taking 20 minutes to find a parking spot in downtown thismorning because its a holiday and everyone comes in to work early on holidays for the free parking :frown:
The mere thought of Tim Pawlenty as a Vice President.
Another thing I noticed - at Cub the other day - TCF Bank is giving away mini 7" TV's with a new account - how many of you want to bet the tuner is ANALOG and will be useless after next February?
Federal law mandates that February 17, 2009 is the last day of full-power analog television broadcasting. Government agencies, industry, public interest groups, and other interested organizations are working hard to make sure that the deadline is met and that everyone is prepared for the end of full-power analog television broadcasting.
I will be watching all my shows right here on my computer after that day!!! I refuse to have the gov. tell me one more way to live MY LIFE!!! I am so sick of that crap!! lets make all the waste of the tvs that are out dated Evan MORE!!!!
Cable Tuners and Satellite Tuners are supposed to already have the Digital-To-Analog Translator, so you shouldn't have to change your set.
Any TV over 32" was supposed to be sold with a digital-ready tuner as of January 2006. Our big 32" boob tube was purchased in November of 2005 with - guess what - no digital!
I applied for the $40 gov't "coupon" on New Year's Day on the internet - haven't heard a thing about it since. I've been looking, but as far as I can tell NONE of the major TV stores are selling the $50-$80 translator box yet. I have a feeling they won't show up in any real numbers until AFTER next Christmas, even thought they are required to start selling them as of Feb. 1st.
Attached a set of rabbit ears on the new TV and got 8-10 more channels than before. HD reception is supposedly better over-the-air. One is a 24 hour weather channel, so I have no need for cable.
Now.......if that lame Qwest would get DSL service to all of Ramsey County.
What's worse is that Qwest won't put in DSL for them, even though there is a 'trunk' junction box that connects Mankato to Minneapolis about a block away from their house. They barely get any cell phone service, because they are in a valley and the sight lines to the nearest towers are miserable.
Anyone know where I can get a signal box yet? I'm gonna try Radio Shack again this afternoon...
P.S. - I went to the Gov't Coupon site to re-apply for a coupon. It said I couldn't because I already applied. My original Case Number on New Years Day was in the 5700s - now the case numbers are up to 3.5 Million! They said coupons will be going out Late February in a 'staggered' format - what EXACTLY that means I dunno. I guess I'll be getting a coupon via 'snail mail' sometime between now and 2036!
trying to figger out who I am going to tell my boss I got pulled over Friday!! and got a ticket! and almost got a dwi! to go with my no prof. of insurance!! this is not good!! and trying to figer out where I am going to live and a new job!!

They live about 60 miles outside the metro, and the digital signal is not designed to go that far.
