Wicked Nick

thats why I dont put political stickers in my car windows....

I would just end up leaving them there, or something.... and then I'd look even more stupid than I already do, when whoever im supporting loses....

but I do have a Rock & Roll Whores bumper sticker.

Thought you would have had a "Vote Wicked Nick" sticker... Support your write in candaicy, and all... Also would help to find the car when you loose it in a giant parking lot.

That map looks like a Redneck identifier map - look at all the red concentrations in the Ozark Hills, Rural Louisiana and Appalachia - not to mention Northern Florida. lol!

Oops! I should have read the text. :pbpt: But it sure is a pretty map!

I did pretty good on the interactive map I did in June. I knew as the campaign went on I had messed up a a couple (I would have painted Iowa and Indiana blue). I painted Georgia blue becuase I thought Obama might choose Sam Nunn for his VP.

It's a legitimate map - just not of actual voting results - Click on the "Voting Shifts" tab - that map is the illustration of how balloting shifted More Democratic / More Republican

he can still run even though he is being convicted of a felony?

do politicians have to have clean records to run for any seats?
Thu, 11/13/2008 - 10:32 AM Permalink
Mad_Dach5und

The only thing that can kick out a seated Senator is the Senate itself. There's been more than a few ethics violations over the years in that department, but unless his peers vote him out, he's still got a seat.

The dumb part about this whole rigamaroll is that the Senate will probably vote him out even if he wins the election - they're just holding off on that process because they don't want to look like the bad guys until they have to.

If Stevens wins, he face almost certain expulsion as soon as the new Senate takes office. Hopefully Begich wins to save us the mess (and to save us from a possible Senate run by Sarah Palin.)

I'm going to be a poll challenger for Al Franken during the recount! This should be fun, all he needs is a net gain of one vote for every twenty precincts to take out Norm Coleman!

so what is the count right now?

I know there is supposed to be a recount coming up again - I know a couple of people who are involved with the recount BUT don't know when it is. doesn't it begin today? or sometime this month?

I think the recount begins on November 19 and we might not know the results until mid December.

I think recounts are perfectly acceptable as long as the cost incurred is charged to the losing candidate if the outcome doesn't change.

Though I'm sure if the tables were turned, everyone's opinions would be opposite too... good ol politics for you.

Does the losing team get charged with an extra timeout if they are wrong?

The count now is 206 votes. Right now the county and state canvassing boards are finishing up the canvassing, which is making sure that the numbers called in on election night match the numbers on the tape from the voting machines. Once this is finished, the secretary of state will certify the results as official on Monday night. Then the hand recount begins, and people like me will be looking at every ballot across the state. This will hopefully be completed within a month.

thank you for clarifying that.

just like the Presidential election...I'm amazed that the votes were 50/50! Norm is the typical career politician but I wouldn't think Franken has my best interest at heart either, what a nasty mouth on that guy. Norm is looking more frail these days. Personality does play a factor.

I thought I saw on the news that it was going to be non- partisan judges. Are you seriously trying to say your a non- partisan judge? Or do I have my facts wrong?

I think it's well known around these parts that your a DFL suporter. Am I wrong?

He never said he was going to be a judge. He's going to be a challenger for Franken. If I understand it correctly he'll just be pointing out ballots that should be judged not actually deciding on them.

Correct, a judge (or panel of judges, I'm not sure) will be counting the ballots, and I can challenge them if I believe they have counted anything incorrectly.

So Coleman is still ahead by 15,000 votes.

http://www.twincities.com/ci_11027251?nclick_check=1

At the end of the day, Coleman had 195,638 votes; Franken had 180,923 votes; other candidates had 75,585 votes; and there were 221 challenged ballots — 115 challenged by the Coleman campaign and 106 by the Franken campaign. Before the recount, Coleman had 195,708 in the precincts counted Wednesday, and Franken had 180,950. That means Coleman lost 70 votes and Franken lost 27.
