I was just curious if anyone would be interested in doing a weekend trip up north? I'm looking at maybe March 19th-22nd at Grandview Lodge near Nisswa. It would be between $80 and $100 a person but would include lodging and all your food for up to 3 days. Youd' get access to their indoor pool and other entertainment. Otherwise we'd probably just play games, eat, and maybe sit by the fire. I'm not making a committment yet, but checking to see how many people might be interested.

I've talked to my Mason Lodge and we've gone ahead and scheduled the next 24 hour treasure hunt. The date will be Saturday, April 18th. The lodge will open at 9am with coffee and doughnuts and the hunt will begin at 10am. Once again the cost will be $100 per team with a maximum of 5 official members, though of course you can elicit additional help from anyone willing to give it.
At 10am each team will be given 9 puzzle sheets. Eight of those puzzles, when solved, will lead you to a Twin Cities landmark (the hunt zone is limited by the downtown areas to the east and went and the Minneapolis and St. Paul city limits to the north and south). Included with each puzzle will be a question such as "How many fingers on the statue by the front door?" The 9th puzzle will have a few dozen pieces to it and each piece will be numbered. Find the piece whose number matches the answer to the question and you'll be 1/8th of the way towards the home stretch. Once you have all 8 pieces of the final puzzle identified, that puzzle will lead you to the final location. At the final location you will be given a set of objects to choose from and your team must place them in a prescribed order. The first team to do so correctly, wins. If you do it incorrectly, you must wait 15 minutes before trying again.
The prize will be $300 for the team that finishes first. Also, at each of the 8 locations there will be a lock. The first team to reach each location will be able to grab the lock from there and will get $25 for each lock they retrieve.
Last time we had 4 teams participate. This time I'd like to get a lot more as I am conducting this as a fundraiser for my Mason Lodge. It's also more fun when you have more teams out there racing around. So hopefully all of you will want to participate. Or even if you don't, forward the message onto people who you think would want to. If you'd like to do this, but don't have a team, let me know and I'll compile a list of such people so that you all can make a team of your own.
Sounds great, one thing I would suggest though (since everyone and their brother has a camera phone these days) is to require that each team take a photo of a team member (or of the entire team!) at all 8 locations in order to attempt the final puzzle. I personally think it would make it much more fun if we actually had to go to all of the locations instead of being able to solve everything online. Other than that it sounds like it will be a blast just like the last 2 hunts have been!
Yes, that's the right place. I've stayed at the Gull Lake cabins before which are pretty nice and those are the cheapest ones they have so it only goes up from there.
To be honest though, if you required a photo of a team member at the location, a team could theoretically photoshop someone into a picture. My thought is if I ask a question about the location, the questions could be such that they would be much easier to answer by actually going there. It will take a bit of work to get the right questions granted. It can't be something you can answer just by looking at a picture. But I have some ideas.

Or we could use a whole new team too! If we could get 4 teams from the Cooler Crew together, you know there would be some real competition going. I know the Cookie Bakers will be back and they intend to win this time. I'm not sure if I'll get a team from work or my singles club this time, but even if I do, I wouldn't worry about them winning. Maybe for the college teams I should try and recruit one team from each school? If we hit up Macalaster, Hamline, the U of M (each campus?) St. Thomas, St. Catherine's, and Metro State that could be another 7 teams.
My drinking team is looking for members to form an Unholy Alliance to take down the exceedingly arrogant Screaming Spider Monkeys or have a really good time fumbling around with the clues and teasing the other teams.
At this point in time my team has one member, no designated driver and I'm questioning my decision making skills. :pbpt:
