Mr. Med Hunter... You GOTTA come! Try, try, TRY to be there! Terry comes dressed as a palm reader and looks into her crystal ball to figure out where The Med's gonna be hidden! Just joking! But you'd think that's what she did last year!

Ter, you know how to get a hold of Girl/Cake and Pfool???? Should we just go to Newell and yell for them?

And Cheryl and Reed? Do you still have their address?

Anyone talk to Gram'ma Red and her clan?

Green - I've had a major netscape crash thing happen here and don't have as many emails as I used to...but I have some. I think I still have Cheryl's. Does anyone have Hollywood's?

I don't have Pfools and Girls anymore.

Boogers. I know the agnst of crashes! Well, push coming to shove, we'll figure out something. We always have!

I've not Hollywood's... I see that EH is helping with the Website and I've asked Greg to let her know about all the doin's, if she doesn't know already being so tied in.

I gotta fro to Sue's for another drip bag for Hattie. I'll BE BOCK!!!

Hugs, me

SueBee, you'll be bock to hunt. You can take the girl away from The Hunt, but you can't take The Hunt away from the girl! Plan an early 2002 wedding and honeymoon hunting! :D

Oh boy, I've caught slogging fever again. Must...read...every...post. I registered my button today, so I am SO ready. I mentioned before that the medallion will be downtown. If not, it will be in the SW corner of the city. Cherokee (West Side), Conway (East Side), Newell (NW), so if they are making any attempt to spread it around (and I know they don't have to, but I prefer it), Highland and Hidden Falls look attractive. Oh, now I have to due time regression plots on the map to see how much they move it around (I have only been at this 6 years)....Later

BRING IT ON!! I've slogged through the posts for the first time since February. I see the nahf people have been touching base with the Crew's finest .. Good to see!! Let's hope it lasts more than a week, so they can capture the real flavor of the obsession.

Shall we start a pool as to where it will be this year combined with what day it will be found? We would collect at the PreHash and pay the winner the evening I find it. Don't forget, I have THE treasure map.

Guide out.

I got up this AM and my first thought - REALLY - was "This week it starts!" No more "in two weeks," "in ten days"!!! Just one week from today the insanity begins! Well... continues.

Downtown, glad you mentioned about regestering the buttons. I've just kind'a been looking at mine, wondering which to wear when, which will go best with... GREEN! And haven't even opened them. Gotta gett'um registered - TODAY! You need to get with Jake, Dave! While he spews info, you can be maping it. Nice to know we've a cartographer on the team!

Downtown, what about SE? Think could be that? There's a Truman Drive/Road/Convayence/Whatever near Mounds and Battle Creek. Truman was president 50 years ago... Ittiz true, man. Ittiz true.

Like you, I think there's something to area. I had a feeling last year it would be in the vicinity it was, but I was a few miles too east in Phalen...

Yes! Green trying to have the park nailed one week before the first clue even comes out! I think more Battle Creek than Mounds; I'm in WW's camp. I just can't see them hiding The Med there for fear too much damage to the mounds.

Terry

Good Morning!

Green - you always like the idea of those east side parks - Phalen, Battle Creek...LOL!!

Phalen is long overdue - but my early prediction remains Mounds. Just seems that there has been a trial period over the last few years when early clues had many digging in that park. One year - was that the year of Cherokee? - many, many people at Mounds without incident to the burial mounds.

But then - time will tell! We'll all meet up somewhere eventually.

Good marning, Ter! You are so logical. I just don't see how you do it. You make good points.

Yup, was Chair-O-Key. But early digging's one thing, frenzied digging's another. Sometimes I wish I could get in the Clue Writer(s) head and *know* these things. Sometimes, even when frustrated and totally clueless (that's most o'the time!) I'm glad I can't because it would take the fun outta it. But I get ssssooo frustrated cuz I just can't get it!

I got the neatest game fur myself for Christmas, "The Riddle of The Sphinx." Ittiz a putter game, a murder/mystery kind'a thing. And like even with things staring me in the face - tho one thing you gotta figure out DOES involve numbers and a combination lock and the counter on a tape recorder!!! - I just can't get them. I thought it would be good practice, you know? And I try and do what Greg says and not make it too hard and to quit reading so much into *it* [whatever puzzle/clue I'm working on], and I STILL can't get it! I can figure out murder mysteries in books... Why can't I figure out The Hunt clues and putter game mysteries?

I beginning to think it's not a learned thing: Like you're good at it or you're not. I keep trying to learn it, practice what I'm taught from the old hands at this Hunt, and it's still just MUD. Ittiz ssssooo frustrating! I want to learn it and I don't think I can!

Damn Hunt. Drives me outta my mind!!!!!!

That is the point though...the year at Cherokee, there were folks digging at Mounds - lots of folks - till darn near the end. I think it was a good trial - and there have been other times since. No damage + no incidents = no issue.

I do believe folks either grasp number things or don't. You can learn basic math by memorizing tables and such - but the understanding of how numbers interrelate is something you're either able to do or not...like an inborn instinct.

Yes Ter, the year of cherokee was when we were all at Mounds. That also was my first year! Hidden Falls, Highland or Battle Creak, in that particular order. But when the hunt starts, I'll try to clear my noodle of any thoughts, and start anew.

Hay, Tim! Me, too. Noodling *something* now is better than not noodling at all, at least for me. I can't help but noodle. Like a puppy with a bone.

Hay, if Ter can "ace" the park even before the first clue comes out, maybe I'll get lucky and hit on it... some year!

Chair-O-Key was my first year, too! Tho it took me awhile to get there... LOL!!! I was in Battle Creek.

Cherokee was our first *real* year since I moved back from California. I remember kind of doing some noodling in 94-97, but only drove past a couple parks, and never even got out to dig. Course that was when #1 child was a baby, and we were more afraid to leave our precious ones in the hands of others.

Boy, how times change!

Yep--I too went to mounds before Cherokee. There was a clue about "pyramids". While we all now know this referred to the shape of the picnic shelters at Cherokee, many of us thought that could only mean "a pointy burial place". Honestly, if the clue writer was paranoid about senseless idiots desecrating the burial mounds, you think he/she would stay far away from a clue like that. While such a connection may not have been forseen, it got me, and a lot of other people. I personally believe PP did this on purpose--put in a Mound-like clue to see what people how people would behave. If people went grave digging, PP could always say that it was a case of mistaken identity. Ergo--I think all of the "Never at Mounds" speak should be discounted. It could be there right now!

As for math difficulty, I believe that everyone can learn math, as soon as they find some way to relate it to their personal life. When I entered college, I started with remedial math, and finished with 8 quarters of calculus under my belt. It can be done!

WOW, Dave! I'm impressed. GOOD FOR YOU!

Hay, you guys. I need some help here... I need some kind'a good tape. Strong stuff, you know? Like duct tape. But it has to be something that won't hurt like the finish/paint job on a car.

Does such an anjamul even xsist?

Green--try an auto parts store. 3M makes a double faced foam tape with a pretty good adhesive that is used for attaching auto trim. When you want to take it off, apply a little heat with a blow dryer, and it will come off. Maybe there is a 3M employee lurking out there with more info....

Terry

Hello Everyone! Isn't it nice that we're all gathering here again?

I agree that folks can learn math - but for some it comes much easier - like there is a brain function that is more finely tuned to understand the abstract concepts that math - especially advanced math can bring.

I relate it to art in my life. I'm a frustrated artist. I see colors, shape, form, shadows, perspective, but try as I might, I have trouble getting that on paper or canvas. I keep studying it though - and trying - someday I'll actually feel comfortable with my efforts.

If I remember the comments about the pyramids and how that translated to burial mounds, I believe it had to do with the fact they were both burial sites. Far reaching thoughts - but that's how it connected.

Also, never apply tape to a vehicle at wintertime temps--see if you can find someone with a heated garage--at least 50 degrees. Helps with the stickiness. My 197,000 mile 92 Taurus is held together by tape!

Thankee, Dave; THANKEE!!!

Would that work with paper? Here's what's going down: MOM GOT THE COOLER CREW MOBILE!!! We're thinking signs on it. Like one on the bock that says, "Follow Us To The Medallion." And on the sides one(s) that everbuddy could sign with markers. Maybe one that lists parks and then they get crossed off as The Crew figures out The Med's not there, or after The Mobile's been there. Something like that.

What do you think? Any ideas? I can prolly get some butcher paper... And I could prolly get some o'that 3M tape...

What do you think would be good? How could this be done? What's some ideas?????????

Terry, I tried water colours *once." Tried to paint "Timmy-willie in a Peapod," and it turned out looking like a t*rd on a leaf! Someday I'd like to take oil lessons.

In order to find the treasure you seek,

Just open your treasure hunters guide and take a peak,

Look for 1980 where the treasure was found,

Go a bit NorthWest and the puck is sitting on the ground!

NICE clue, Tim! In about 15 years, you'll prolly be our next Clue Writer!

Nope, Downtown Dave and Santa Dave are two different folks. Santa Dave *is* also known as DDY, tho. Santa Dave looks just like... Santa! You met him last year at the Re-Hash Bash. And you met Downtown Dave, too... I think.

And a Joe! for Eags!

I tried writing clues and even scouting a site for a summer 'mock hunt' with AllisonWonderland, but it never worked out. I did, though think it was neat to look at that site of the hunt's perspactive. I hope it will help me as well as other coolerheads in this years hunt!

Sat, 01/13/2001 - 1:12 PM Permalink

Bet that's it! What do you have your links set at? Like stuff that comes up with an underline. Is all underlined stuff showing green? If so, that's what it is - your computer settings.

Like, all my links show blue. All else is black.

Very nice clue writing Tim. I see the spot you're talking about. Hey Green, don't chap my hide....just tell me your secret color trick. I need to get Purple because of the Vikings.

Hunter, I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. I'm showing black. I've done nothing. I've not done any HTML because we can't. I think it's what you're computer's set at.

We've got a timing issue on our messages...I'll work on the color thing as time passes. I would like to see your green come back though.

Until later T & G, I've got some chores to tackle. Get it, TACKLE.

Hi all again!

That's right. The HTML was taken away cuz someone posted on all the boards in huge blue letters - and did so with several posts. Also, you might recall some porn photos showing up here one night. Without the HTML, that kind of thing won't be able to happen again.

I left all my hunting books and stuff down south...bound and determined not to do too much studying this weekend...so I'll have to wait till I'm back south on Monday night to check out that clue.
