Governor Sarah Palin gives that traditional "Pardon" to a Thanksgiving Turkey - then gives an interview that turned 'Fowl'. She stops and talks to the press completely oblivious that a WORKING slaughter stand is right behind her.

The whole, bloody news story...

(well, not really THAT bloody)

IMO - Absolutely Priceless. Dan Quayle couldn't have done it better.

Thanks for sharing.

The SOS numbers only include what has already been recounted. Scott and Wright counties haven't started recounting yet, that is why it shows Franken with a lead.

Why is it so different from what the Star Trib is reporting?

If I find the ballot that turns the election results, can I get $10,000 from Franken?
Wed, 12/03/2008 - 11:05 PM Permalink

probably.... but you'll most likely have to wait a few months, because he'll need to have his people count it....

and re-count it...

“This Wasn’t Quite the Change We Envisioned.”

Liberals voice concerns about Obama

Liberals are growing increasingly nervous – and some just flat-out angry – that President-elect Barack Obama seems to be stiffing them on Cabinet jobs and policy choices.

Obama has reversed pledges to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil. HeÂ’s hedged his call for a quick drawdown in Iraq. And heÂ’s stocking his White House with anything but stalwarts of the left.

Now some are shedding a reluctance to puncture the liberal euphoria at being rid of President George W. Bush to say, in effect, that the new boss looks like the old boss.

I'll start to worry after he's in office - if I need to worry. There is really nothing he has done so far that has made me uproarious with my vote for him.

he should cancel New Years Eve...

that would be funny...

or get rid of a state we dont use anymore....

like Wyoming.... the only thing cool there are UFO's and Devils Tower...

and even if its not a state, we can still go there and see those things...

I think those Liberals had better get over the idea that we can afford to operate in partisan ways anymore. Surely through this economic crisis, we just have to pull together more, and I think that is what Obama is trying to set the stage for.

Wyoming has Yellowstone...

But maybe eliminating that State level of bureaucracy would make funding easier and the Park could actually get the funding it needs WHEN it needs it.

Wyoming has the Teton Mountains and Jackson, just about the coolest city in the US. Nebraska, on the other hand........
Mon, 12/08/2008 - 8:12 PM Permalink
Mad_Dach5und

Jackson is a hole for rich folk. No pun intended. I mean UBER rich folk. Any hotel or restaurant higher-rated than 'craphole' will cost you an arm and a leg.

Fantastic scenery - the Elk Refuge, Tetons and such - just don't stay there for the night unless you can sponge off someone else's timeshare.

My niece lives there. Lives in a nice place, but I don't consider her uber rich. I don't know. Maybe she is. But at least I have a nice place to visit.

Believe me it's not. It looks just like that. Well except when it's raining of course. I purposed in a small settler church out there. The window over the alter framed the Teton range. Very nice indeed.

I know who took the missing ballots: Joe Rolette. You might remember him. He was involved in changing Minnesota's history back in 1850, and he's apparently doing it again -- or maybe it's his descendents.

"Who is Joe Rolette?" you might ask. Well, he's the dude who, in 1850, took the bill that would move the Minnesota territorial capitol from St. Paul to St. Peter. He hid out for about a week -- well, at least until the legislative session ended -- and it was too late for the bill to be presented, passed and signed.

St. Paul remains the state capital today, and St. Peter remains the bridesmaid.

Then-Gov. Willis A. Gorman (who hailed from St. Peter) didn't get to sell his land to the territory, and the capitol wasn't built in his fair city.

This year there are 133 missing ballots in the recount of the race between Sen. Norm Coleman and Al Franken.

An APB has been issued, and the search is more exciting than looking for the Winter Carnival medallion.

Who will fill the seat? No one will know until that old rascal, Joe Rolette, appears with those missing ballots.

Startribune.com has a live videostream of the canvassing board's delibarations of the senate recount. It's wierdly fascinating. Right now coleman's up +30 for the whole election.

Coleman's lead is down to 5 votes according to Star Tribune numbers.
Thu, 12/18/2008 - 3:01 PM Permalink
Mad_Dach5und

Jeezus this thing will never end... Just flip a coin! I'm worried that MN will have no senator when the next session starts up January 6, 2009. If this margin stays tiny, there is NO WAY this will be resolved quickly.

The Strib is projecting that Franken will win by 89 votes. This is based on the fact that there are only Coleman challenges left, therefore Franken stands to gain more votes because a majority of those challenges will be rejected.
Thu, 12/18/2008 - 3:14 PM Permalink
mrmnmikey

Why, is there some major issue that needs a vote on Jan 6th??
Fri, 12/19/2008 - 7:40 AM Permalink
Mad_Dach5und

This has been a long election season and I'm sick of it - plus we already know the two camps are not going to play nice in the courts - despite what Coleman said a few weeks before election day. This could drag on for quite some time with a skinny margin like TWO votes.
Fri, 12/19/2008 - 7:52 AM Permalink
OT

They probably start picking committee and committee chairs about then. Minnesota doesn't want to get stuck with what ever is left.

I thought originally Coleman won by 15000 votes and then contested.

so now does that mean that Franken found 15000 votes?
Mon, 12/22/2008 - 3:20 PM Permalink
Mad_Dach5und

"1,500" sounds closer to what they originally projected election night - I dunno if that was a typo or not.

I think once the original count was done a few days later is was closer to 250 votes - A damn close margin in its own respect out of almost 3 MILLION votes.

- BFG or anyone else out there recall what the count was BEFORE the recount?
Mon, 12/22/2008 - 3:46 PM Permalink
Terry

I see in the paper Franken is ahead by 48 votes.

Amazing. 87 counties in the state. That 48 is less than 1 vote per county.

Once in the City of St. Paul, one city council seat went to a recount. The incumbant, Bill Wilson, won by one vote.
Mon, 12/22/2008 - 4:01 PM Permalink
barefootguy

715 on election night, then 216 when they double checked the numbers that were called in on election night against the machine tapes. I think it was Coleman by 180-something after the recount. Franken was + 250 after the challenged ballots were ruled on. He is now +48 because the withdrawn challenges were tallied today. There is still Coleman's court challenge about double counted ballots, which sounds like a load of garbage to me. Even if the judge rules in his favor, those ballots will probably be more than offset by the rejected absentee votes that haven't been counted yet.
