The same big offseason question that has loomed over the Green Bay Packers for five years finally has a different answer. Quarterback Brett Favre will retire, several media outlets reported Tuesday, after weeks of speculation that he would return for his 18th NFL season.

Favre's brother, Scott, told the Biloxi, Miss. Sun Herald that the quarterback will retire. The newspaper also reported that Favre has told Packers coach Mike McCarthy that he won't play next season.

I am all for playing Vancouver or Colorado in the playoffs... although Calgary would be most likely... We only need 1 point as it sits right now to guarantee a home ice advantage, and it is most definitely possible that we won't even need that.

I'm not up on how the NHL playoffs work, do the Wild get home ice automatically if they win their division?
Tue, 04/01/2008 - 12:26 PM Permalink

yes, for the first round of playoffs only. After that, I am lost too.

Tickets go on sale Saturday around 9 am or so... Only 2000 available to public per game. Ticket prices appear to be only $10 more than regular season ticket prices.

According to a Los Angeles Times report, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback, who announced his retirement last month, is contemplating a comeback with another team.

Citing NFL sources, the Times reported Thursday that Favre has been quietly talking with teams about their interest in trading for the three-time NFL Most Valuable Player.

On March 4, Favre, who played with the Packers for 16 seasons, announced his retirement during an emotional press conference at Lambeau Field.

However, Favre, 38, has yet to give written notice of his retirement to the league or players’ union.

Favre’s agent, James “Bus” Cook, told the Times he was not aware of his client’s possible interest in resuming his career.

“That’s news to me,” Cook said. “I don’t think it has anything to do with anything. He’s retired, period, point blank.”

During his press conference, Favre denied he retired because the Packers did not make a more aggressive attempt to sign wide receiver Randy Moss.

However, Favre’s decision came one day after the New England Patriots re-signed Moss to a three-year contract worth $27 million.

I would LOVE to go to a game, but I thought $50 a seat of Blue Man Group was a bit steep.

Tell you what - I got time to stand in line early Saturday; who wants to close out Matty B's Friday night and stumble over to the ticket line at XL?

Favre would be ousted for not retiring and joining another team. I don't think thats smart and the story must be a late April Fools joke.

So much for that. I tried getting one ticket anywhere in the stadium for all 4 games and they're now totally sold out. 4 full stadiums in 15 minutes!

    Granted they did have pre-sale.

well I had 2 seats for the 1st game in section c25 but it didnt let me buy them

same thing happened again for game 4 - section 124 row 5!! wouldnt let me buy them!!

finally it let me get seats for game 4, but game 4!

don't they havefta win the first 3 first or is the best of 7?

will game 4 even take place?
    Sat, 04/05/2008 - 7:32 AM Permalink
    Clue Master

Game 3 should have been the tickets you were hunting for in the first place. The only way a game 4 wouldn't take place is if they won their first 4 games with three of them being at home. Game 4 is a good one as well.

The National Hockey League uses this format for its league championships and Stanley Cup playoffs, but uses the "2-2-1-1-1" format, alternating the first two games at the home-ice team's home rink, the next two at the second team, and then alternating venues for the fifth, sixth and seventh games (if necessary)
