2008 Oakdale Summerfest Hunt

Submitted by KITCH on
Clue 1 Each year, it begins the same.
We remind you how to play.
No digging, climbing, or swimming.

There. Now you’re on your way.
Celebrate on the fourth of July,
By proudly waving the flag.
But to learn the clue, pick only two hues,
Or up front you will start to lag.

Clue 2 X marks the spot
For you to pause and ponder.
If your mind is wide open,
You’ll know you need to wander.

Business association extraordinaire!
Our sponsors, the OBPA.
A strong foundation in the community,
A group effort that paves the way.

Clue 3 It’s only natural to solve the clues.
And we want you to find the prize.
So look for it a little beyond,
And it’s wearing a bit of a disguise.

If you’re a veteran of hunts,
Or just starting out,
To find the hidden medallion,
You simply need to seek it out.

Clue 4 No ransom to pay
To a road traveled less.
Pretty smooth sailing,
By where you end your quest.

It’s good to be constructive,
So don’t detour any more.
Living on a prayer used to work,
But now it’s another door.

natural area, just beyond the place you paused on the trail, close to where you start out, hidden in tree line.

Another hue I thought of is Howard Hughes.

Well, it's definitely Oakdale Park, it's called Oakdale Nature Preserve on their site.

I'm in total agreement... I'm going to try to leave work around noon or so if we haven't had patients added. Anyone else gonna be out?

I just got back from there. Met a woman who was looking. She said she found the North St Paul one a couple times and looks for the St Paul winter carnival med too.

There were a lot of cars in the lot. Saw at least 2 people looking.

Found where KC claimed his territory and also found a bench dedicated to a educator (learn the clue).

Wish I could be out there now.. did you check the trail intersection near the nature center?

On the online map, the trails are marked in red and what could be mistaken as blue. There's an intersection of a red and "blue" trail near the nature center.

yea, I looked around there, but I was only out for an hour. "A spot for you to pause" could be the patio furniture on the patio for the new nature center. Thats a really nice building!

If you go off the path bring some insect spray with you.

If I went out again I'd go just past the building and into the field just beyond the path.

Or possibly along the path next to mud lake just north of the nature center.

Well assuming the darned thing hasn't been found, I'll be out at Oakdale park tonight. Maybe I'll see some other people out too.

I saw Becksie and 3M out in the park today, it's a pretty huge park so I bet it won't be found for a couple more clues.

Yep, we found a big X and a strong foundation. BFG, don't forget to log the geocache you and Becks found.

The name of the cache is "Ivy Rubble" GCVFWM

KC0GRN

where'd you find a big x?

After checking out my hunches, I'm thinking this might be another wild goose chase. Shoot, I even tried looking in the dog poop bag dispensers, nothin. If it's there, it's most likely under a fallen log along a path.

Regardless,I'll try again in the morning. Saw a few people out, nobody I know. More of your casual clueless "Oh I'll go and pick it up" crowd.

I think I walked every path in the darn park, paved or otherwise...good company, though

Right when you pull into the nature center driveway. In between the 2 powerpoles is a huge X made out of timber.

And the foundation is the cache site I posted afew posts back.

I noticed, whilst sitting in the parking lot, that the lot area itself forms an x. The old nature center lot and the lot where we parked for one side of the x and the drive into the park and the path directly ahead (in front of the discovery center) forming the other side (scratching head)

Far south Oakdale. They had a detour on old Hudson road (the frontageroad for 94.

This one's either at Titan park or Tanners. I'll be out at Titan in a short while.

Back from Titan, for a tiny no name park, it was crawling with teenagers (ovbiously I wasn't the only one to come up with that idea). There's actually not a lot there. A bit of woods to search, but that's been gone over pretty well at this point.

It might be possible they put it at the south end of Tanner's lake, though part of that is Landfall. The road with new pavement goes right by the south part of the lake.

Tommy "used to work on the docks" but the "union's been on strike, he's down on his luck".

That same year, "Livin' on a Prayer" was the "theme song" for the 2004 Boston red Sox after their historic comeback in the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees. .

The song is often played during Chicago White Sox home games.

Bon Jovi have themselves reworked the song several times, including an acoustic live version that served as a precursor to the MTV Unplugged series and a re-recorded version of the song, "Prayer '94", which appeared on U.S. versions of their Cross Roads hits collection.
