If it is more convenient for you to stop after work tonight, the porch is not locked up and if I'm awake, fine. And if I'm in bed, fine too. Just come up on the porch and pick it up. It's right next to the door.
TWO chicks?? You're a softie, aren't you. I'm glad you could use the cage. After you left I was thinking I should have looked for another box for Minnie. :frown:
If anybody is thinkin about adopting a cat or two, I have a reccomendation....
we went to PetSmart in Maplewood 2 days ago, and in their cat adoption room, they had two very lovable guys who had a heartbreaking story.... their owner had died in a motorcycle accident, and they had been forgotten about in his apartment, until a cleaning crew arrived to clean the place out...
if we didnt already have Azreal, I think we would have adopted them both on the spot....
there were some people in there, trying to get them to react to stuff, and they wouldnt move....
but it seemed like the very minute we walked up to their cages, and started talking to them, they came alive.... it was almost like they wanted US, to take them....
I hate things like this, but I hafta pass it along.. hopefully something good comes out of this.
FDA Requests Seizure of Animal Food Products at PETCO Distribution Center
Today, at the request of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Marshals seized various animal food products stored under unsanitary conditions at the PETCO Animal Supplies Distribution Center located in Joliet, Ill., pursuant to a warrant issued by the United States District Court in Chicago.
U.S. Marshals seized all FDA-regulated animal food susceptible to rodent and pest contamination. The seized products violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act because it was alleged in a case filed by the United States Attorney that they were being held under unsanitary conditions. (The Act uses the term "insanitary" to describe such conditions).
During an FDA inspection of a PETCO distribution center in April, widespread and active rodent and bird infestation was found. The FDA inspected the facility again in May and found continuing and widespread infestation.
"We simply will not allow a company to store foods under filthy and unsanitary conditions that occur as a direct result of the company's failure to adequately control and prevent pests in its facility," said Margaret O'K. Glavin, associate commissioner for regulatory affairs. "Consumers expect that such safeguards will be in place not only for human food, but for pet food as well."
The distribution center in Joliet, Ill., provides pet food products and supplies to PETCO retail stores in 16 states including Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.
FDA has no reports of pet illness or death associated with consumption of animal food distributed by PETCO, and does not have evidence that the food is unsafe for animals. However, the seized products were in permeable packages and held under conditions that could affect the food's integrity and quality.
As a precaution, consumers who have handled products originating from the PETCO distribution center should thoroughly wash their hands with hot water and soap. Any surfaces that came in contact with the packages should be washed as well. Consumers are further advised as a precaution to thoroughly wash products sold in cans and glass containers from PETCO in the 16 affected states.
If a pet has become ill after eating these food products, pet owners should contact their veterinarian and report illnesses to FDA state consumer complaint coordinators.
I would have to agree.. unfortunately, I don't think it's getting enough media time...
Even though the conditions were unsanitary, no illness or death has been linked to the facility, so I think alot of dog owners will keep going without knowledge of whats going on..
In my abscence we have since adpoted another pet a Leopard Gecko. We are currently approaching zoo status here with 1 Shepard/Husky, 1 Black Lab, 1 Domestic Cat, 1 Plecostimous (Algea Eatter), 4 misc fish, 1 Leopard Gecko see attached for baby pictures of the gecko I've got current ones on my camera I'll probably attach later.

Marquette is having a Pirate Festival this month. Many events involving pirate costumes, staged pirate attacks, cannons, plays about pirates, and a free outdoor showing of the movie Hook at the commons.
But I thought this photo just kind of says it all - the winner of the Pirate Pup contest...
Merlin has been a finalist every year so far - last year Ralph Jon Fritz came out and filmed the races for his Out 'N About TV show. They've had a pretty good turnout - probably close to 50 dogs and a few extras in the costume show.
It's been almost a week now and it's getting a little easier to talk about .....
...my cat "Jennie" passed away peacefully last Wednesday at the age of 22. She would have been 23 years old next month, 9/19. :crying:
Tho she was blind and deaf she still seemed to be very happy. It was getting more difficult for her to get around and she moved very little. She passed in her favorite place in her favorite position on her favorite blanket. She will be missed by all our family :crying:
Ooooh, sorry 'bout that Diggs. Wow, 20+ years - that's like raising a kid!
I've got a co-worker with a cat who's pushing 20 - but he gets more ornery and uncooperative with age - he's turning into a devil cat! We can't even talk to her on the phone without the cat screeching in the background. I have no idea how she lives with that thing.
In the 3rd one, Bucky is talking back.... when he doesnt want to cooperate with you, he howls/yelps back at you, in a whiney little voice - sometimes it sounds like he says "I dont want to!!!"
yeah.. Bucky gets along good with both of them.... the cat is atleast tolerant of him, because Bucky fears him...
Molly? she just annoys Azreal, cause she wont leave him alone....
Its fun to watch them interact.... he'll eventually get used to the fact that she's not going anywhere, and she'll eventually get used to the fact that he doesnt wanna play with her, and hopefully they'll meet someplace inbetween and co-exist....
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish
Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Linda, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Linda told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why. Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog were your teacher, you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ectasy
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by.
Kudos.
hahaha nice :sheepish: lucky guy!
did he show up OT?

Molly
Azreal
and puppies too  like that content first picture
the first picture, was Bucky's first camping trip.... shortly after my dad passed away...
that weekend was probably the calmest, i'd ever seen him - almost like he knew that we were supposed to be taking it easy, and "getting away"....
Now as soon as we start getting tents and stuff ready for camping, he knows whats going on, and starts getting antsy.....
I think he likes going to Lake Ann as much as I do....
In the 3rd one, Bucky is talking back.... when he doesnt want to cooperate with you, he howls/yelps back at you, in a whiney little voice - sometimes it sounds like he says "I dont want to!!!"
cool that they get along and can hang out close to eachother.
