Slipknot is at the X. The WC blues fest is at Roy Wilkins. There will not be parking around the PP until this stuff is over. Does anyone think we should go to the Bulldog rather than Wild Tymes? I like the location of Wild Tymes better because it is walking distance to the paper, but I also don't want people to have to spend money on parking.
I think Dank is in reference to the caves near Dayton's Bluff: ie Carver's Cave, and the other famous one with the native american drawings. It is NOT in them, but is a reference to the area.
I don't have this all nicely packaged, but those who are liking Swede Hollow here's some info I found:
Swede Hollow is nestled between the Dayton's Bluff and Railroad Island communities in the ravine that once carried Phalen Creek to the Mississippi River. The first settler to the picturesque valley was Edward Phalen in 1841 the Bruce Vento Regional Trail now connects Swede Hollow to Phalen Park(Things pointing to Phalen might mean a phalen other than the park)
Talk of making Swede Hollow a park can be traced back to 1900, when Park Commissioner William Hamm was trying to get fellow commissioners in favor of Swede Hollow becoming a city park in memory of his father Theodore Hamm (founder of the brewery in the north end of the Hollow, which eventually became the Stroh Brewery Company.(pig referece)
The early industry attracted Swedish immigrants who settled just south of the industrial area and named the valley Svenska Dalen or Swede Hollow. As the Swedish moved "up onto the street", other immigrant people moved into the homes: the Polish, Italian and then the Spanish Americans. (people have mentioned clues pointing to immigrants, also could relate to "it takes all sorts"
Swedish Enclave & Swede Hollow = bower enclosed
now Swede Hollow is just a park = beasts exposed
add that to the anagram and whatever else has been mentioned, it's a decent argument I suppose.
Has any hunt before used foreign language as a clue? Not to shoot down that anagram, but the general idea that "ANYONE" can decipher the clues seems to not hold if you have to translate a language.
I have to post a few things here I have been on the same thing as MAD dog has But I have a few other things to tuch on one of the biggest is the fact that Afton HILS park is just off upper afton rd and just across the street from BC and I was out scouting that park last night and I get a good feeling out there with some of my other little things I have but are to much of a Strech!! to put on here!!!!!
BUt also ON a nother NOT SLIM!!! Hello its Iceman!!
And if your Beasts are exposed I got TONS OF BEADS FOR YOU!!! LOL
With that above so ONE ONE takes it wrong!!!
I mean IF you come out tonight!!! ok had to make sure no ONE TAKES IT WRONG! IN HERE!!!
How are the little ones doing???
Hope to get to talk to you tonight!!
I will be at the PP tonight!! dont know how or when yet but I will be THERE!!!
I think if you had to know the foreign language you are right-- but if it is in the history that anyone can find, I think it is a valid think to be anagrammed.
That clue said something about "the coldest star will guide you far"... which I (with many others) took to mean the direction North. If it would have said L'Etoile Du Nord, I would have known what it was! Of course I can say that with 100% accurate hindsight.
I would have never gotten to it backwards. Seeing it on the flag, in a heartbeat but starting with Coldest star, and getting to Polaris from there.. Never. I guess I'm dumb like that.
I would suggest taking Payne up to the Beaumont/Dewry area to park. After hours, there should be parking available at HOPE community charter school (clue 2). If you go in from the Margaret/Bates/Maury side-- the stairs are completely ice and snow covered. Walk down BESIDE the steps instead of on them.
