The resignation letter:

Dear Hillary –

I am stepping down from your finance committee so I can speak for myself and you can continue to speak for yourself about what is at stake in this campaign.

The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you.

I won't let that happen.

Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do to make this a better world for my children and grandchildren.

You have my deep admiration and respect.

Gerry

in 1984 if my name was Gerard Ferraro instead of Geraldine Ferraro, I would have never been chosen as a vice presidential candidate," Ferraro said on ABC's "Good Morning America." "It had nothing to do with my qualification."

That was 24 years ago. I hope we've evolved as a nation since then.

The same could be said for Hillary. If she wasn't the wife of a former president, she wouldn't be in this position either.

I think Obama is doing so well because he is appealing to younger first time voters even though he is saying the same things that many older candidates have said in the past. I think his ethnicty plays a role certainly, but that also works against him. Racism is still rampant in this country.

Much has to do with charisma. He certainly has lots of that.

And I think from comments I've heard from some women, the fact that Hillary stood by her man during and after the Lewinsky matter, has made her less desirable to be running the country.

Of course, if she had left him, there would be those that would find fault with that as well.

Eight more months and this election will be over - unless there are hanging chads anywhere again. :pbpt:

"We all know what's wrong with Gotham. Crime is out of control, and instead of protecting our streets, too many cops have become criminals themselves. This is why my mission has been to stamp out police corruption. And this is why I'm considering a run for District Attorney. But I can't do it alone. I need to know if you, the people of Gotham, want change. Do you want a Gotham free from the grip of criminals and the corrupt? Are you ready to join a crusade to take back our city?"

Turner: Global Warming Will Cause Mass Cannibalism, Insurgents Are Patriots

On not taking drastic action to correct global warming: Not doing it will be catastrophic. We'll be eight degrees hotter in ten, not ten but 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow. Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals. - Ted Turner

On what will happen if global warming is not addressed immediately:

TED TURNER: Not doing it will be catastrophic. We'll be eight degrees hotter in ten, not ten but 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow. Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals. Civilization will have broken down. The few people left will be living in a failed state -- like Somalia or Sudan -- and living conditions will be intolerable. The droughts will be so bad there'll be no more corn grown. Not doing it is suicide. Just like dropping bombs on each other, nuclear weapons is suicide. We've got to stop doing the suicidal two things, which are hanging on to our nuclear weapons and after that we've got to stabilize the population. When I was born-

CHARLIE ROSE: So what's wrong with the population?

TURNER: We're too many people. That's why we have global warming. We have global warming because too many people are using too much stuff. If there were less people, they'd be using less stuff.

Student to McCain: "Care to join me for a shot?"

....

A second student raised Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton's weekend visit to an Indiana bar, where she knocked back a shot of whiskey.

"I was wondering if you think that she's finally resorted to hitting the sauce just because of some unfavorable polling. And I was also wondering if you would care to join me for a shot after this?" the student asked.

Hoots and hollers came from the audience. McCain laughed, too.

"I did not see the clip of it but I certainly heard about it, and whatever makes Senator Clinton happy is ... is certainly, uh, certainly ...," McCain said with a broad smile, chuckling and raising his eyebrows.

"You know, I've had two of the best questions, or the toughest questions that I have ever had in the last two questions," he said.

I think McCain was probably a boilermaker type of dude in his prime - I highly doubt if his innards could handle a night of College binge drinking nowadays.

+6 - But still will end up being a minus in the long run since her chances are dwindling. She could take the state by 30 and it wouldn't matter that much at this point. She should be campaigning the super-delegates instead of the smaller states right now.

Even though I am probably a die-hard Democrat in beliefs, I actually like that McCain has the courage to stuff it to his own party and do what he thinks is right. Apparently he has no shot in Washington since the smaller elections will saturate congress with Democrats and leave him stranded.

I talked to the husband of one of our State Reps. He said it is a very common thing for people to saturate congress the "garbage" bills that will never get passed, just so someone can say "So and So voted AGAINST black orphans in Zimbabwe" as part of a smear ad campaign. Pathetic.

Roger Waters plays 'Dark Side,' unleashes giant 'Vote Obama' pig...

.... But Waters' biggest prop was an inflatable pig the size of a school bus that emerged while he played a version of "Pigs" from 1977's capitalism critique, "Animals."

The pig, which was led above the crowd from lines held on the ground, displayed the words "Don't be led to the slaughter" and a cartoon of Uncle Sam wielding two bloody cleavers. The other side read "Fear builds walls."

The underside of the pig simply read "Obama" with a checked ballot box alongside. .....

Cool find. He usually has his pigs done up in a political flair but I can't remember him ever actually endorsing somebody. He has some clout and simply putting a name on the underside of a huge pig could prove to be a successful endorsement. Although he does seem to use different pigs for each show. Or at least has a handful of them on hand anyway. The first shot is from when we went in June of last year and the second one is the Obama pig from last night.

Whatever happens with the Democrats in the next few weeks - I can tell you the death knell of either campaign. If they start constantly talking about themselves as some sort of minority that has been held down - that's the lowest common denominator - the end of the proverbial rope.

It means they are begging for sympathy votes instead of trying to earn trust. I hope to God they have enough grace to back out before they get to that point.

Approval of U.S. Congress ties record lows

WASHINGTON, May 14 (UPI) -- The approval rating of the U.S. Congress dropped to near-record levels and is lower than U.S. President George Bush's mark, a Gallup poll indicates.

The telephone survey of 1,017 U.S. adults indicates 18 percent of those interviewed May 8-11 approve of the current Congress. The score matches record lows from similar Gallup polls in August 2007 and March 1992.

Gallup said Wednesday the reason for the low approval rating is because "rank-and-file Democrats are providing no support cushion for the Democratic-controlled institution."

The same poll indicated approval ratings of Bush hover around his record lows, with 29 percent of respondents voicing support for the president.

Gallup reported a sampling error of 3 percentage points.
