Thankfully I had Christmas off to spend with the family, but other than that I've been workin 50 hour weeks for a while. Comcast has been SWAMPED and the higher-ups arent really handling the situation properly if you ask me... but that's neither here nor there.
What I told one guy at comcast recently - instead of spending all your time creating new features and increased internet speed, it would be nice if you could get the system working so that it's stable.
We have Vonage because it's cheaper than comcast - but it's only as reliable as the internet it crosses..and being the internet is comcast, and been so unstable and unreliable lately, our phones are also messed up.
I hate Qwest.
I may soon hate Comcast more.
Seriously thinking of going DSL and direct phone line through Qwest.
We are first responders for my Mom. I need reliable phone service. I'm not getting it. Frustrating.
yeah, Comcast service has been far from the greatest lately in a few areas... TV service has been particularly bad, especially On Demand... I know all about the phone / internet issues too...
Terry / Kitch, I'm sending you a PM with my info. I'll see what I can do for you.
anybody else (regulars) here who has Comcast and has been having issues here can PM me as well.
Sorry about the can of worms. I love the speed when we have service. Speed doesn't mean a thing if things aren't working. They need to put money into stability. I realize weather plays a role in all this connectivity, but in this climate, perhaps a bit more money into protecting connections from the weather would be, in the long run, better for Comcast and for it's customers.
I'm highly planning on dropping our home phone line as of mid January. even our kids have cellphones. I get calls from only:
grandma
nutrition services every other day claiming my daughters account has only $1.20 in it. She brings her own lunch, lunch is $2.00 so anything below it they call!
blockbuster that our movies are overdue - duh! they are always overdue
library because the books are overdue - duh! they are always overdue
We're keeping our home line alive basically as an answering service, but also because we have Quest DSL and I LOVE it! It is faster than our T1 network at work and we've only had one service stoppage in the last two years. I will never subscribe to a cable company as long as any other service is available.
Video services / billing but pretty much handle calls for everything since we're so understaffed.
Nick - I cant promise anything but I might be able to help. You can PM me your info if you want me to check into it for ya.
Honestly if you have Comcast and you have to call about ANYTHING, I highly recommend that you ask the Comcast rep where they're located. If they say "Florida" or anything besides the Twin Cities, tell em you wanna be transferred to local.
my dad died, and I had an APPROVED 2 weeks off....
Went back to work, earlier than they wanted me to.... mostly because I was still in training, and also cause it was a good job, that i liked, AND knew how to do...
only to be told that I had "missed too much training time", and there was nothing they could do for me...
then I was stripped of my comcast ID, and parking pass, and escorted out by 2 security guards - "just incase"...
I remember being super excited when they hired me.... but that day, they did a damn good job of making me feel like a piece of crap...
yeah man, I hear ya... they wanna understaff, then they don't wanna fix the problems, so there's constantly 100+ calls in queue and customers are ticked off waiting on hold for 20-30 minutes, THEN they expect us to "sell on every call" like customers wanna hear that crap when their service isn't working... it's bogus... it's a great job with great benefits but they make it ALOT harder on the "lower-end" employees than it should be...
and that's my tamed-down version of my TRUE thoughts on what goes on...
oh well.. I like helping the people I talk with, so I do what I gotta do and try not to let it faze me...
thats ridiculous what they did to you though, and I can tell you it's happened to alot of others too..
I think they honestly thought I wasnt coming back....
the day I went back, my "class" was returning to the classroom, from a previous week, up in the call center....
susan caitlin heard from someone else in my class, that I was in the building, and sent for me, like an hour into the day....
way to kick off a Monday/work-week...
the thing that bothered me, and still kinda does, is that she made it seem like she was the one who made the decision...
and acted like she was surprised I was back....
yet when we spoke, on the phone, the Friday before-hand (and I informed her i'd be back, and ready to go, on Monday) she said she knew I was a positive influence in the classroom, and was confident that I'd be good at the job, based on prior experience, and some of the training stuff we'd done before I took the leave...
welcome me back, compliment me, and then insult me, and let me go...
I went to higher ups, and everything, trying to get her decision turned around, but nobody wanted to do anything about it, except invite me to re-apply in the future...
heh... yeah, let me just say that doesn't surprise me one bit...
like I said, if it weren't for the benefits and the fact that I enjoy talking to -most- of the customers I talk to and helpin em out, I'd be outta here... it's a job that should not be as stressful as the higherups make it, and it takes a toll on your psyche because of that..
I called Comcast, to tell them to come and get their CDV phone box, thats collecting dust, in the basement, where they hooked it up....
because I dont feel like making it any easier on them, by dropping it off in person...
Im being told, that in order to do that, they want 80 bucks!
Currently speaking with supervisor number 3 who is now assuring me that the other 2 people ive spoken with are full of crap, and I dont need to pay anything.... but they cant come out til the 10th, to get it.
I swear to god... if I get a bill for this now, I'm gonna Sabu somebody through our coffee table...
There...now everything is Marked as Read...that was easy!
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmastime! Mine was good...and then I was a slug the rest of the weekend. Didn't even get out of my jammies on Saturday (in fact, I forgot all about the oil change I was supposed to have at 11...oops!) :ooh:

Can't believe we're just a few weeks away!
damn comcast...
I bet that will fall on deaf ears.

Our bill is paid so I'll continue to complain until I either get some stable service or decide to switch.
I wish mine was.
we paid our latest Comcast phone bill, and then they disconnected us....
we called, and were given a different story from SEVEN different people, all claiming different things....
and now they dont wanna give our number up to Qwest....
that number has been in this house, since my grandma bought this place, back in the 1950's - you better believe we're f'n keeping it....
Nick - I cant promise anything but I might be able to help. You can PM me your info if you want me to check into it for ya.

tried everything I could to get them to understand what was going on....
basically all it got us was a buncha transfers, talks with supervisory people, and a whole lotta nothing being done.
Qwest will be here on friday hopefully, to get us connected again.
It sucks, because I know sooner or later we're gonna call Comcast again, about getting cable tv...
but as far as our phone is/was concerned, I felt like we got dicked around pretty bad, so I'll be a dick right back, and switch to the competition...
a guy just came out and hooked us up...
30 seconds later?
telemarketer....
the phone guy was still in the house!
he goes "You sure you want this?"
gotta love it.
When was it that you worked at Comcast? I know recently there were a bunch of bull**** firings.

There's an $80 charge if Comcast doesn't get the EMTA back... but there is NEVER A CHARGE to pick it up...
I swear, sometimes I think there's only a small percentage of us here who know what we're doing... how sad.
After they told me the same thing, I asked for the supervisor...
ugh...
