One of the things that was a nice surprise for me was going to Yarusso's and seeing a picture of a relative on the wall. Second cousin actually. Duane "Digger" Carey... saint paul native, astronaut, he actually flew the last successful mission of space shuttle Colombia. He was at mission control in charge of landing conditions when the Colombia tragedy happened.

wow Tates. Do you know why his pic was on the wall? was that a common hangout for him?

I dont think I have any relatives on the wall there, but I know my grandpa is in atleast 2 pics at Cosetta's...

still - its cool to go into those places for that kinda history...

His picture is also hanging on the wall at Savoy's near the side exit. I noticed it the other night in passing and told my kids he looked familiar. Didn't look close enough to notice the astronaut wings I guess. He must have looked familiar because of his picture in the paper at the time.

I don't know if he ever hung out there a lot - he grew up in highland park. He's kind of considered a local kid making it big. Made the news a lot when his mission was going up. His mother and my mother are cousins -though I've never had the pleasure of meeting him.

Is it about time for a photo album again on the website? There used to be a "meet the cooler crew" page with photos (or at least avatars). I vote for using the close-up mugshots from the PDG...unless you WANT to use some of those cleavage shots from the Vulc Party...
