I LOVE THAT! Stewart must have dozens of screeners looking at footage every day to catch that stuff.
Sure - a lot of it it taken out of context - but plenty of these people that are hired - not asked - paid - to be talking heads for news shows are infected with hoof-in-mouth disease and really shouldn't be given air time.
This is rich. Look, I understand that as a governor you are going to work your butt off to get as much pork shipped to your state as possible. I don't agree with it, but I understand it. But then if you get a surprise VP nomination, I would think you would want to shut your mouth about fiscal responsiblity, instead of opening it up and spewing lies to the American people. Once again the Republican's have gambled on the American public's ability/desire to find out the truth. Hopefully, this time they will finally lose.
Those of us who pay attention and read the blogs, etc, are the exception. I tell my kids this stuff and ask them if they would have known about it if I hadn't told them, and they say no.
I heard this morning that women 18 to 40 have given McCain a bump in his support among women...women of child bearing age. Are they aware of Palin's stand on woman's right to choose?
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will speak at her sonÂ’s Army deployment ceremony on 9/11 and spend two days with ABC News crews later this week as part of a McCain campaign plan to increase AmericansÂ’ comfort with her as a leader.
Campaign and network officials had said on Sunday that her first television interview would be a sit-down with Charles Gibson of ABC’s “World News.”
Politicians have their choice of three types of slender reed to grasp along the steeper parts of the campaign trail: personal sagas, slogans, or solid facts wrought into detailed plans.
funny...that obama's camp seemed to know they would complain...
obama's quote
"That's not change. That's just calling something the same thing something different. You know you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. You know you can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it's still going to stink after eight years. We've had enough of the same old thing."
john's quote:
In Iowa last October, McCain drew comparisons between Hillary Clinton's current health care plan and the one she championed in 1993: "I think they put some lipstick on the pig, but it's still a pig." He used roughly the same line in May, after effectively claiming the Republican nomination.
The consensus on one of the cable news shows last night was that Palin makes McCain look even smaller and weaker than before. Now that they mentioned it, I think they're right. You pretty much see him standing behind her fingering his wedding ring and staring at her butt. I'm not kidding. Watch.
I wonder if Cindy McCain is jealous of all the attention Sarah is getting. She probably thought she was going to be the woman to shake up the White House.
Thank God I'm going out of town all of next week. I need a break from all of this. It drives me crazy. Its making me a bitter, ugly woman.
And the McCain group is outraged that Obama made the lipstick comment?? This from a campaign whose candidate once made a joke about Chelsea Clinton. McCain said, "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno".
I seriously want to see the word "outraged" completely obliterated from the American vocabulary - its been used to death - try a different synonym, please!
OT - Don't let all this make you bitter - it will be over with soon. The ugliness on the other hand... :eyeroll:
The only pig I'd like to see wearing lipstick is Rush Limbaugh - has he EVER done anything candid to poke fun of himself? Even Dubya brought out that Bush impersonator for that press dinner years ago to poke fun of himself. I seriously wonder how much of their own dramatic crap they actually believe - in Rush's case it seems to run pretty deep.
He admits about 3 sentences in that he doesn't know anything about her. Might as well just ask any imbicile who doesnt know her to get an opinion.
Whats absurd is that he's so against her even though he admits he knows nothing about her. He should at least try to learn something about her before before his decision is made.
It didn't piss me off. Everyones entitled to their own opinion. I just think they should base that opinion on something more than "Because I don't know anything about her. And I don't think in 8 weeks I'm gonna know anything about her."
He don't seem to be real informed and appears a bit closed minded to say he wont know anything more about her in 8 weeks. Maybe just a slow learner?
Frankly, I wouldn't care if my next President came from the darkest corners of the Alaskan wilderness, or that the last executive meeting served milk and cookies at the PTA. I'd like to see their character - their intelligence - their personality - their wisdom show through.
By making Sarah Palin constantly utter the same canned speech (which doesn't really sound genuine to begin with) and give softball interviews- makes it seem like the Republicans are trying harder to hide her from the world than let her shine. She appears to be a puppet - eye candy - or to paraphrase Obama - she's the lipstick that's being used to decorate the pig.
The MSM is starting to pick up on the fact that McCain's campaign had decided to use the "lie, lie, and then lie some more" strategy and is starting to grow a pair and actually report it. Previously when the campaign said something not true (read: a lie), you would see things like "an Obama spokesman said 'that isn't true'", a much softer approach than actually saying "what isn't true". Perhaps it was in the interest of equal representation, and I can understand that. However I don't think it applies when you have one campaign that has such a disregard for the truth, and it is refreshing to see the recent shift towards calling a spade a spade.
Finally figures out a way to get rid of Hillary...heh
Clinton blindsided by scheduled event with Palin
WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has canceled an appearance at a New York rally next week after organizers blindsided her by inviting Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, aides to the senator said Tuesday.
....
Clinton aides were furious. They first learned of the plan to have both Clinton and Palin appear when informed by reporters.
"Her attendance was news to us, and this was never billed to us as a partisan political event," said Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines. "Sen. Clinton will therefore not be attending."

You've still got 3 hours left! Vote for Howard Orenstein for Judge if you live in Ramsey County!
I like the guy - he was in every parade I worked this past summer!
Another reason national polling is overrated.

Speaking of Palin - Ebaums has a real gem...
Sarah Palin does TV Sports in Anchorage
Get a load of that 80's hair!

I know, I know. It's the Enquirer. But they've got some credibility now that they were the first to expose Edward's affair.
"oh, they said we should stop picking on her, I guess we'll stop doing our jobs."
oh thats right leave her family out of this...
That's politics for you.

Good opportunity for her to defend herself.
She has some 'splainin to do.

based on that...who do you want to vote for??

On the other hand, McCain doesn't have as much spring in his step as Bush Sr. did... hmmmmm...

The Ballad of Sarah Palin
English language frightens and confuses me sometimes. I think it's time for some George Carlin videos...

In politics, knowledge has absolutely nothing to do with it - you just have to get people to like you.
We should make Obama and McCain take the PSATs and post scores.

Once is a tragedy, a second time is a farce. John McCain is both.
