Getting rained out for my volunteer shift at golf tonight (bummer) BUT got home in time to join my husband and kids to go to Perkins to eat! Laughed so hard - it was great!
Now we are curled up in bed to watch Spiderwick - Bye!
Hi Steph....hope you are having a terrific summer and having fun with the boys. They sure look like they would be lots of fun and great to do things with
We are going to Disneyworld Sept. 18 - 23. We've never been and are looking forward to it. Did't you go for your sons birthday last year? It looked lilke you all had a blast! What would you recommend?
During that timeframe there is the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Sept 19th and 23rd. This is an extra ticket price but there is NOONE in the Magic Kingdom and the parade and fireworks are the best Disney has ever done.
As far as what to do, there is such neat things at every one of the parks. Animal Kingdom is our least favorite although there are some very cool rides there. It is also very nice to just walk around.
Yes we went last year for the boys birthday...But growing up in Florida it was a weekly event. I LOVE IT THERE!!!!!
If you have specific questions I would be happy to see what answers I can come up with!!! :goofy:
Our Honeymoon at the House of Mouse World involved 12-15 rolls of film. We got them all developed when we got back. Took some great shots, including night photos of the fireworks over Cindy's castle.
The shutter had failed on the camera without us knowing! We got back a dozen film envelopes with nothing in each frame except the time & date code burned into the corner by the camera. The film loaded and advanced and rewinded like it was supposed to - how were we to know there was anything wrong? The only photos from our honeymoon ended up being a cheap souvenir keychain and some street vendors' polaroid with a parrot on my shoulder. D'oh!
an old frail black woman (yes, I could tell)... begins telling me about how she can't answer her phone. I knew right away that she was trying to contact a cell phone company because I've had a previous call this month similar. So as she goes on I interupt her and tell her that my # is similar to the phone co but she dialed the incorrect #...she tells me to GIVE HER THAT NUMBER!! all old cranky lady like. I tell her I can 'google' it for her and she says that I'll have to google it for lots of people and asks who I am. I tell her the company name and she rants about a 1-888 # and T-mobile and to give her the number. I was THIS close to hanging up on her but thought I would be so kind to help an old cranky woman out..... I pull T-Mobile up on the screen but know its not easy to find a phone number so I look at my phone key pad and start giving her the numbers - 1-888- M is a 6, O is a 6, B is a 2 - she interupts and says "just give me the number", I say "I am" she says "oh" so I continue to say 1-888- 866- 2453. I hang up with her and give the number a quick call to be sure I got it right..... OMG!!! It's a sex talk #!!!!!!!!!!! NO LIE! WAY FUNNY!!
turns out that the woman was saying 888 but she truely wanted 800.
WOW!!! she won't ask for a phone number from me again anytime soon- she didn't call back.
what do you have against our geese? they liked you :pbpt: we're trying to save one from a certain inability to fly because its got angel wing. and somehow the first person tc thought of for a wild goose chase was a big red animal loving bear with a big heart.
thanks bear. not many people would come out and try. we're still trying. if anyone has any ideas on how to catch a goose, please feel free to pitch in.
oh and those of you who would like to see gosling on your dinner table can keep your suggestions to yourselves please.
no. no we haven't. now they all look at us with cocked heads wondering what's coming next. wish we had a picture of you with the net though. that was hilarious. a big purring furball says hello. and that he misses his normal staff. he's doing well
we'd recommend making dinner reservations now for your trip
we're checking out mickey's very merry christmas party when we go after thanksgiving. like pay me said about the not so scary halloween party, its an extra cost thing but the park is dead for it. we did the pirate and princess dance last year; same thing. no lines. it was great.
when we went to disney world the first time i had a compactflash card go screwy on me and lost several hundred photos. fortunately i was able to recover them, but i learned an important lesson that day: always have a spare memory card. cuz even after going for 5 years in a row, we still have pictures to take.
The quickest way to catch the goose is - barbaric as it sounds - is to snag their leg on a long hook like they do at a chicken farm. Something like a long roof rake handle with a coathanger hook on the end. After you ease in and trip them up, it's a lot earier to grab them - years of 4-H fair projects taught me that. A snare trap will hurt their leg and a net is just plain ugly if they struggle.
Honkers are nasty - they WILL bite. Wear gloves and long sleeves. A farm turkey may have a sharp beak, but they're not smart enough to use it. If you can't just grab them - a tossed blanket can be used as an effective net - but you still have to trip them up first!
Yep Ares is right, any reservations can be made as early as 180 days in advance. And certain reservations will fill up that fast too.
If you are staying in a Disney hotel you may want to consider the dining plan. For some people it is worth it some people not so much. I know that during the dates you are going to be there they have free dining but it looks like you had to book by June 22nd. If you did that and are staying on Disney property I would call and find out if you are getting it.
Its funny now that we have been going pretty regularly, it is so much different going as a "tourist" then going as a local. That is the one thing I miss about Florida is beig able to go there whenever I wanted.
Couple of good places to go for information. www.wdwinfo.com is part of a community both OTiS and I post at but that main site answers a lot of the everyday questions.
If you are staying on property use their transportation as well as the EXTRA Magic Hours....(less crowded). Also use fast pass.
if anyone has any ideas on how to catch a goose, please feel free to pitch in.
Terry could tell you how Santa Dave and Woodsman Bob caught ducks and transported them in a truck...don't know if it would help you catch geese, but it will make you laugh - guaranteed!
We are staying at the Caribe Royale Orlando. We are using a free trip I won off the radio and have to use a NWA world vacations hotel..this was the best they had for our $$$'s in the package.
There way too much to see down there in Orlando. We've only made a few trips and we've only seen Sea World, Universal Studios and Islands, Disney World and some of the smaller stuff that's near downtown.
When we were at Disney World, I don't even think we made it around to the back side of the park where the little kids' stuff was. The long lines for Space Mountain and the other coasters ate up a lot of time.
Next time we'll get the park hopper for probably a whole week. If you love coasters, though - you HAVE to go to Universal - Islands of Adventure.
Sea World's one big coaster - the Krakken - is a blast to ride. You gotta sit in the front row, though - no dashboard and your feet hang free. It's wild!
Not that it helps much, but they got the guys that busted into my car on the parking ramp security cameras. I'm getting a copy tomorrow, another one going to the police.
I knew Ares and TC were getting too much into it....
Now we are curled up in bed to watch Spiderwick - Bye!
Everyone enjoy their night
Listening to great tunes during the drive north.
Friday nights in the land of ahhhhhs.
Sound of tree frogs lulling us to sleep.
It truly is the simple pleasures that mean the most.
Big question: Did Ares catch the goose???
Mrs. Bear also says hello to the gang.
Please let me know how it is in Disneyworld, what parks you went to and what you did.....what was you favorites and what to ignore.
Bob and just booked a trip to there for Sept and have never been.
Diggin are you going at the beginning or end of September?

but yeah... its kinda like playing the lottery though....
but please... if anybody does still use them... dont try to get any porno pictures developed....
I had a buddy that worked in the target photo lab for a while....
cant count the number of times he "confiscated" a few pictures for himself.... either of nude girls, or people doing the nasty.....
:eyeroll:
I answer the phone here at work ...

In the park .... where do you suggest we make our reservations for there? Should we make them for lunch too or just dinner?
Thanks for all the advise - it is our first visit and knowing some of the insider tips is a huge advantage!
