Un-popped popcorn inside the spinner thing in the bottom of the dishwasher. Mine has a little wing nut to remove and it comes off. Then all you do is shake the 'stuff' out.
My daughter had to pay anything over $125 for her prom dress. She babysat and saved her money and found a nice prom dress for her senior prom at the wedding shop on Grand for around $200. Of course that was twelve years ago, but at the time, there were plenty of dresses for around $100 available and I wasn't going to fork out that much over that $100 mark for a dress she would wear once.
As a junior, she found someone to make her dress so it was under that $125 threshold.
Then there was the year she was in three weddings. All of the brides selected lavender as their color. She had to purchase 3 lavender dresses. None of them were the same. She looks washed out in that color so there isn't a chance in hades she'd ever wear any of them again.
I wouldn't spend that much without first checking out the second hand and consignment stores. But that's me. I was proud to wear an ensemble that was entirely second-hand to our company holiday party this year. I think the entire outfit including shoes and a purse didn't top $30.
For new, don't miss Herberger's....depending on size, they usually have a really good selection marked at 70% off -- I got last year's Christmas party dress there for $17, and had actually purchased one there this year too, but I wound up liking the second hand one better, so it went back.
Saver's (there's one on Lake St that I don't like -- too high), one by Maplewood Mall, and one in Bloomington by Southtown, also has formals -- it's getting to be that time of year, so it'll be harder, might not be the dress of her dreams,...but you never know what you're gonna find. AND Monday they're having a 50% off sale on everything.
There's a couple decent consignment shops too -- Elite Repeat I think is on St. Clair and Hamline -- that general area anyway.....I've never been in there, but Dad's stepmom says it's good. Also a place called the Pink Closet that's in Mpls, just across the Ford Bridge on 46th/Hiawatha area that has been good in the past - haven't been there for awhile though.
Tonight I come home to find she is still looking at dresses.
The ONE is still her favorite but she is still looking now.
I told her tonight I wish she were going to 5 Proms cause I just love some of those dresses on EBay and wish I were going!!!!!!!!
I think this will be the Prom of her dreams this year. She is dating a senior and the hearts follow them around their heads. He's a puppydog but who know where they will be next year and he may not want to go to her Sr Prom if he goes to college. Heck, knowing her personality I don't think she will be dating at all next year and focus on school. I think next year she will go with friends and want a more party dress instead of a Cinderella perfect dress.
I didn't think of Savers - doesnt hurt to check it out
we are going to an outlet store on Robert St tomorrow and out to MOA again - see who has gotten new dresses out.
I like Elite Repeat for work clothes
For those that dont know and think this is EASY: Prom dresses are different than regular dance dresses.
I grew up there, but for some reason, it takes leaving and then going back to realize what a dump the town is. yikes. pathetic shopping, and everything closes at like 6
Going stir crazy at work. My skill set is completely moot at this time- I'm doing manual assembly stuff (along with everybody else here - and I mean EVERYBODY) to kill time and pay the bills.
I'm thinking of enrolling in one of those online classroom things for web page design just so I have something to keep my mind on. Any recommendations of what to get into / avoid?
Some of these "Free Online Courses" places - especially the ones that pop up at the 'top' of Google searches - are too good to be true. - I am tempted to sneak into a night class at Globe up the road and just pretend I can't speak english.
just got off the phone with a buddy of mine, who's been a part of our little east side mafia, and i've been blessed to call a friend since like junior high or so.....
- his mom has been in pretty bad shape for quite a while, and was like a mom to alotta neighborhood kids....
Sounds like she doesnt have very long left.... maybe within the month...
Nasty stuff - only the common cold is more contagious. Having the shits for two days straight I guess "irritates" doesn't exactly cover it. Invest in Lysol stock for the next 24-48 hours. I'll be at home enjoying my Jell-o.
Fertility drugs...... side effects - hot flashes, headaches, mood swings
The warning label should really read: May cause you to say things that can get you fired, may cause you to consider taking your shirt off in public, may cause you to slap stupid people, and may cause you to consider divorce. :pbpt:
I don't want to feel anything youre feeling these past couple of days maddog - Ive got enough on my plate where as I don't think you want to look at a plate for awhile.
and more kids are taboo here tatergirl - good luck - have you done this before? are there possibilites of more than one? Im excited for you.

Using the consumer price index (CPI):
$125 in 1988 is about $227.50 in 2008
$165 in 1988 is about $300.30 in 2008
Can't cry too much about 'the good 'ol days' being cheaper... probably a wash.
I guess somebody could get ordained online (cluey, nick, ,pixie, ice??)

It is such a rip off.
