I miss my dogs so much.

There is a nice little guy at the local humane society, but I just can't.

So I sponsored half of his adoption fee!

Isn't he a sweetie?

I did the sponsorship on Monday. Just after I posted the above, I went to the humane society webpage and Rockwell has been adopted today!!!

Tears of joy, here.

Edited to add a picture of my little Frodo, of whom Rockwell reminded me so much, it was just tugging at my heartstrings.

Beautiful dog! Will you be getting a dog once you move back to Minnesota? I bet there are a lot of dogs here that deserve you.

I loved that Australian Shepherd that you posted a picture of a while back! Buster or something? He was from a shelter in Wyoming, MN.

His name was Wallaby. I *think* he's been adopted. I called about him and didn't get a return call. Soon after that, his profile was no longer on petfinders.

Good. As I recall, he had been adopted and then returned?
Thu, 05/22/2008 - 9:13 AM Permalink
Eags

Yes, I think that might have been the case. Seems like he needed a home without young children, if I recall correctly.

When we were Discin' Highland on Sunday, someone was training an Aussie Shepherd to catch frisbees. The dog was so fast he'd often outrun the disk and had to double back and pick it up.

I wonder if anyone has clocked an Aussie Shepherd or Border Collie. Those things can run so fast they disappear. I could be looking at Frodo, and blink, and he'd be gone - out of sight. We used to refer to it as, "Frodo must have put the Ring on".

Would be fun to see that one you described Mad D.

Merlin, our weiner dog, has been a finalist in Woodbury's Dachshund Dash ever since it was started. He's not speedy, but he doesn't get distracted by the other dogs - makes a beeline for 'Mama' when we say 'go'.

Weiner dog racing is literally 50% speed - 50% focus on the finish line.

Clue Master

Same goes for weiners in general :sheepish:

Mad_Dach5und

I don't think a weiner has ever "won" by being the fastest. EVER.
Thu, 05/22/2008 - 1:27 PM Permalink
Clue Master

Maybe not the fastest during a sprint but the fastest during a marathon. Depends if your on your lunch break or not. :sheepish:

And my wiener doggie always makes a beeline for 'Mama' when she says 'go' :ooh:

Ali's hamster Tidy died this morning. She's pretty bummed out about it. Even more so when I pointed out the dry water spout.

The water container? Heck no. Life lesson. I can guarantee she won't let the next one die from dehydration. In fact she added water to both the cats bowl and the fishtank

Thanks everyone for your condolences. I'll be sure to show the thread to Ali when I get home.

If you can get some of the RE-ANIMATOR juice they used in the movie, you can bring Tidy back like this:

I have a nice little Snowbabies "Catch a Falling Snowflake" box here. 6 1/2" x 3 1/2", 4" high that you can have if you want to stop for it. I'm here all day. It even has pretty gold stars on the top.

By the time I was 11 I had two pet dogs die, butchered two seasons worth of raised chickens, and helped field dress a white tailed deer.

Maybe that's because I'm a GUY

I couldn't do it again after, I think the 3rd one, had cancer and surgery and still passed away. I was attached to the little bugger.

CM, do you want a bird cage for your bird? I have no need for one since Mr. Peepers died. :frown:

CM, I'm leaving for a softball game soon, so if you see this and I'm not here and you want the cage I'll leave it on the front porch.
