Managed to get everything back to normal here after coming back to find everything unread.
We were in Duluth this weekend to attend the wedding of the son of one of my best friends. We took the opportunity to take an extra day and drive up the north shore a ways and spend time at our favorite spots. Getting back in touch with the great pond was so centering.
The wedding and reception was held at Greysolon Plaza in downtown Duluth. What a beautiful place for a wedding. Quite elegant. The architecture was beautiful and the chandeliers in the ballroom were so over the top. It was nice not to have to move from one place to another. Turns out the bride's grandparents had spent their honeymoon there when it was still a hotel.
This should be the last wedding for this year. Next year we already know of one we'll be attending. Attending a wedding is far more relaxing than being the parents of the groom.
My youngest got engaged last night! Today is her birthday and he proposed just after midnight. He had hired a limo and they got me out of bed at 1:30 AM to drive around picking up family to drive around the cities. I haven't asked about a date yet. This will be the first wedding I've had to pay for myself. I'm scared! But excited too.
It will be fun to have someone else going through a wedding.
My daughter, who is not engaged nor planning on being engaged anytime soon, wants a very extravagant wedding. I told her to start saving. These parents can't afford extravagant.
Sysop and the dudes in charge transferred the whole Ableminds site over to a new server. Side effect #1 is that all messages are marked "unread". I guess another side effect was that the search function in the side tab wasn't working, but supposedly they fixed it overnight.

If all you noticed was unread messages, then I think they probably did a great job at swapping servers...
Sysop (Marc Richer) changed his tagline to "Co-Chief of Dis-abled Mind" which last week seemed appropriate.
I think most of the Coolers heeded their warning message on fri-sat that any messages posted that day would be lost in the swap - I think there was probably less than 12 new posts between Friday noon and Sunday am - Translation: if you mark all messages as "read" you won't miss much
I did it in like 3.... I logged in, I clicked on the main folder dealio... and then I clicked the mark as read for the entire "members folders" page...
2) Click on the first link "Enable Special User Functions"
3) Click on the Installer to Activate
If you want to get more specific with which folders you want to mark off as "Read", you'll have to weed out each folder individually, BUT...
To get ALL forum posts marked as "Read":
1) Back out as far as you can in the forum - to the original "Able Minds Forum" link
2) Click on the sunglasses icon next to each of the four main folders to mark all content as "Read" - it takes a while when there's like 400,000 posts, but only a couple minutes.
Straight long black hair - put the hair up or in a ponytail, add sexy librarian glasses, some "up north" clothes (flannel shirt or hunting clothes etc.) and exaggerate the "northern" accent, and go as Sarah Palin???
I am a registration judge for this coming election. We had our three hour training last night. Lots to all this stuff related to voting.
Because I am not assigned to my own precinct, I had to vote absentee. My vote is in the mail. Feels odd to vote absentee. First time I've had to do that.
I think it will be fun though to spend the day in the middle of the action.
People go out there all the time. The park service guy even told us that if we came back the next day they wouldn't be there to stop anyone. You just have to use common sense when out there because a lot of the railings are missing. Not any scarier than driving across it though.
Is there still potholes with no bottom in a couple places?
My wife used to be very active with the Jaycees in that whole South Metro area - we used that bridge as a shortcut to get from event to event. We were probably one of the last 50 vehicles to cross it before it was closed.
Not on the Dakota County side. That is the only part of the bridge that would be part of the trail system. Washington County is planning on tearing down their side.
WOW! Decent location, but no furnace or water heater.
Methinks there may be a lot more missing as well (like pipes and wiring). Besides, if you don't get a water heater installed by like, tomorrow... the pipes will freeze and you got a lot more to worry about.
I did the mortgage calculator at 10% down...
$133.81 Principle and Interest
$116.16 Monthly Tax
$10.74 Insurance
$260.73 Payment
HEY! - Just got an idea. - Is it too late to pool our money and turn it into a Cooler Crew Haunted House?
hope whoever went had a good time.don't forget to set your clocks.
we get an extra hour of sleep.
something I don't get though...not every city/country sets clocks forward and back. I wonder how that works. sometimes there is a couple hour difference between here and another location and sometimes theres more? weird.

I logged in here, and it said there was something like 9 billion new posts, just since like last week....

I tried to put the actual link here, but it didn't work out.
1) In the side menu bar: Click "Preferences"
2) Click on the first link "Enable Special User Functions"
3) Click on the Installer to Activate

just back all the way out to the "Able Minds Forum" folder, and click mark as read on everything... there are only 4 folders to click on, that way...
old server just in case...
I was over there all morning...
