gaining weight on vacation, and now having to buckle down to lose it.. tonights dinner? tofu, brown rice and asparagus - all things I really really love, but man... a big order of greasy fries sure sounds good..
It is really difficult to get back in the heathier eating, isn't it?
When I am eating the healthful stuff, I don't even want the junk.
But when I'm finally getting the message that I need to get back to eating right, oh my, nothing would taste better than - well, tonight, it is a BBQ pork sandwich I'm thinking about. And some potato chips and a beer. But pizza sounds good too, or a big smothered burrito, or ...
I went shopping hungry the other day... bought chips, pizzas and about four 1/2 gallons of ice creams. but I did also buy lots of weight watcher lunch meals. love those.
it takes 21 days they say to break a bad habit... so it certainly takes a while for my body to stop wanting all the crap that is for sure (and i don't have 21 days between now and memorial day - when I will do it all over again!)
could fix 90% of my eating problems with just remembering to eat on a regular schedule, that seems to keep me to eating better things more frequently.
Yeah, I was thinking something like a milkshake or something, but the dentist advised me against using a straw because of not disturbing the blood clots. Then my roommate reminded me now that I got two holes in the back of my jaw "what if food gets stuck back there?"
Shoot, the main reason I didn't eat yesterday was because I was too confused about what might cause me problems.
Applesauce that's not too cold. PB&J with lots of jelly. Straw drinks are perfectly fine - you just have to be smart enough not to jam the straw into the sore socket. You'd think that would be simple enough, right? Ow!
Last tooth I got pulled, I laid down and napped for 6-8 hours right after - left the gauze in there. I think that was huge not moving around, because healing went extremely fast and I didn't need any gauze after the 2nd day.
Always rinse with warm water - once the bleeding stops for good, you can swish it around as hard as you like. I'd avoid toothpicks for at least a week.
google-searching on this, sounds like a lot of people suggest applesauce, scrambled eggs, ice cream and milkshakes (eat with a spoon if concerned about the suction involved in using a straw disrupting clots), tomato soup or other broth (once you are having warm foods again), and I would think cream of wheat or oatmeal would be ok.
seems like a little care and caution for a few days is good prevention, plus you are probably following what your instincts tell you to do and not to do.
I wish dentists would be a little more specific in their instructions. I know they try to not make it complicated, but for those of us who want to do it the best possible way, some concrete suggestions would be helpful.
was so sick from the allergic reaction to the extra strength vicodin (i was 15, and they gave me a dose for a 200lb man) that I threw up for a week straight - and after when they sorted my meds out... chowed down on a sack of white castles.. :0)
my roommate got dry socket last year ... I've never heard him cry so much - he got it from smoking a cig and the suction.. not good.
Thanks for looking that up for me. I'd check it out myself, but work is a disaster today.
Good thoughts on the applesauce, I think I'll go with that one. I certainly hope those holes fill up, it'd be annoying to have food get stuck up there all the time. Oh well, I'm back to the dentist in a couple weeks for more fun stuff, I'm sure I can ask about it if they haven't done something by then.
How did that go? I know you were nervous. Must not have been too bad since you're going back. Dentistry is pretty much pain free these days. I tell my dentist he hasn't hurt me yet. Even through root canals and crowns.
Pretty good actually. The only thing really to fear is the bill, lol.
But all in all, I'm glad I've been back. Prevention is better than fixing worse problems anyway. Now if I just keep up with the regular checkups, I'll be fine.
More and more though, it's becoming unavoidable. Today it went to a new level, one I used to joke about, but when it happens, it's not a joke anymore. :frown:
a squirrel finding his way into my shed and storing all his nuts inside my snowmobile cover. Its full of holes now. Found his nest inside a bucket and a hole in the floor. Nailed a 2x4 over the hole and dumped the bucket. Used the nuts in my live trap outside. Now I'll just have to remember to check the trap. Last one wasn't so lucky. Felt kinda bad about that.
wow. I had just read your post about the wren and Eags post about her squirrel just before I posted this. I didn't see your post about the attic squirrel. We musta posted at the same time almost.
my upper back tooth on the right side. Started hurting yesterday and was throbbing last night and this morning. Musta got a fish bone stuck up there from fridaynights fish fry at Obbs. :frown:
Getting rained out at the Saints game last night - brought Mom and Dad - sat out there for a good hour and got good n' soaked until the "Rain Delay" became a postponement.
They are playing a doubleheader today starting at 1:00, but our tickets were Season Ticket holder 'loaners', so no free access to today's game.
FIY: The Ball Delivery Piglet they got this year is named "BOAR-ock O-HAM-ah" - Voting beat out Hillary Rod-HAM Clinton and John MUCK-lain by a wide margin. (In a campaign that featured lots of mudslinging and pork-barrel politics. He replaces Garrison Squealer, the 2007 delivery swine.
yes and i got the 4G for $28 at best buy this weekend - so I'm rollin.
irritates: getting elbowed in the face Sat night at my soccer game.. I still have a fat lip. The worst part is - I got the two min penality, cause after she elbowed me, I threw her down. oops. :sheepish:
It's not anything important that I usually keep on there- occasionally if I"m working on something at work, and I want to take it home or back and forth - this last time, I had jacked a bunch of photos off a friends computer in mexico - which made me glad to be able to down load them.
but I don't as a rule need one. I have an external hardrive too at home, that I back up to when I remember (speaking of - I have photos I need to do that with soon)
See u tonight?

Yesterday I did really well - I didn't count my points, but I was somewhere around 17.. I need no more than 19 a day to lose.
Today is harder - it's softball night.

Now, don't go out and eat concrete, though, OK?
Couldn't just leave that one...hmmmmmm...
