I have thought about Turtle Lake a few times for the aforementioned reasons. The 5-6-7th clues all seem to say Snail Lake AND the area we have concentrated on the most.............but no ticket was found

Has anyone checked the early edition of tomorrow's Strib to see if there's another clue or anything?

mrmnmikey

I dont know for sure, but those signs with the trails on them looked like there was a tunnel up by Turtle lake somewhere.

I think there may be a clue tomorrow. the hotline says a clue daily up to 7 or until found. That would mean another clue tomorrow.

Just got home...had a fabulous time, too!

As far as another clue, I am hoping for one but their intention in the wording may mean "unless it's found sooner than 7 clues"...not necessarily that they will produce another clue...

The Blue Fox is just a block or two from Cub and I seriously thought about killing time until 2:30 and then checking it out....but Iceman, I'm counting on you to find out!

a true editor or writer would make this story exciting....

I'm so tired of boring newspaper stories

I talked with Nick and Lowell as Nick held tightly to that Gold Ticket. They were shaking of excitement telling me of their adventure this weekend and how they desperately were searching to see through their breath in the chilly Saturday morning air, the sun just coming up with a trace of fog drifting off Snail Lake. They were racking their brains as they had just walked from the parking lot and under a bridge. They kept walking on the snow drifted, winter beaten tar trail til As they look up they see the twin radio towers, these metal monsters flashing red lights bright in the sky in clear view. they saw the two broken and lifeless old logs laying in the bog that once were their own Masters of this Northern land. They trudged through several feet of snow to get to them. "Lowell, It must be right here!, everything fits." They dug around the logs with their bare hands. Lowells hands were so cold he could hardly feel them when ....There it was! the white sock with the Chicago Cubs logo. Lowell whispers as he sees the golden glisten through the sock threads, nestled between a couple of branches, "I can't believe it, I just can't beleive it".

They brought the Ticket home, placing it above the fireplace and admired their Holy Grail for a couple of days in the warmth of their home with beer and tons of food while others faught the bitter cold Boreas to their deaths. Monday morning when they finally drove to the Star Trib to turn in the ticket they had no remorse as they heard of the news of 20 frozen bodies found in the bog of Snail Lake, they were just to excited too throw out the first ball at tonights baseball game.

Clue explanations were published in the Strib today.. we basically figured everything out. "Right route" in the 2nd to last clue did in fact mean that we were supposed to turn right down the side path. Sorry Becks, no anagrams. :frown:

Clue #1:

The ticket rests a ways

away from our covered home,

in a place of open space where

squirrels and rabbits roam.

The ticket is located in a forested area.

Clue #2

When you watch our boys play,

hustling you'll see,

however you'll want to ignore,

Mr. Greeley's plea.

Mr. Greeley's plea was to "go west." By ignoring his plea, the clue indicates the ticket is located on the east side of the Twin Cities.

Clue #3:

Strain your neck,

look up and stare

for shades of the Twins

In the air.

The twin radio towers in Shoreview help lead you to the location. The towers are red and white -- two of the Twins colors.

Clue #4

Now you're getting warmer, it's time

to go on foot. Turn over every stone

to find out where it's put.

The ticket is hidden under a stone.

Clue #5

Only those who move at a

snail's pace, will be the ones to

win the race.

The ticket is located in Snail Lake Park in Shoreview.

Clue #6:

Go underground, then come

back out. Continue on, you're on

the right route.

There is a tunnel under the street from the parking lot at Snail Lake Park. "Right" refers to the direction to take when reaching a crossroad.

Clue #7

Off the path, 40 paces you

must go, underneath a giant tree,

cloaked like chicago

The ticket was located under a stone beneath a large tree forty paces off the path. It was cloaked in a white sock hence the reference to Chicago.

I don't get the newspaper article explanation (2 fallen trees in the bog) vs the clue explanation (turn on the path to the right and then 40 paces off the path)...in my mind, these are two different places in opposite directions...am I missing something here???

are they calling the area to the right (as you come oout of the tunnel) a bog??? I'm thinking of the big bog to the left w/the big fallen trees

THE MOST AMAZING RACE

Join The Salvation Army for The MOST Amazing Race and your chance to win $5,000, courtesy of Wells Fargo

“The 2008 MOST Amazing Race” is an official event of the Minneapolis Aqautennial and will take place on July 26, 2008 leading the teams on a large-scale race around Minneapolis. This third annual fundraising event benefits The Salvation Army's Bed and Bread Club®, which helps alleviate hunger and homelessness in the Twin Cities. Over $86,000 has been raised since the event started in 2006!

Patterned after the TV show “The Amazing Race” this scavenger-hunt-like-race includes a qualifying event, the morning of the actual race day. The qualifying event narrows the field down to 20 teams of two people, who compete in “The MOST Amazing Race” that afternoon. Up to five teams can automatically qualify for the final race by raising over $1500.

From the starting line, the final teams will be given a clue leading them to a checkpoint somewhere in Minneapolis. They can only use Metro Transit for transportation throughout the race. Upon arriving at the various checkpoints throughout the day, they will be required to complete a task in order to receive the next clue. Tasks would be either physically or mentally challenging, and could involve tedious activities, trivial contests, or food challenges.

The first team to reach the finish line will win the grand prize of $5,000 courtesy of Wells Fargo.

Check out highlights and results of the 2007 MOST Amazing Race.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is the BlackBerry® Curve™ Challenge: Destination Alcatraz really FREE? Yes it is a FREE event. All we ask is that you come prepared to have an amazing time!

What is the BlackBerry® Curve™ Challenge: Destination Alcatraz?

Good question! You will be tested in a scavenger hunt-style race where you'll need to test your physical and mental muscles in a series of challenges, in order to complete the race. You will be given a series of locations with different challenges at each point; it is up to you to choose the order in which you complete them. The team that completes the most in the shortest time will win the challenge! Get ready to hit the streets for the BlackBerry Curve Challenge: Destination Alcatraz!

    Do I need to own a BlackBerry® Curve™ 8330 smartphone to participate?

No, these are brand new devices and will be provided for you to use during the challenge.

May I use my own mobile device during the race?

Racers are instructed to use only the device handed out at registration in order to complete the BlackBerry® Curve™ Challenge. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

How many people make up a team?

    Two people per team.

    Are there divisions?

Nope. Everyone is on the same playing field for this one. Choose your teammate wisely.

How do we get from checkpoint to checkpoint?

Well, that is a personal decision. As far as the race rules are concerned, you are only permitted to travel by foot or by public transportation (bus, train, ferry). Any other means of transportation, unless otherwise indicated in the official Racer Guidebook, are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification.

Will there be lines or a wait to complete a checkpoint challenge?

Hopefully not. Race Management has taken the necessary steps to ensure a smooth and consistent race flow at all times and at all locations. However, given the dynamic and unpredictable nature of this event, a wait might materialize. In this event, please note that checkpoint challenges will be attempted on a first-come, first-served basis. Remember, you are free to visit the locations in any order you desire. This also means that, if you get to a checkpoint and there are other teams there, you are free to continue on to another location.

Both sound fun with the exception of using public transportation. I realize that it's what they have to do so as to not create a drag race around town. As much knowledge I have with the cities streets and highways, I don't know squat about public transportation. Maybe Nick would be perfect for these types of events?

And I know we could pull ahead if Kitch was on my team during the cheerleader event. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H74-7qrUieI

I'd rat out our resident cheerleader if he decided to participate because of being a professional.
