John Edwards Admits to Having an Affair
http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/6340

In an interview scheduled to air Friday evening on "Nightline" on ABC, John Edwards admits to having repeatedly lied during his presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with novice filmmaker Rielle Hunter. Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff that he did in fact have an affair with Hunter, 44, but said that he did not love her....

and he didn't inhale either...hypocrite

Franken calls for changes to credit card laws

by Mark Zdechlik, Minnesota Public Radio

August 14, 2008

St. Paul, Minn. — DFL Senate candidate Al Franken is calling for several law changes which he says would better protect consumers from creditors.

Franken wants to repeal the 2005 Bankruptcy Act. He also wants to ban credit card companies from what's called "universal default."

"There is no reason that anyone should believe that just because they missed one payment on one credit card that any other credit card company they have has the right to raise their interest rate," Franken said.

Franken criticized Republican Senator Norm Coleman for taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the financial services industry.

Coleman supported the Bankruptcy Act. Coleman's campaign said Coleman has investigated abuse in the credit card industry with his Democratic counterpart on the Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

the banko act..didn't change anything..only thing is did was truely help people...they do need to take clases to prevent it from happening to them again..

seriously not much different..

as far as universal default...I agree its a bad thing... should be banned....

Sounds like the next big thing is to have a "Credit Ticker" on your desktop... Streaming information from the big 3 credit companies - like the stock market.

Don't use that credit card if you're under 400 - wait until the credit indicator turns green...

When the ticker hits 600, it's time to LOAN LOAN LOAN - get that new mortgage NOW before it drops again!

Jeez, you'd have people lined up at Home Depot like slot machines, watching their tickers until they got high enough to afford that Mitre saw... JACKPOT!

You know, there are a lot of tough issues like that out there that just don't get addressed by the media. Are aliens out there? Yes or No?!? You can't flip-flop on that kind of issue - either you endorse the Aliens' right to exist, or you deny that they are real. There's no middle ground!

(I just got a visual of Ross Perot in a nursing home wearing an aluminum foil hat)

Y'know the real Mona Lisa has a wiener dog in her lap - someone covered it up around the late 1800's - now you have to x-ray it to see it - or just look at my avatar.

If you know something about Obama that the rest of us don't, you should be selling that info to the highest bidder!

Sounds like Obama's VP is gonna be either Joe Biden or Chet Edwards, Biden wouldn't hurt, which means he's a good pick b/c the VP candidate rarely helps in the election. Edwards worries me a little, I think the fact that he represents the district where Bush's ranch is in Texas could come across as gimmicky. Also, I'd be hesitant to pick anyone with the last name Edwards right now b/c of all the bad press John Edwards has been getting.

Boy if only I had that proof, I'd be selling it to the enquirer! I could probly retire on the amount they'd pay for that info.

I thought he was gonna pick Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine or Evan Bayh of Indiana? I heard Biden too but will be surprised if its him. I actually like Biden, because he speaks his mind.

edit: I see now that Kaine has said he's out. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Personally I think the only information I really would like to see is what both of them put on their Tax Statements.

I think the idea that McCain owns four different properties along with some investment properties really jams a sliver into the Big Toe of his campaign. Makes it that much harder to associate with the "Common" voter.

Obama prolly has similar unique "Investments" that would make him seem elite as well, that's why viewing their tax receipts would be VERY interesting.

Washington is chock full of people who have exploited their positions to get ahead - but I guess my hope is that their Tax file records would have to be completely unbiased - the numbers can't lie or spin anything.

Obama picks Biden

Mr. Obama announced the pick on his Web site with a photo of the two men and an appeal for donations. A text message went out shortly afterward that said, "Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee."

Mr. Obama's decision leaked to the media several hours before his aides planned to send a text message announcing the running mate, negating a promise that people who turned over their phone numbers would be the first to know who Mr. Obama had chosen.

My favorite thing about the Biden selection is it really makes it improbable McCain chooses TPaw for veep. Foreign policy is the top issue this election cycle and putting Pawlenty up vs. Biden is suicide. If it had been Kaine, or Sebelius then I could see it, but not Biden.

Although there are no good picks left for McCain that don't contradict one of his main possitions in some way, so maybe he'll just bite the bullet and pretend Pawlenty has foreign policy experience and continue to pretend that being a POW qualifies him.

ones, where I've just left a bar, and am super drunk, and have random comments/questions.

He looked great - especially considering his health issues. I suspect that he was so bound and determined to get to that convention and be heard that nothing would have stopped him.

And the speech that Caroline gave was moving as well.

Maria Shriver sure had a tough time. I think she cried through the whole thing.
