whitney was paid $8 an hour with a few kids.- so $8 for 2. Maybe $10 for 3 or more. Depending on the age of the kids being watched. The more care- ie: baby and diapers the more $.
I think $5 and hour is plenty and thats IF they play with the kid AND clean up after the playing and/or feeding. the house should be at least as clean as when you left and dishes put in the dishwasher and toys picked up and mellow mood when I walk in the door goes with babysitting. I TIP if the house is cleaner than when I left.
Keep in mind if the kid is sleeping than $5 is good- Holidays and weekends = more $ an hour- maybe even double! and ordering pizza for the sitter is helpful and nice.
right- I don't know of any kid that carries a list or says what they think they should get.
I'm just saying what I've seen Whitney get and I know what I would pay -
I used to get $2.00 for a kid and $3.50 for 2 when I was a teenager.
New Years Eve, they bought pizza and gave me more $.
I know I was asked back by one couple because their house was always a bit cleaner than when they left - I picked up toys and did dinner dishes - they also picked me up and drove me home. I had repeat business so to speak. I earned it.
Another thing is transportation - Do you pick up the sitter to come to your house? or does the parent have to bring them over OR do you bring your child to them - just all depends.
Interesting. I have a neighbor that's sort of new in the area, and her hubby works 70 hrs/week. So if we want to include her in various shenannigans, was curious what babysitting costs generally are these days.
My neighbor and daycare provider has teenagers and sometimes they will watch the girls in the evenings for us and I usually pay them $4-5.00 per hour for both girls depending on what they are doing just sitting around the house playing with toys or whatever they get $4 if they take them to the park or for a bike ride or something like that then more like $5. I think I'm actually getting a pretty good deal I've heard some people pay like $7-8 I personally can't afford that so I think it depends on the person you have watching your kids.
I paid my last sitter $7 an hour. She was fabulous. She did homework with (Max) him, gave him a bath, played with him, cleaned up after him and herself. I paid for peace of mind. I knew she would be attentive to him.
Think about it - back in the day, what were YOU doing when you were suppose to be BABYSITTING?
my rates at Ruttgers Resort are $5 an hour for one child, $8 an hour for two children and $10 an hour for 3 and up- 3 or more children you have to have 2 sitters. Speaking of which i have to babysit two 2 year olds this weekend.

this game?
1) Who's old enough to babysit?
2) What do kids charge for babysitting duties now?

what are you doing sleeping all day now that there is NO SCHOOL????
what i mean by that is I don't want to see a list from my babysitter of her rates for what she does.
like:
2hrs play time $20 bucks
$5 for diaper change
$5 if i need to feed a ba-ba
$5 hour after i fall asleep.
-$25 if i get caught with other kids in the house.
none of them ever tell me what to pay them...its like a free car wash...how much do i pay???
odds are 2 much
if it was an infant...I think the fee should be zero...
reason...I bet me2 would do it for nothing

I would try to watch a newborne in a heartbeat - after 4 months? not so much. Pay the kid.
another thing - did the sitter take First Aid/Red Cross classes?
you don't have to pay more but it's nice when a kid has a good resume - and other happy parents.
REMEMBER- you are paying for safety and peace of mind so that you can go out and enjoy some time away with the other one you love.
Holidays $125 hr.
:pbpt:
adults don't get paid by the hour - thats totally different
that becomes DAYCARE and then you have to consult a totally different thing -
are you just a drop off - kid in front of tv service
OR
do you have a planned regiment - ie: Valleyfair and Science Museums
is this just 3 days a week before and after school for a few hours? than its probably just a flat rate of $25-$50 a week kinda thing.
Icesis knows more about that -
Think about it - back in the day, what were YOU doing when you were suppose to be BABYSITTING?

3 of them at ages of 6, 8, 10
I recall this easy...as I got paid for the night
$6, $8, and $10
anyways..
These little punks had the entire house set just like "home alone" but not that drastic.
squirt guns, flour, etc...the works..
the house was a complete mess when i left and even felt bad I couldn't do anything to keep them under control.
2 weeks later they asked me to sit again...more like begged!!!
I said no way....turns out i wasn't the only one...
ask your mom who this is :smile:
