I will be at McGoverns Jan. 20th to see all my fellow hunters. I will drink lots 'cause I won't be looking that night. It's going to be a long hunt this year with all that snow on the ground.
Hello everybody! Just thought I would check in 20 days early! Alisson, good to see in your previous post that you met someone while treasure hunting. I always use the hunt as a way to weed out incompatible partners--if she doesn't at least help decipher clues indoors (I gave up on actual digging a while ago...), then it's just not going to work. Hmmm, only three weeks to find a date for digging....
See you all in the snow. By the way, I live only blocks from the Pioneer Press and have a cell phone--I would volunteer to leak a clue or two, if someone is willing to answer and transcribe....
Hi there Treasure Folk, good to see some of you back on here....I am getting all revved up...Gonna go out tommorow and get the buttons, and in the spirit of things, I threw out my right shoulder last night shoveling this nasty wet slop from my driveway...so with my shovel injury of the year out of the way, I should be able to dig like nuts when the digging actually counts. Take care all!
BTW- Allison...lets pray that the snow doesnt melt, lets have a nice pile of the white stuff on the ground this year and cold temperatures to make sure the ice sculptures and whatnot stay around this time. Its the winter carnival, its supposed to be wintery and I for one have really missed a good old fashioned Minnesota winter in these last couple El Nino years.
Hey ShovelMaster, how was NYC? I have yet to dig out my gear but I have been strengthening my arms in the weight room (since I still can't work out my left leg too heavily cause that dang injury - pt is helping but I'm still a couple weeks away from being 100%). I also will have an air pump ready for this year (in case we need to reinflate a basketball or two). I got my four pack of buttons over at the Wall SA Wednesday after bowling and am going to send in our registrations today.
Well, it is that time of year again. Just making sure all laptop and wireless connections are working properly, it'll be so much more convenient getting the clue right at the park. Just wanted to check in and say hi to all. See you in the near future.
Hey everyone, I just got email today saying some people are going to be making a documentary of the tresure hunt this year and they want some of us to star in it! Go to my Yahoo club to see the (mostly) complete letter. How cool is that?
Hey H, NYC was good....lots of fun, but happy to be back and ready to hunt. The shovel arm has healed up well since last post and I am ready to roll.....Mike C joining the hunt team this year...Keeping a close eye on you Allison, I dont know if you are heir to the Pioneer Press empire or what, but you seem to have your finger on the pulse of the medallions location.
Allison Wonderland -- I'd like to use your top ten training tips for coolercrew.com. Can I? Post here or e-mail me with an answer.
I got the documentary message, too. I think we should be as supportive as possible. It sounds like a good project at the right time. There should be plenty of material for a documentary, and I think a lot of people outside of MN would be entertained by such a film. Digging in the snow at a public park for hours and hours is going to look weird to a lot of people (heck, it's weird to me). But our kind of passion is also inspiring. If you want to see an excellent documentary about weird, inspiring passion, I recommend "American Movie."
Sure, you can use whatever you like as long as you just credit it. The documentary people said they wanted to use my Hamlet parody in their movie. Does this mean I can say I've been published now? hehe
It's been a long time since I've been on the board. Checked in this summer a few times but not a steady conversation. Just read in the Sunday's paper that the first clue is coming up and is again worth $10,000. I'm pretty sure they'll keep it at $10,000 for now on, but will there be a winner who's from this board and who actually REGISTERED THE BUTTON!!! Time will tell. Can't wait till it begins and I hope it lasts until the last clue. So much more fun when it's not over as soon as it begins. The documentary would only be truly understood by those who participate and feel the pain of hunting and "almost" finding it but allowing someone else to find it in the place where you've been digging for the past 4 days. Ouch! Will check in again soon. Take care.
I seem to recall garage logic leading to the notion that the Medallion was hidden in Midway Stadium last year. I think I'll stick with the tried and true methods of voodoo. hehe
I think we all agree that what we want more than anything this year are well written clues, though they do make great fire starters. I must say that I went through parks too Allison, but something tells me that Con way threw everyone off so much, they'll go re center again. Langford is only a mile as the crow flies from Newel so it is doubtful, but if the clue writer from last year is doing the hiding, I'll see ay there on the 21st to start digging. Well, I'll check in with ya'll later.
And for an early thought about where it might be hidden - Harriet Island is certainly a posibility - and so is Phalen or Mounds Parks in my way of thinking. But as always, I'm keeping an open mind until the clues send us scrambling.
Its only been 5 years since Harriet and they've never hidden it in the same park less than 6 years apart, so I'm going to shy away from Harriet Island this year unless there's compelling evidence not to. As for Phalen and Mounds, there's just the usual arguments against them. Still Mounds would be #9 on my list and Phalen would be #10.
You know what? Any St.paul park is possible! I like big parks because it spreads the crowd out and makes you line ALL the clues up in the given park. CAM CURE 2001 "...ca... candig it..."
Allison--I have been peering over Kellogg Nightly--Watching and waiting...It's so cool to have people picking parks, since we don't even have the traditionally vague clue #1...
Just popping in to see whats happening tonight. Funny how slow and quiet it is right now, and how mad and insane it is going to be in just a couple of short weeks. Just some worthless rambling.
You think its at Mounds MacGroveMan? Personally, I look at it this way. Maybe two or three people at most know where the medallion is going to be hidden and thus the decision is entirely up to them. Now should anything go wrong and some sort of trouble results from people doing something with the mounds, then pretty much ALL the responsibility is going to fall on those few people as they were the only ones who could have put it somewhere else. Now if it were me writing the clues and I had all these different parks to choose from, when looking at Mounds as a possibility I personally would say, "Hmmmmmmm, maybe not."
It was at Phalen LAST year and *they* moved it. I've proof.
GREG!!!! BEE!!!! Gods, it's been a long time!
I, too, got the documentary thingy. I don't know who these poor, sorry folks are that have nuttin' better to do than film us, but GODS LOVE THEM!!! They're my ticket to a full 12-days (unless we have a repeat o'last year and then I'm storming Mom Press and giving her a HUGE piece o'my mind - what little I have left...) of HUNTING!!!! Gods know I gotta be available at all times fur the film Crew!!!
I second that 7:00 PM's way too early... I can't sit still that long waiting for The Clue!!!! It's agony, I tell you!!! AGONY!!!
How many hours left Allison?????????
HEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!! I love it!!! A legit xcuse to HUNT!!! Can't beat THAT with a stick!!!
Ter, HI!!!!! How's you and Inks? You got Eags' new email address?
I wonder if it'll be in muffs again? The Hunt last year was REALLY "muffed"...
Eags email hasn't changed - she should still be able to get mail at the address you have for her.
The thought behind the 7 o'clock starting time was for those that could get there for only part of the evening - and for some that's earlier rather than later. I don't know if I could stand to wait much longer than that. It's an exciting night!
LOL!!! Do you *really* want to know? It's been hard this past month... Hattie-cat, my first Aby, has severe kidney damage and I almost lost her... She will never be the spring chicken she was, but I needn't put her down yet. She's REALLY doing well.
I'm just glad the effin' holidays are over. Now it's on to The Med Hunt, my burfday, and The Two BockFest Hunts! Life don't get much better!
Thanks for the address!
Got a flu shot and they hit my ulnar nerve... May be perm nerve damage, don't know yet. BUT I CAN STILL DIG, BY GODS!!!
Job goes well. I've died and gone to heaven there.
And... I *may* actually break down and head north... If you can't beat'um, join'um!!! :D
We have a compaq up north - and I like it. I think you'll be happy with that.
Inks has dinner ready here. Then it's off to Target. Need some Target kinda stuff - and need to look for another set of mittens. I lost one of my good ones.
I will be at McGoverns Jan. 20th to see all my fellow hunters. I will drink lots 'cause I won't be looking that night. It's going to be a long hunt this year with all that snow on the ground.
Ah, warm temperatures! Melt you dang snow! Melt I say!
Just ended the longest winter carnival button search in history! (Snatched up the last button at the SA on Century Ave. in Maplewood!!!)

Hey everybody! Jakey!!! It's been to long how are you? What time are you gonna be at Mcgovern's on the 20th? THX and I would love to see you!
Hey Rush! I miss running into you in elevators!:)
Has anyone called McGoverns yet??? Was it 7:00?
Hello y'all - good luck with the hunt. I'll check back in later.
Oh....by the way.... let me be the first one in 2001 to officially say that the medallion is at NEWELL PARK this year !!!!!!!....(again)
>Hey Rush! I miss running into you in elevators!:)
No need for 'vators anymore, my parking spot & apartment are both on level one. I moved into one of the lofts in october!
Well, it is that time of year again. Just making sure all laptop and wireless connections are working properly, it'll be so much more convenient getting the clue right at the park. Just wanted to check in and say hi to all. See you in the near future.

After doing a careful study, I'm concluding it will be in one of the following 8 parks listed in order of liklihood:
Hidden Falls, Capitol Mall, Battle Creek, Highland, Kellogg, Irvine, Marydale, Langford

Terry, no need to reply to my button message. I got the answer from within these posts. Hadn't been back to check in a bit.

the garage logic think tank is assembling and gathering in the garage we will be ready for the hunt

Too late Greg, I already answered that button question.
We have reservations for the 20th now. See my second line for details. Come whenever you can make it!

I don't buy those usual arguments against Mounds and Phalen anyway...and both could be due to hide the treasure this year.
May be the Frog Pond at Como? heeeeeheeeeee.....
You know what? Any St.paul park is possible! I like big parks because it spreads the crowd out and makes you line ALL the clues up in the given park. CAM CURE 2001 "...ca... candig it..."
I hope he hides it in a coney from George at the Gopher Bar.
Bee! I thought I saw someone by the frog pond a couple days ago - was that you????
