especially That Final Clue. In my mind, the best Kodak moment re The Hunt - it speaks volumes on many different levels. Prolly gotta be in the know, as we are, to 'get it.' But if a Hunter, that is a prized photo opp. Fabulous picture.

So.

Here we are today.

Back in the day I did not think Hanson's 'roast' l was a kiss off, but I do today. Where is DDY's bench at the GMNGTG? What happened to the fund raiser?

Now, I miss a lot. I have problems with memory due to trauma and fear. So I may have missed something and need to be caught up.

And this may not be the best time to reserect this with other issues the 'Crew will have on their plates in the upcoming days, but I would not like it forgotten. Maybe we could address the bench at TGMNGTG in future days. I would like to see it happen. If possible.
